We stayed in one the old rooms & enjoyed the atmosphere & the four poster bed.
the hotel is very smart and comfortable.
restaurant service not what expected, more like ordering your food in a canteen.
Little bit of noise at night above beer garden
a story in every corner of the inn
dare I complain the water was to hot - never!
Relatively easy to find
Staff, rooms, food and it being a bit different from the norm. Loved it!
Location,history,museum,bar,food,nice clean room
Look and atmosphere Room
Restaurant - might as well been on a ferry Bed - mattress was not fit to sleep on, was old , soft / worn out, creaking springs Bathroom - no hot water and pressure very low no shower
Loved the relaxed atmosphere and the remoteness of the place. Lovely room, clean, comfortable and quaint.
The restaurant was a little bit of a let down. We were hoping for a romantic meal, the food was a little basic but good, bar food really but all in all good value.
although on this occasion there were obvious staff shortages on this visit the breakfast when the buffet was eventually replenished was excellent well done .the check in and check out went smoothly and was efficiently handled by the reception staff thank you all
Great room and staff. Our room was spotless. We loved the breakfast too and the service.
Rather lengthy wait to order food in the evening however it was a very good meal.
Bedrooms and Hotel section great. Room was very clean and tidy. Sky TV - bonus and Wifi was OK. No Ghost , but hey ...
Restaurant, food was mediocre and the setting has been ruined for commercial interest and tourists. The musac was horrendous. A couple of the staff in the restaurant were surly and not welcoming. The lack of waiter service at breakfast a huge mistake for paying guests, I wouldn't stay again because of this. We had to queue for a breakfast buffet with a coach load of tourists, and had to wait around for 15-30 mins for sausages and bacon as the kitchen could not keep up and was understaffed for the glory of profit I would guess.
Museum and location
Cold food (breakfast)
very good stay
Friendly bar staff
Very disorganised breakfast service -1 toaster between all guests .
creaky floorboards sloping floors friendly helpful staff
tacky gift shop outdated museum - additional cost involved cafeteria style food kept warm for long periods mediocre breakfast - limited options bed uncomfortable - kept rolling into the middle of the bed hairdryer did not work clothes left in the wardrobe toilet seat soiled with menstrual blood (was sorted out promptly once reported) cheap fittings and poor reproduction furniture no fixed shower cost as much as a luxury hotel but have stayed in far superior budget hotels & bed & breakfast's
The room was lovely Entertainment was enjoyable
Could not get into room at stated time of 4.00 pm, it was after 4.30 when we were able to check in Evening meal was suboptimal, everything about the chicken curry meal was dry (we were not charged for this as we complained and returned it), steak meal was just about satisfactory Dining room was chaotic during the evening meal with staff running round like headless chickens Staff not really very attentive Breakfast supposed to be served from 7.00 am, but not ready until around 7.30am. Food just about adequate
Despite staff cleaning tables between customers, a sticky residue remained, requiring a different type of cleanser
the staff were helpful
menu very poor and unless you like noise don't have the room above the bar
The atmosphere was great, lots of history. The room was ideal, the bed comfy.
The dining room was not hotel guest friendly in the evening. The bar was full and the tv in the other eating area took away any privacy. Breakfast was very good.
The ambiance of the hotel is great.
The food was appalling. Do not eat here.
Friendly staff. Nice room - very clean.
Evening menu - very 80's. Needed reviewing and refining.
Comfort, quiet, excellent cusine, could not clear my plate. Really enjoyed the thunder storm & howling winds!!
Late booking but good room. Great location for walks on the moor.
An Inn, so not hotel food!
The Jamaica Inn was the highlight of our entire trip to England. Our next visit would only be to that area and the Inn, nothing else could possibly compare. The staff/food/ rooms/management and location were really excellent.
The only thing we didn't like was the fact that, even though we booked in Feb. for July, we couldn't get enough nights booked.
