Staff were brilliant very friendly
the bar area smelt of damp and in need of fresheneing up. Very out of the way The rooms had niggly things for example loose door strip, no full size mirror or lighting around the dressing table area (which is bad for women im reliably told)
The hotel buildings are beautiful; old, well-preserved public house that has been very tastefully renovated. It is easy to find and has ample parking. The food in the restaurant, Luke's Place, is outstanding and the breakfast was good also. The staff - when you could find them - were very friendly, professional and helpful. The massage treatments were excellent and good value for money.
Despite the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, there were frequiently times when no member of staff could be found. We waited more than 10 mins to check in because there was no one at the reception desk, no bell to call for assistance and no one in evidence. Similarly, on one occasion, I came down from the room to ask a member of staff a question and had to give up in the end as I simply could not find anyone. Similarly, it was disappointing that there was no information in the room about local activities or amenities and, despite us checking in on a Sunday, it was not made clear to us that the restaurant does not open on Sunday evenings. Finally, the wifi did not work.
Lovely rooms and public areas. Manager very helpful on arrival.
Breakfast was very poor. Service slow and had to keep asking for things not available. Bill wrong on check out but didn't know how to do a refund back on credit card - still waiting for this to be sorted. The restaurant definately let's the hotel down which is a real shame.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food in Luke's was excellent and breakfast had a reasonable choice. The village is quiet but Cookham is walkable and has a good choice of pubs and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable!
Grout and some walls in the bathroom showing signs of mould, so needs attention.
Loved every minute! lovely welcome, fab room slept so sound no noise (except for thunder storm lol) lovely setting lovely setting barman friendly and helpful.
Not well signposted took us ages to find. Pool was covered so assumed not in use but it was a boiling hot day and that was one of the reasons booked the hotel. Only to find on checking out we only had to ask and they would of let us use the pool and jacuzzi was gutted to be honest as it was a boiling hot weekend
The food was excellent
The air con had broken and we weren't offered a fan or a room change and I was told you were not full. In the morning we were bit able to get into the bathroom due to a wasps nest_so we had a very unortfortable. night due to the heat and had to leave without using the bathroom and had to pay ££100"
The setting was pretty. The bed was comfy.
Horrid room, tiny bathroom with only one light working, you had to be a contortionist to climb through the small gap between the toilet and the shower screen to get into the shower over the bath, the A/C didn't work so it was very hot and stuffy. We couldn't have a window open as we were right next to the steps below ground level which led to reception and was noisy. Service was appalling at breakfast, staff kept forgetting basic items such as cutlery, no milk for tea, there were no tea bags in the room for the morning, the plug for the hairdryer was badly located so the only mirror behind the door was difficult to see into and in general nothing had been thought through in terms of guests' comfort.
The staff were very good and we received a very warm welcome from Tina. Both Tina and Dan were very attentive to our needs. The bed was very comfortable and we spent 2 peaceful nights. The food was average but we did enjoy it.
There seemed to be a lack of staff, especially in the mornings. The waitress did struggle to cope especially as there were 2 large families with unruly children whose hands were being dipped into the fruit bowls at every opportune moment with no parents to control them. This was not very hygienic at all. The bathroom was small in our room, No 2. It may have been designed or fitted by a left-handed person as the stay on the window is on the wrong side so the window could not be made to stay open. All the taps turn the wrong way and the shower was not working properly.
Nice place with good facilities. Staff helpful with plates, crockery etc. so could eat in the room when the restaurant was closed. Beautiful location.
Lots of disruptions e.g. maintenance man coming to the room on the morning of check out rather than waiting until we had actually left/ checked out. No 'do not disturb sign' so woken by the cleaner twice. No information in the room about the hotel, useful numbers etc. Pool used mainly by local children who dive bomb the pool splashing all guests so not a relaxing experience. No food on Sundays and not even any crisps you could buy as a snack or, indeed, any snacks.
Excellent hotel in a perfect location. 5-10 minutes/3 mile drive into Maidenhead. Certainly a preferred choice over any of the central hotels. Value, staff, food and experience all fantastic.
We couldn't find fault with anything, the staff were very helpfull and made us all feel really welcome, the hotel was excellent, we all wished we could have stayed longer
Funky decor, music industry pictures and memorabilia, lovely location and v friendly and helpful staff
I bit off the ebaten track and difficult to find - thank goodness for satnav!
It takes a long time to get anything from ordering dinner to your bill owing to lack if staff!! Took an hour to get my main dinner and 20 mins to get fried egg on toast for breakfast. Drinks expensive. Pool covered and jacuzzi shut up so not able to use. Nightmare to find
Peaceful location, well appointed. Friendly and helpful staff.
Swimming pool, friendly staff, accommodation, breakfast. The openness of the hotel to visitors nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.
light in bathroom not working plus bedside light. Air con not working, but fan ok. Toilet seat not firtted correctly but I am sure these items will be rectified
Comfortable beds food Location
Mixed decor Dirty cups Part blocked sink (for three days) No attention to detail ie. no tea bags in room first day No milk 2nd day All toiletries taken away 3rd day Chef going out for eggs whist we wait for breakfast (with stewed coffee) Dirty cups (always set on left of table)
Staff were fabulous, although things out of our control kept going wrong we could not fault the help we received from the staff. Loved the courtyard outside of our room and the music was fab.
In room 1 where we stayed there were some small finishing touches that need to be made. A tv bracket on the wall (tv not connected) should really be taken down and a the ceiling in the bathroom needs some work, other than that it is lovely.
It was quiet. Bed was comfortable.
Property was difficult to find. Hotel restaurant was fully booked and we had to eat in the local pub both nights.
The staff, sumptuous bed, food, best chips ever.
The shower. Am sure it would have been good. Was there some knack to it? Other guest complained too. Room very hot. Didn't find air con control until about to leave. So much effort, nothing too much trouble but attention to detail needed regarding maintenance. Toilet seat was the wrong shape for the toilet!
Very nice food
Not all the light bulbs are working and in the bathroom this made shaving very difficult. No shaving mirror, broke, air conditioning not working. At breakfast crockery had not been washed properly. I have stayed here many times and it appears to be going down hill.
The Suite is extremely spacious and well-appointed. The bed is very generously proportioned with terrific bed linen. The bath is big enough for 6 people whilst 2 can almost swim lengths!
Staff were friendly and helpful, no fuss about moving us when TV n room not working. Breakfast good. Outdoor pool very nice. Bed very comfortable
Property felt a bit tired and in need of some updating and decoration.
Lovely peaceful setting. Perfect for a romantic break.
The pool was not in use.
Room was of excellent quality. Dining room and breakfast was good. Hotel in a beautiful country village. Staff very helpful and considerate. A very enjoyable stay.
Wifi poor/non existent in room I was put in but In fairness when I raised this I was moved to an alternative room with good wifi. connectivity.
