Staff were very polite and room service steak was excellent! Restaurant seemed more for elderly locals than residents. We would have used it but for dress code. |

The hotel was extremely well decorated, very well kept, and the staff very professional. The room was immaculate. Dining room, food was very good.Very comfortable lounges in which to enjoy conversation and afternoon tea. The bed was not comfortable. A big disappointment as the decor was so nice. The bed was hard as cement, it was literally painful to sleep in. |

The location with free parking in the centre of Barnstaple was excellent. The breakfast had waiter service and was very good. The restaurant in the evening had a dress code where men needed to wear a jacket and tie and no jeans or casual clothes. |

it is central so easy to walk to restaurants and bars, offers free parking, the room was comfortable breakfast was a shambles. too few staff for the number of guests. guests on next table had their order lost. my cooked breakfast arrived before my tea or toast. I had to remind the staff about my drink and when i was about to leave my toast arrived! |

Very well located hotel on the river and 5 minutes walk to the town centre. The staff were friendly and efficient. The dining room in particular produced quality food with precision timing. |

Location was fantastic. Right on the river and on the edge of town. There is a fabulous park just a few minutes walk. Hotel very clean and friendly. Hotel wasn't child friendly, with the majority of guests in their twilight years. |

The service was excellent. All the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Choice of food for breakfast was good. The beds could have been more comfortable and a double bed would have been preferable to 2 standard sized single beds. |

Everything for our stay over Easter was perfect. The hotel was very clean and organised. All staff were polite and well presented. The restuarant and bar staff in particular were very friendly and co-operative. Overall an excellent break in a lovely location, with fortunately lovely weather. From a personal point of view, a room overlooking the river would have put the icing on the cake, but we were in all honesty rather late in booking. |

Excellent internal decor. A quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Attentive, efficient and polite service. Comfortable bed and excellent shower Poor range of red wine by the glass. "wrap around" shower curtain when the shower was turned on. Having to go back outside at the rear entrance to ring the bell to gain entry. The sign should be on the outside door not the inside door. |

Excellent service, great staff, very comfortable and good facilities. The location was great and easy walk into town with lots of local restaurants. Did not know that a jacket & tie (and no jeans!) were needed to eat in the restaurant for dinner. 90% of clientele were elderly possible due to a coach trip |
