The room was clean and had a lovely waterfall shower and a bath! The breakfast was really good!
No plug in the bath, one bedside lamp not working and had some issues connecting to WiFi.
Friendly staff Small but comfortable rooms Excellent Breakfast, which was included in crash pad price. Lovely setting Short drive away from Marlow, Henley on Thames etc.
The staff make it, they are warm and friendly whilst being professional. The whole place is clean and smart, the bedroom was very comfortable and nicely furnished and decorated. Then there is the food...excellent!
Not being able to stay longer!
Room and staff
No wi fi in room unable to watch a movie on television.Evening meal was sloppy and undercooked
ambience lovely, breakfast nice, coffee good.
water in shower too hot and unadjustable
The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable, the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to make your stay pleasant, and the food is fantastic. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in this area and I will be staying here for future visits as its that good..
I could not fault this hotel in any way.
The spa treatments we booked. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good.
NO minibar, no safe no working phone or TV in room. All given a payment concession but still an inconvenience to our break
Wifi Cleanliness Quality Location
Lack of staff availability during check in/check out.
We were really looking forward to staying at this hotel as the pictures on the website gave the impression that it was a modern, luxurious small hotel. The staff were all friendly and accommodating and the hotel did have a pleasant feel to it. I can imagine it would be nicer in summer when you are able to use the pool and hot tub. The towels were fluffy and the bed was comfortable.
Crash pad really is tiny. Wouldn't recommend for a couple even for just a night. Also located near entrance to reception so you get a lot of people walking past. Bath had mold round grouting and a light out. Also bath in crash pad was small. Felt the whole hotel needs to be redecorated as looking quite tired. Reception is tiny and doesn't give good first impression of hotel. There was never anybody there either. We got an upgrade as we weren't happy with the condition of the crash pad. The next room was much bigger and what I had expected, although the bath plug was missing, there was a stain on one of the bath robes and the floor in the bathroom was badly cracked. There was no information in the hotel room, which would have been useful especially, fire evacuation procedures. Door handle nearly came off in my hand and husband's chair in breakfast room had a broken handle. Full english breakfast was a bit dry. Felt as though it had been sat under hot lights on hot plate for ages. Very disappointed. Felt all that was offered was done so on a budget. There was no luxurious feel to what looked like a luxurious hotel on the website. It has so much potential and just needs a bit of a makeover.
It could and should have been altogether nicer - the hotel is a bit shabby around the edges, with lots of scrapes and bumps on furniture and paintwork. Dinner was a little hit and miss, despite the 'Luke's Dining Room' billing - but breakfast was almost laughable.... Officially one small cup of coffee each only (despite being the only guests in and a full cafetiere made for the purpose), one slice of Mother's Pride toast to share and a cooked breakfast which took 40 minutes because of 'problems boiling the water for your poached egg'. Really?
Looked lovely on approach, resturant menu sounded nice. Looked lovely on the website. Our room was awful and the guy at reception was very apologetic and moved us to the suite which was nice but would not have been value for money if had booked it. Bed was comfy.
Tiny room with broken curtain and lights, limescale toilet, chipped table, green swimming pool, dirty hot tub with bottles and a full ashtray stacked at the side, hotel guests acting like they owned the place/lived there (apparently local from overhearing their conversation which was hard to miss), champagne glasses tucked in the bushes (really felt like we were uninvited guests that had turnt up after someone's house party), breakfast menu in the room with choices but when we got to breakfast told we were only allowed eggs anyway with bread or a muffin (as well as the continental buffet which was fine). We asked if there was another menu and we were told that was all they had. Then another tables breakfast arrived and they had beans and bacon with their eggs. We asked the waitress if we could also have bacon to which she said yes and was fine about but strange we could not have it in the first place.... There were only two tables taken so it was very strange, also strange that they have two different menus! Overall it was really not good.
Staff were brilliant very friendly
the bar area smelt of damp and in need of fresheneing up. Very out of the way The rooms had niggly things for example loose door strip, no full size mirror or lighting around the dressing table area (which is bad for women im reliably told)
The hotel buildings are beautiful; old, well-preserved public house that has been very tastefully renovated. It is easy to find and has ample parking. The food in the restaurant, Luke's Place, is outstanding and the breakfast was good also. The staff - when you could find them - were very friendly, professional and helpful. The massage treatments were excellent and good value for money.
Despite the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, there were frequiently times when no member of staff could be found. We waited more than 10 mins to check in because there was no one at the reception desk, no bell to call for assistance and no one in evidence. Similarly, on one occasion, I came down from the room to ask a member of staff a question and had to give up in the end as I simply could not find anyone. Similarly, it was disappointing that there was no information in the room about local activities or amenities and, despite us checking in on a Sunday, it was not made clear to us that the restaurant does not open on Sunday evenings. Finally, the wifi did not work.
Lovely rooms and public areas. Manager very helpful on arrival.
Breakfast was very poor. Service slow and had to keep asking for things not available. Bill wrong on check out but didn't know how to do a refund back on credit card - still waiting for this to be sorted. The restaurant definately let's the hotel down which is a real shame.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food in Luke's was excellent and breakfast had a reasonable choice. The village is quiet but Cookham is walkable and has a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable!
Grout and some walls in the bathroom showing signs of mould, so needs attention.
Loved every minute! lovely welcome, fab room slept so sound no noise (except for thunder storm lol) lovely setting lovely setting barman friendly and helpful.
Not well signposted took us ages to find. Pool was covered so assumed not in use but it was a boiling hot day and that was one of the reasons booked the hotel. Only to find on checking out we only had to ask and they would of let us use the pool and jacuzzi was gutted to be honest as it was a boiling hot weekend
The food was excellent
The air con had broken and we weren't offered a fan or a room change and I was told you were not full. In the morning we were bit able to get into the bathroom due to a wasps nest_so we had a very unortfortable. night due to the heat and had to leave without using the bathroom and had to pay ££100"
The setting was pretty. The bed was comfy.
Horrid room, tiny bathroom with only one light working, you had to be a contortionist to climb through the small gap between the toilet and the shower screen to get into the shower over the bath, the A/C didn't work so it was very hot and stuffy. We couldn't have a window open as we were right next to the steps below ground level which led to reception and was noisy. Service was appalling at breakfast, staff kept forgetting basic items such as cutlery, no milk for tea, there were no tea bags in the room for the morning, the plug for the hairdryer was badly located so the only mirror behind the door was difficult to see into and in general nothing had been thought through in terms of guests' comfort.
The staff were very good and we received a very warm welcome from Tina. Both Tina and Dan were very attentive to our needs. The bed was very comfortable and we spent 2 peaceful nights. The food was average but we did enjoy it.
There seemed to be a lack of staff, especially in the mornings. The waitress did struggle to cope especially as there were 2 large families with unruly children whose hands were being dipped into the fruit bowls at every opportune moment with no parents to control them. This was not very hygienic at all. The bathroom was small in our room, No 2. It may have been designed or fitted by a left-handed person as the stay on the window is on the wrong side so the window could not be made to stay open. All the taps turn the wrong way and the shower was not working properly.
Nice place with good facilities. Staff helpful with plates, crockery etc. so could eat in the room when the restaurant was closed. Beautiful location.
Lots of disruptions e.g. maintenance man coming to the room on the morning of check out rather than waiting until we had actually left/ checked out. No 'do not disturb sign' so woken by the cleaner twice. No information in the room about the hotel, useful numbers etc. Pool used mainly by local children who dive bomb the pool splashing all guests so not a relaxing experience. No food on Sundays and not even any crisps you could buy as a snack or, indeed, any snacks.
Excellent hotel in a perfect location. 5-10 minutes/3 mile drive into Maidenhead. Certainly a preferred choice over any of the central hotels. Value, staff, food and experience all fantastic.
We couldn't find fault with anything, the staff were very helpfull and made us all feel really welcome, the hotel was excellent, we all wished we could have stayed longer
Funky decor, music industry pictures and memorabilia, lovely location and v friendly and helpful staff
I bit off the ebaten track and difficult to find - thank goodness for satnav!
It takes a long time to get anything from ordering dinner to your bill owing to lack if staff!! Took an hour to get my main dinner and 20 mins to get fried egg on toast for breakfast. Drinks expensive. Pool covered and jacuzzi shut up so not able to use. Nightmare to find
