“The staff were very friendly and helpfull,it was quiet and the food was great.”
Ian,
Liverpool
This traditional 16th-century inn is in the pretty village of Ockley, just off route A29, and has free parking and rooms with private bathrooms. The Kings Arms has a quiet location in the Surrey countryside, between Dorking and Horsham. It has lots of original character, with low ceilings and wooden beams. In the winter, there is a real log fire and in the summer, there is the award-winning garden. The rooms with private bathrooms have TVs, telephones, suit presses and tea/coffee. The Kings Arms offers good food, wine and beer at affordable prices. The traditional food is made using fresh seasonal, local produce and includes Sunday roasts, steaks and homemade pies. Reservations for meals are recommended. Hotel Rooms: 6

The interim staff is doing a good job of covering the position. The problem is that there is always an interim staff! The parent corporation will spend no money to fix the place's little problems. They keep losing management. Cook & kitchen staff are GREAT!! Wait & bar staff also very good. 500 year-old buildings have their charm! 500 year-old matresses do NOT! Advertised they have Wi-Fi. It had been unhooked for a month when we arrived. The staff told us to walk to the neighboring inn to use their Wi-Fi. "We do not plan to re-attach ours." After going there & seeing their facility, we changed our booking, left King's Arms after the 2nd night & spent the rest of our stay @ Inn on the Green!! They not only have good Wi-Fi, but a complete & active bar scene, local customers to talk with, etc. WE did go back to King's Arms twice more for the FOOD!! They do have the best cook in the area!!

The bedroom heating was adequate. Having booked a twin room with bath we were given a double room with shower. The bed linen was dirty, smelly and unironed. It appeared that someone had slept in the bed and it was unchanged. The cover smelt of cooking oil. The carpet was filthy with hair, staples and rubber bands on the floor. The shower tray had mould growth and the towels were tired and stained. There was dust eveywhere and no clean surfaces. There were half used toiletries in the bathroom cupboard and bedside drawer. There was no plug for the sink and the overflow outlet was filthy. There were no tumblers for water and one drinking mug in a double room. A novel left in bedside drawer and a phone charger all giving the impression that someone was living in the room and had cleared out in a hurry. The walls were dirty and stained as was the carpet. If we were not so exhausted from a long days travel we would not have stayed here and would never recommend this to anyone. It was a thoroughly horrible nights stay and the continental breakfast was grim. It was very obvious and clear to us that the propretors did not know how to run this establishment and had no social graces whatever. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on that.

The people! Sue (Land Lady) and Mark aka Foxy (General Dogs Body) couldn't have helped more. Very accommodating and friendly making the most of what they have at The Kings Arms. Rooms were basic (but clean) and the whole place could do with a bit of money spent on it. That said, its an old charming building with good character. The staff make this place seem and feel better than you'd expect!

The bed was comfortable, the heat from the radiator once it came on was great Staff were nice Water pressure low so shower was poor. Light over sink broken, so difficult to shave. Breakfast was hot drink, toast, cereal and juice only lighting in the bar and restaurant was stark

Reasonably priced for what it is. Rooms could do with a face lift although this was reasonably priced for what it is. Staff were accommodating about late night arrival. Fair breakfast. Shower was merely a luke warm trickle after a 5 minute naked wait. Bathroom door also had tendency for getting stuck which would present a frustrating situation if you were staying on your own in the room. Both issues reported to the manager. Was told that the owner was aware of a "list" of issues to address including these but hadn't got round to dealing with them!

Good location for us - close to a function we were attending nearby. Pub looked ok, but we didn't get to sample any of the food. Room was very small, but adequate for us as we spent very little time there. Not particularly cheap either.

The evening meal was very nice. I was very dissapointed by my stay at the King's Arms. The room was cold and very dimly lit. It was a very small room, and not very clean. The bathroom was not clean either. The continential breakfast was also very dissapointing. I had booked for myself and on behalf of other guests, all of whom were eqully unimpressed.
