breakfast was good and well cooked staff were also good and looked after me during my stay
Breakfast was great as always, staff very friendly and welcoming again. This time we ended staying an extra two nights due to ferry cancellations, they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and assisted us in ordering a takeaway to cheer us up.
large room with a large bathroom. a tasty breakfast. very welcoming.
lots of stairs, had to go down a flight to go up!
So close to the ferry terminal and confortable as well
The dog waking me up.
Location is great staff were very friendly good nights sleep with room to the back breakfast was lovely plent of everything tea coffee toast etc !
It was a bit dated but the staff made up for that !
Reasonably priced, pleasant cheerful staff, great music on as background in the bar - jazz, blues - quality stuff.
Clean and warm accommodation, perfectly adequate for a short stay and near the station and ferries.
A little bit impersonal.
I liked the simplicity and lack of pretension in this small hotel. Also the quite wonderful and plentiful cooked breakfast. It has a quiet cosy bar to sit in and so, is excellent choice for a solo traveller. It is only a short walk from the city shops and close to the rail station and other amenities. Very good value.
It is not a pretty street and it has a utilitarian view of the ferries docking which some people might find in attractive.
Staff very helpful
Good location and pleasant staff, bar and rooms a bit dated but would defo stay again.
Size of room for a single was very good. Breakfast big and nice choice. Close to Oban station and ferry.
Curtains did not block out light. I was getting up early anyway but would have been woken up by the ferry's security announcements at 7.30am if I wasn't.
Good location. Good staff.
Expensive for the comfort. Basic furniture.
We arrived late and checked out early for a Staffa Island excursion - this hotel was literally just a place to grab some rest for a few hours. The limited interaction that we had with the staff was very pleasant and they were accommodating to our rushed schedule. The hotel was not the poshest, but we were looking for cheap and convenient given the short stay, and this certainly fit the bill. Clean enough, slightly tired interior, but again not bad enough to be an issue. The room was huge - we reserved a triple and ended up with a double bed and three singles - certainly enough space for my husband. 12 year old son and I. Overall a positive stay.
The windows were older and I couldn't get then to shut. Could certainly have been operator error, but it made for a chilly night with the wind coming in from the harbor directly outside. My husband rather enjoyed the breeze, but I was colder than I would've liked. Not enough of an issue to contact the staff over.
Good breakfast nice wait staff. Beds were decent. Location wasn't the greatest.
Carpets are dirty . Needed more instructions on how to turn on shower. Internet did not work in rooms.
Friendly staff. Rooms a bit old and "tired" but good value for money. Very good breakfast. Very convenient for station and town centre.
Near to ferry terminal and railway station Friendly staff Big bath Plenty of fresh fruit at breakfast
Part of pub in rather down-at-heel area Room well-worn Bathroom cramped
Central location. Room and bed linen etc. very clean. Breakfast was excellent - cooked and served by very friendly and helpful young man.
Convenience & Value for money
A little old world
great breakfast, clean tidy room, excellent location.
Excellent location Easy to find
Not the greatest range for breakfast Staff not always available for queries - waiting at the bar took a while to ask sometimes.
Location Price Beds Shower Car park just opposite
Not a dislike just a comment not a ideal place for families
No scrambled eggs
Was staying over for the Oban cycling sportive. Staff could not be more helpful to me. Friendly family atmosphere. Enjoyed a great night in the bar after a hard days cycling listening to the local musicians play the squeeze box. I will definately return to the Kelvin next year.
Outside of building. Lack of free parking
If money matters then this is an great surprise, low prices for a very good location, staff cleaning and fair facilities. I hope to visit Oban again and I would probably stay there again.
