Breakfast was a bit cold but replaced immediately with no fuss
As had room over the bar, music was heard from 8am to 11.30pm ish.
Amazing decor! The room was beautifully decorating. A lovely location too - very pretty.
After arriving on Saturday afternoon, we decided to have a nap before going out in the evening. However the noise from the bar/restaurant downstairs made this impossible. I'm an easy sleeper but even I couldn't sleep! There wwere also small cleanliness issues with blood on one of the bathrobes. The breakfast the next day was inedible. The scrambled eggs had so much cream they were like porridge and the poached eggs tasted of vinegar. The waitress seemed annoyed when this was quietly pointed out when we left our breakfast untouched. When these issues were highlighted on checkout, the only offer was to remove one of the breakfast charges from the bill. We didn't want to make a scene and argue but this seemed inadequate.
I had a lovely courtyard room with roll top bath and all the staff were friendly and welcoming
I had a bit of a nightmare trying to find the hotel in the dark - the narrow lanes are no fun in a big 4 x 4! Worth the effort though.
Great bar superb food top service professional service with personal touch. Fabulous hideaway location chic rooms and amenities cosy bar with open fire. Pool, private sun decks and patios spacious safe private parking. Couldn't ask for more.
Had to leave :(
Staff were friendly, food was tasty, service quick
Room was a mix of styles, you could see what they were trying to achieve, but didn't quite pull it off. Hilariously, I was also charged for eating what I presumed were complimentary biscuits in the room (on the same tray as the kettle etc). I know it's a small thing, but it cheapened the whole stay.
Being charged over £10 for what I though was a complementary half bottle of wine
The room had been laid out really nicely and the breakfast was nice. Nice touch with the sweets and biscuits and dressing gowns. Comfortable beds!
The place looked tired and in need of renovation - lick of paint etc....there were holes in the floor by the bath and broken tiles in the bathroom. It didn't seem like it was being loooked after and things need to be done to improve the look.....
The customer service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. Good food and relaxing environment with spacious rooms
Very comfortable with friendly staff exellent ford
Long wait for breakfast 30 minutes for egg and bacon.
The staff are friendly & very helpful in a laid back, approachable way. The food is fantastic!! The rooms are stylish and comfortable. We had the room with the walk in shower which was amazing!
We've stayed here twice and both times the room has been quite cold and the heating function on the aircon unit didn't stay on long enough for the room to warm up. But the bed was lovely and warm and the robes are nice and thick so its not too much of an issue. Its not enough to put us off staying here again and didn't spoil our overall experience.
Lovely Hotel Warm Food & Drink
Decor, warm welcome
Very quiet, probably because of the time of year
Nice old style country house. Nice rooms , dinner was good
The location is in a nice setting but not a lot of activities / nightlife nearby.
Rooms were spacious and comfy, double bath was fab. Staff couldn't do enough to help you, even stoking the huge fire in the lounge. We will go back.
You can't really walk into cookham and cabs are quite expensive (£16 return into local village)
The room was clean and had a lovely waterfall shower and a bath! The breakfast was really good!
No plug in the bath, one bedside lamp not working and had some issues connecting to WiFi.
Friendly staff Small but comfortable rooms Excellent Breakfast, which was included in crash pad price. Lovely setting Short drive away from Marlow, Henley on Thames etc.
The staff make it, they are warm and friendly whilst being professional. The whole place is clean and smart, the bedroom was very comfortable and nicely furnished and decorated. Then there is the food...excellent!
Not being able to stay longer!
Room and staff
No wi fi in room unable to watch a movie on television.Evening meal was sloppy and undercooked
ambience lovely, breakfast nice, coffee good.
water in shower too hot and unadjustable
The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable, the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to make your stay pleasant, and the food is fantastic. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in this area and I will be staying here for future visits as its that good..
I could not fault this hotel in any way.
The spa treatments we booked. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good.
NO minibar, no safe no working phone or TV in room. All given a payment concession but still an inconvenience to our break
Wifi Cleanliness Quality Location
Lack of staff availability during check in/check out.
We were really looking forward to staying at this hotel as the pictures on the website gave the impression that it was a modern, luxurious small hotel. The staff were all friendly and accommodating and the hotel did have a pleasant feel to it. I can imagine it would be nicer in summer when you are able to use the pool and hot tub. The towels were fluffy and the bed was comfortable.
Crash pad really is tiny. Wouldn't recommend for a couple even for just a night. Also located near entrance to reception so you get a lot of people walking past. Bath had mold round grouting and a light out. Also bath in crash pad was small. Felt the whole hotel needs to be redecorated as looking quite tired. Reception is tiny and doesn't give good first impression of hotel. There was never anybody there either. We got an upgrade as we weren't happy with the condition of the crash pad. The next room was much bigger and what I had expected, although the bath plug was missing, there was a stain on one of the bath robes and the floor in the bathroom was badly cracked. There was no information in the hotel room, which would have been useful especially, fire evacuation procedures. Door handle nearly came off in my hand and husband's chair in breakfast room had a broken handle. Full english breakfast was a bit dry. Felt as though it had been sat under hot lights on hot plate for ages. Very disappointed. Felt all that was offered was done so on a budget. There was no luxurious feel to what looked like a luxurious hotel on the website. It has so much potential and just needs a bit of a makeover.
