We received a warm friendly welcome and had a beautiful room where we could hear the sea even if it was too foggy to see it. We will definitely be back in the spring/summer.
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
the view was brilliant, good off road parking, good security, nice host with good explanation of facilities, no breakfast available but discount vouchers for café near by, which did a fantastic breakfast with nice sausages and a perfect egg.
slightly disappointed about having to go out for breakfast but this was close and was a well presented breakfast.
We were trading at Whitby Goth Weekend, and to say we needed a good nights sleep is an understatement, but the bed was fantastic! The first night we arrived having loaded out in Whitby, I laid down and almost fell asleep immediately! As a base for our "working holiday" it was perfectly fine. Not least because upon checking out, we could wonder around Scarborough for a change, rather than Whitby.
The private bathroom was lacking a hand washing sink, although there is a sink in the bedroom, this is perhaps not the most sanitary arrangement given the necessary "touching" of door handles with dirty hands... Using the shower to wash your hands seems a little excessive.
Had family room found toilet was leaking after difficulty to report it was told would not able to fix till following day and clearly had been like that for sometime still not fixed following day went to ask for refund to go else where but could get no reply no breakfast dining room always locked no service serving in bar area beds in poor condition felt like was being watched on CCTV strange place !
single size room with a double bed crammed in. overlooked a main road but had no soundproofing advertised a bar but this was shut. dining room was perm locked. we had to phone them to get in room very cold as heating switched off. BASICALLY the hotel was closed but we were charged full price
View from room was fantastic.
Wi-Fi was accessible downstairs but unable to access from our room - possibly due to us being on top floor.
Location and cleanliness
Faulty plug sockets, lamp switches were faulty Wi Fi connection was very poor also impossible to have shower as no bracket to hold shower head
The private bathroom being across a landing
Lovely to see we had a seaview room and only had to go up one flight of stairs, we were also allowed to leave luggage there once we had checked out until our taxi came. Would definitely go back if we could have same room.
Nothing of significance.
We had a tiny room at the top of the building which was clean and had a comfy bed. Since we had paid a bargain price we were relieved to find that it was well kept and we did have a sea view, even if we had to stand up to see it!
No hook in the bathroom or place to put anything. The windows could have done with a clean.
We loved the location close to the North Bay amenities, including cinema and excellent cafe. The view from the landing is great and the room was laid out neatly. Good value for money.
I'd have liked more windows to open, or the one that did to open wider.
the hotel, which had mould in the bathroom, rattely old windows, the bunkbeds (for the kids) were on the last legs, told the information about breakfast was on the website but i could,nt find it but the prices for the meals in the hotel are extortionate especially for cereals and toast just glad there was a cafe over the road will not be using the kenton again
Me and my daughter recently came for a 3 night stay at the Kenton, we arrived on Monday afternoon and we checked in straight away and thankfully we were only on the first floor (our suitcase had broken and was rather heavy) the manager carried the case up for us which was really appreciated :) The room was a decent size and the bed was really comfy, we had a separate private bathroom which was fine for us. The location was away from the main part of Scarborough's south bay which I liked as it was a lovely walk along the coast to get to it (or a bus which we got a few times). Me and my daughter (who's 11) really enjoyed our holiday and the next time we come to Scarborough we would stay at the Kenton again!! :)
Having to come home!!!
Convenient location, right on the beach, plenty of towels.
Staff polite, but not very forthcoming with information. No-one about whenever I was passing through downstairs, so would have to call mobile or ring to find someone (number was displayed for this). This seemed like too much trouble for most things I wanted to know, so I didn't bother.
very nice helpfull friendly staff owner we had a nice room with a sea view perfect clean rooms
The room. Clean and comfortable.
No breakfast either days; the reason given by the proprietor as "it is too early because of the cricket". Also, one and a half hours after leaving the hotel, I had a rude phone call telling me to return with the room key. As I had handed this in on departure 90 minutes previously I was unimpressed. The caller the said "then come back an move your car". As I had done so on departure, I was even less impressed. Rude and offensive; and although I go to S'bro three or four times a year I will not be going there again.
We had a wonderful stay, the owner and staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable for a family of 4. All we could see out the windows was the ocean which was just across the street. The location was great, secure, quiet, close to beach and restaurants. We walked along the beach walkway into the evening and felt very safe.
Only minor downside was there was no wifi in the room possibly because we were on an upper floor. But we did access it in the nice and comfortable lounge on the main floor.
Had a nice 4 days here
Location excellent. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff very helpful. Free parking.
Breakfast was good and pleasant service. Easy parking access
Would have preferred a shower to a bath No sea view at back and faifly noisy wuth traffic at night
Had to climb 8 flights of stairs-nightmare! No one on reception .Rang bell several times and was eventually let in by other staying guests. When owner did arrive we received a very frosty reception.
the location, cost of money, specially the wifi which was free
The location was a bonus for me with 3 small children.the staff were friendly and helpful - (always appreciated as a1 parent family).
Water hot, bed was ok
Tea and coffee had to request for it. We had a seperate bathroom to our room which was never cleaned through our visit. No soap in the bathroom no fresh towels. Pillows very lumpy. No cooked food on offer although dining room and no option to order before you went. Not allowed food in rooms however hotel policy was to allow residents to eat downstairs in what was a bar area which was never open. However if you ate there you had to provide own plates and cutlery glasses etc. soon as you finish eating the owner came out complaining that you have eaten indoors and expects you to outside. Stating chairs outside. Fish and chips apparently stink so bad it offended him. Sprayed air freshener around you whilst clearing up making it obvious not happy. Very rude very arrogant and obnoxious. Caught outside our room listening to us. Stated later on another review that this was not the case as chest outside was unlocked. As a police officer I took exception to this especially as obvious was watching us when came in on CCTV or motion centres felt like constantly being watched. We couldn't wait to leave. Customer service non existent and it is obvious doesn't want to spend money looking after customers just happy to take it. Felt sorry for lady who has own business next door who helps as she gets the brunt of it as he is never there unless to make you feel uncomfortable He made sure he was not there when we checked out at 10am. He knew we had leave to 10 as told us night before even though we requested late leave week before attending. Funnily enough the time caught outside of our room was the time we discussed about making sure we saw him before we left to discuss our unhappiness and possible small on refund strange enough no where to be seen the poor lady had to hear to our moans
Staff very friendly and helpful. Check out was 10am but we were able to leave our car in the off street parking for the full day which was excellent.
Breakfast was an additional extra, rather than being in with the price.
