Built by Mewes and Davis, who designed The Ritz, the building has retained many of its original Edwardian features including its gilt curves, frescoes and rosewood panelling. The Jones has a stunning theatre commissioned in the late 1800s by Edward VII for his mistress, Lillie Langtree. It has been restored to its former glory and provides a stage for London’s emerging creative talent. Each evening guests can sample a slice of contemporary cultural London, with 20-minute performances of music, theatre and poetry.
In keeping with this glamorous property, The Jones restaurant will be positioned as an haute bistro; an elegant, traditional French brasserie complete with a classic cocktail bar. The executive chef, Eric Allouard, has worked in a number of 2 Michelin-starred establishments in France as well as London eateries and hotel-restaurants. His menus will be characterised by modern French dishes featuring only the freshest seasonal ingredients, with many ingredients imported from France.
In contrast to the historic architecture of the public spaces, the fully equipped guest rooms have very modern facilities: flat-screen interactive TVs, free Wi-Fi (for the first hour) and MP3 ports. The rooms have subtle tones and thoughtful, understated styling with mood-lighting and soft pillows.
