It was a beautiful well designed hotel tucked into the middle of the beautiful area of Cookham Dean. It fitted our bill absolutely for a romantic weekend away. Liked the touch of kitsch about the place, felt decadent, and we were! The staff were super friendly and professional and laid back about us not rushing to check out. Liked it all and will hopefully return sometime.

The staff were exremely friendly and couldnt do enough for you. The decor was well designed. The room I was allocated (room 1) was separate to the main building and was a converted out house. The doors to the room were straight off the main courtyard and seating area to the pub and was the only light/window into the bedroom. As this was on the ground level and the bed was only 3ft away from the door, it made me feel vulnerable. The bathroom did have a small windiow that looked onto the main entrance of the car park into the pub. This was distorted glass and had NO BLIND!! as the shower was 2ft away from window, you couldnt possibly shower without being in full view of anyone passing! In addition to this, it really should have tea and coffee facilities.

Great welcome.Very comfortable bed. Nice room decor. Nice terrace area. Sadly, we didn't have chance to eat there. Room needed a few finishing touches - for example, it was difficult to shut the bathroom window, so we had a draught in overnight.

No tea and coffee facilities in room. Broken shower. Restaurant and bar staff very slow despite being almost empty. Food portions very small, overpriced and not served with any vegetables or potatoes etc. We asked for some and got a tea cup sized portion of cabbage and bits given to us - about one large tablespoon each. Left having paid almost £100 feeling very dissatisfied and unfulfilled. No toast with breakfast.

The room, the location and the dining experience were all excellent. Staff were friendly, if a little inexperienced, and attention to detail could have been better. All in all a good hotel...but has the potential to be better

Manager very helpful, nice setting, the second room we stayed in was very nice and spacious.Relaxing pool area and nice dining area.Small hotel made it feel very peaceful and relaxing. First room was very small and too near reception so it was noisy in the morning so we asked too be moved. The bar and dining staff were pleasant but too inexperienced.Breakfast was disappointing I've had much better at 'lesser' hotels. A bit too far away from a town so needed to taxi back and forward each evening, also the taxi recommended by the hotel was 50% more than the taxi from Marlow. Probably a bit overpriced.

Lovely countryside location and perfect for where we needed to be. Too much bling and not enough basics. Poor attention to details in cleaning, decoration (peeling paint), room amenities (no tea/coffee making, no glasses in the bathroom) poor service - some staff didn't bother to say hello and at breakfast they didn't clear plates, wandered out of the restaurant and didn't come back, coffee machine was not heated up for breakfast - small, niggling, irritaing things that spoils your perception. We hope the new gm will improve these issues as it would otherwise be lovely.

What a great hotel! We stayed in the Sanctum Suite which was a great room overlooking the swimming pool area. Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us so we didn't have an opportunity to use the outdoor facilities, but that gives us a good excuse to return! James, the manager, was incredibly helpful and the stay was topped off with a delicious breakfast in bed. We will definitely be back!

It is a lovely secluded hotel, set in lovely grounds and with excellent amenities, such as the pool, which sadly it was too cold to use. The waiter at breakfast was very friendly and helpful as we were in a hurry to get to the airport. It was good value, especially as it included a really good breakfast service. The room itself was quite small and extremely hot (don't know if the duvet was too thick for May). The staff on reception seemed quite busy and preoccupied - not overly attentive on arrival or departure.

For the price the room was perfect. Excellent quality bedding, comfortable bed. The room and bathroom were very clean (fluffy towels and robes of 5 star quality). The breakfast selection was ample and the quality of food of a very high standard. Overall the staff were the icing on the cake, very helpful and genuinely friendly and anticipated our needs with a toddler (highchair, warm milk). Great stay!

Great hotel, was upgraded to room 3 because my "crash pad" was not ready. Room 3 was fantastic but very hot and air con was very noisy but still think its a great hotel.
