Score from 115 reviews Superb
The bathroom was tired with mould in the grout, a poor shower head and the shower door is tricky to open from the inside. For an £85 per night room I would expect more.
Clean crisp sheets and towels. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
Furniture and carpets a little tired. Unable to open windows for fresh air hence condensation on windows.
wonderful little inn within distance of an event we were attending. tidy smart rooms and excellent fresh cooked breakfast.
nothing place was great
Window wasn't in very good condition; I was worried it might break when I opened it!
Country pub/hotel, really handy for work
The staff went above and beyond for all our needs. We had dinner in the conservatory, breakfasts both days and all the meals were fabulous. Right across from the train station so you don't have to pay the high rates in London or Cambridge!
Very good value and friendly, very nice breakfast and decent food in general.
Rooms could do with a bit of TLC but as its such good value that's being a bit picky.
Nothing at all.
Not very friendly landlord. Poor breakfast, room smelled of damp.Could not get wifi .
This was a superb choice for myself and a friend to spend the night. Very comfortable rooms, lovely staff and superb breakfast.
We needed accommodation for us & our two dogs for a local event, The Jester was in an ideal location for us. Both us & our dogs were given a warm welcome, all the staff were very friendly & helpful. We'd probably go for an executive room another time for a bit more space (but then we did have a dog bed too!). The Jester is set in beautiful countryside with endless walking opportunities & there is a station within waking distance if guests don't have a car. We ate in The Jester both evenings & the food was good, not fine dining but perfectly acceptable. Full English breakfast was very good. We'd certainly stay again if in the area.
If you're a light sleeper, traffic does whoosh past intermittently at night/early morning.
Lovely, friendly and helpful staff.
The staff were friendly, the room was pleasant and the breakfast was very good.
The railway noise.
Staff and food
busy road can be noisy if windows open as they need to be in summer
I have stayed here a few times, and they are are always fantastic, staff are super, the foo is excellent and the rooms are great - so much better than a cooki cutter corporate hotel!
Food was good and value for money. Staff helpful and attentive.
Room was poor quality. The lock for wardrobe was a folded piece of cardboard! Light over bathroom mirror, did not work. Road was noisy and secondary glazing inadequate.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. The location was ideal for my visit.
The shower was very poor, needs replacing or some TLC. The breakfast was not as good as previously experienced - in particular the sausages!
Staff, atmosphere and food.
Wifi worked but could not cope with streaming, may be due to this part of the uk Im use to London.
Decor needs updating
The staff were good, the food price of food and drink the comfort of the room links to surrounding area by car or train station over the road the whole of down stairs good
hotel a little tired in places
It was good to have meals available on arrival, a welcome feature when arriving from a far distance. It was also quiet which was restful.
The menu for breakfast listed in the room offered gratefruit as an option, however this was not available when requested. This was dissapointing!
I was happy to find The Jester Inn. What a lovely place, my room was nice and comfortable the food was amazing and the staff were friendly. I miss this place already and would definitely stay here again.
staff were really friendly food to a high standard
Returned first meal, then decided on curry. Had to return this as I could not eat it. Member of staff informed me the chef had used a new ready made up sauce and was not used to it!! So gave up eating.
Bar area was very good with comfortable seating. Outdoor area was quiet and had a lovely garden with sufficient seating. We had evening meal which was very good and prepared and presented to a high standard. The breakfast English was very good and plentiful. The rooms were very good and had enough storage for all your clothes.
