The King Alfred Pub  

The King Alfred Pub was a really great place to stay. The pub itself is very nice - a real pub with excellent food at very reasonable prices. The rooms are modern, newly decorated and very clean with excellent showers, tea and coffee making facilities and flat screen tv. We booked a double and a small double and were very pleased with both rooms. The small double was a great size for one person and the double room was surprisingly roomy. The rooms are also very quiet - you would not know there is a busy pub below.We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend The King Alfred Pub to anyone going to Winchester. It is a short walk to the town centre but we did not mind that at all.

Excellent location with relaxed staff. Room was clean, tidy and modern with plenty of space. Good beer selection and a great traditional breakfast offered in the morning.

Its location, friendly, family atmosphere and its olde worldey pub character. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Nothing springs to mind except the noise and vibration from the washing machine on Wednesday morning, we thought it was an earth tremor!!

liked everything - we were told before we arrived that the twin room was small but it was perfectly o.k. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food good. Very comfortable beds. We thought that as it was a pub it might be noisy but it wasn't at all . .So near to town but so quiet.- amazing.

probably needed a bit of heat in the dining area at breakfast .It did feel a bit chilly when there were not many people there.

Parking might be a problem - we were there over a Bank Holiday so no traffic wardens - the pub can supply a parking permit.

Good location about 10 minutes from the top of the High Street. Parking available ( with permit) outside. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. We also ate there one night and the food was good and reasonably priced. Room was spacious and comfortable.

The the heating was off at the beginning of April and we found the room cold at times (hence rated only good for comfort).

The room was very nice and the people very friendly. Our only issue was trying to find it, which was awful but completely our fault.

Good food, good service

Second visit, as good as the first! Clean and comfortable, great facilities.pub serves great food in the evening, short walk to shops and amenities. Will definitely book again!
