Hotel was very clean, breakfast wasn't included in my booking but was offered at a price of £5 which was very good value for money. The dining room was very clean and we were served quickly. Staff were very helpful and friendly
The front door was very difficult to open and close, it would only close with a good slam, our room was right above it so heard a lot of noise from people coming and going and the traffic. The room was also very hot and no way of opening the windows nor was a fan provided. The facilities were very basic but was ok for the one night we stayed. Did not sleep very well due to the noise from outside though this was not the hotel's fault
Price and location were crucial as I live out of town and was attending a function which finished long after the last bus / train had departed. It was basic but functional and what you'd expect for the price. I would use it again if required.
TV in the room didn't really work Quite slammy doors as people left in the morning
The location is close to many restaurants, shop, subway station around 10 min walk and a bus stop 1 min from the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with shared toilet and shower. Good value of money and in West-End area of Glasgow.
Shared toilet next to shared shower. Confusing shower heater.
Staff were lovely. Breakfast was fantastic and was only 5 pounds! Room was cosy and had a tv and sink. Bathrooms were very clean. Although i had a room with shared bathroom a shower and bathroom was always free.
Wifi and tv connection were not the best.
Location and everything
Great Location close museums and good eating places. Hotel clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel.
Friendly staff. Lovely old building. Breakfast for £5 was amazingly tasty and I stay in many hotels. Really quiet location even though it is close to the Great Western Road.
A little dated but perhaps the retro look ( but don't think they were copies) of the mugs held memories from my choldhood
location very convenient for transport, shops and meals.
we were in room 2 and on arrival there was a dehumidifier running in the room. We had trouble getting the door to lock and someone came to help and said it was a new lock. She told us to go out to dinner and she would fix it. On returning we were unable to unlock the door and it took the lady a bout 6 shots to make it happen. This will be looked at. In the morning the person in room 1 took a shower and we heard gurgling in our shower/sink and there was a fairly strong smell from the drain (maybe why the machine was in the room?). I suggest that since rooms 1 to 7 are in the basement, the plumbing needs to be looked at.
Had a great stay, value for money and good breakfast, will def use again
The lady who checked me in helped me with my case up to the second floor. Very handy to Hillhead Subway. Felt clean. Stayed in single room on second floor with shared shower room but there are 2. No waiting to use shower or toilet. Felt I got good value for money in this location. 40 pound room only but could have had breakfast for 5 pound extra. Would stay again on an overnight stay.
Nothing was a negative. Better value than another similarly priced place in this area so would stay again.
The room was rather clean.
The rooms facing the street are like hell. The windows are useless and it is like sleeping on a busy high way. There is no way to get any sleep! The noise is killing.
Beds were very uncomfortable. Never slept so bad. Staff were not helpfull at all, rude and inconsideride in mornings. On day of check out (11am) I had a knock on my door at 10am asking 'if I was leaving yet'. This is shocking customer service. Would never stay there again. Worst hotel I have stayed at
Quick and efficient check in Brilliant location for Botanic gardens and Oran Mor Comfortable room
Location was good, staff was friendly and helpful, nice lounge room.
I had room 4 (in the basement), small and with blocked windows; there was an air cleaner to improve quality of air but quite loud, toilets on the floor. Overall, it depends what you want: I paid 45 pounds for a room that is advertised on their website for around 30 pounds. So, 30 pound would be a good deal, 45 a bit less but still fair.
Being in a cold damp cellar room with no outlook (a brick wall) Lack of TV channels Dirty Linen Rude Ineffiecient Staff Stayed in much better places in Glasgow for less money (as I did the following night on the same road)
Room was small but clean and pleasant. Large comfortable double bed and Widescree TV on wall. Convenient location for nightlife - just around the corner from Byres Road/West End.
Despite the stated checkout time being 1100 and my having placed the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on my door I had a member of staff banging on the door at approximately 1000 asking "are you leaving?". Shower facilities are very cramped and the shower itself was incredibly low powered - barely produced more than a dribble - and took several minutes for any warm water to come through.
I knew I wasn't getting a luxurious place because I wasn't prepared to spend much. It was near to the university which was my main concern. The room was comfortable enough and I was kept well supplied with tea. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
If there was anything, it was that I got some noise, but this was infrequent and didn't put me off.
The hotel was very clean.
Our room was facing a wall and it had a damp smell. The pillows were very poor.
Cleanliness is outstanding. The staff were couldn't do enough for you. The price rate was very reasonable. The location is spot on. Would definitely recommend it.
The fact that there wasn't a lift up to the second floor. (I am not as young as I used to be). That the room that I had was next door to a couple of very noisy boys. (I know that this wasn't the hotel's fault)
The sitting room. Breakfast. Plenty of places to go for a meal around.
The uncomfortable bed in the standard room, no free parking.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for the money. Plenty of buses pass hotel. Many shops and cafes/bars within walking distance
Parking not very convenient ~ but location makes anything else difficult.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful
The "double" room was very small The bed was small and little room to move about in the room The toilet and shower was shared and down a corridor We were in a basement and the breakfast room was on the first floor. Lots of stairs - no lift (I am partially disabled) Parking is difficult
It was quiet. Clean.
Wi fi didn't work.
The staff was super friendly and welcoming and it was great value for money. We asked for an extra duvet which was no problem and we could leave our bags at the hotel after checking out. The area around the hotel is great, lots of restaurants and small cafés and you can go for a lovely walk in the botanical gardens just around the corner. It's only a 10-minutes bus ride from Buchanan bus station and there's a metro stop a short walk away. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in Glasgow!
Our room was basically in the cellar so it felt a little cramped and dark but for one night it was totally fine. And the friendly staff made up for it!
Didn't have that much of appeal to me personally, although good nights sleep.
Battled to unlock rickety doorlock on more than one occassion, which requires seeing to. Could hear other guests having a romping time in the opposite room, and quite a creaky place so you may keep others awake with nocturnal activities.
