The Kings Arms

Located in the picturesque village of Ockley, this traditional 16th century coaching inn is set within an area of peace, beauty and tranquillity, which combine to create the ideal setting for a country break.

At the heart of the inn is good food, wine and beer served at affordable prices. The specials board changes regularly to reflect the finest, freshest seasonal produce available locally. On Sundays, a traditional roast is available and the inn also offers fresh prime steaks, cooked to order, as well as wholesome homemade pies of the week. Everything is fresh and local suppliers are used wherever possible. In the winter, food can be enjoyed inside by the roaring log fire and in the summer, there is the award-winning garden.

On the A29, between Dorking and Horsham, in the heart of Surrey, The Kings Arms is full of character, with low ceilings and wooden beams. The friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere makes visiting the inn a truly relaxing pleasure.

The managers and staff at The Kings Arms are delighted to make any event as hassle free and memorable as they can. They are equipped with a private dining room that can seat 35 people for private functions, meetings and events.

The Inn does get very busy on special days so they would recommend that you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Food & beverage

The Chef, Ric, uses his excellent culinary skills to maintain a bursting specials board, selecting prime steaks to cook-to-order, creating and preparing traditional Sunday roasts as well as delicious, homemade wholesome pies of the week. Everything is fresh and local suppliers are used wherever possible.

In order to match the diversity and high standard of the food, the kitchen works closely with wine merchants to bring you the best and the most exciting wines to cater for every palate, preference and event. And, as not everyone is a wine fanatic, carefully selected draught and bottled beers as well as ales are available to make sure that everyone is catered for.

Travel information

The inn is situated on the A29 between Dorking and Horsham in the village of Ockley. Driving south, it is the first Inn on the left-hand side.

Important information

Please note that as The Kings Arm is an inn, there are not normally staff on duty during the afternoon, so if you are arriving between 15:00 and 18:00, please make your way to the back entrance; your room number will be displayed on the welcome board. The staff look forward to welcoming you after 18:00.
