The hotel was clean friendly an the atmosphere was good we had a very enjoyable stay. It is very close to Harry Potter studio tour which was great xx
The food could have been served throughout the day unfortunately we didn't eat there because food wasn't available from 2:30 - 6pm but it looked and smelled delicious x
The staff were all friendly but the owner was great made us feel comfortable and welcome, he was very helpful about the surrounding area and advised us were to visit. The inn was comfortable and cosy with that great old feel, beams in the rooms, roaring fire, home cooked food, and great location for Harry potter studios.
Location & character of hotel. Staff were really friendly.
No hot water & no breakfast.
My husband and I stayed on the 17th february with our older 2 girls. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful, we had our evening meal there after visiting the Harry Potter Studio's, the meal was excellent, we would recommend it to anyone.
Staff very welcoming
The shower was not good
Staff very helpful, lovely old pub with lots of character food in evening was good.
Carpet was quite dirty and bits of food/biscuites around base area of bed. The bed base was all dirty and threadbare. Cushion on the bed had stains and a big rip in it. The wardrobe doors wouldn't stay shut unless you pushed them into the wardrobe itself and wedged them shut. Didn't mind the cobwebs too much... Wouldn't stay again.
Very friendly staff, comfy bed and close to train station to be able to go into london - M+M World and china town.
Large open fire and sofa in bar, very warm, cosy, relaxing and welcoming. Good menu, good prices, great staff. Covered smoking area out back. Easy going check in and leave the key on desk when you leave. Friendly locals. Best feature - the wardrobe in our room was like a prop from The Leaky Cauldron!
No breakfast, didn't mind not having cooked or continental. But could have been a toaster, butter, marmite, jam, marmalade, peanut butter & nutella option for a quid or so extra. Just a self serve. We were in a rush in morning so didn't have time to go anywhere else in village.
The bed and the room was absolutely amazing! Fantastic for what we paid, and the food in the restaurant was exceptional.
its required that you leave the room at 10am however the pub was locked and we didn't have a key and there was no one working to help us. And also loud drunks from the neighbouring pubs in the middle of the night.
The landlord was very helpful and friendly
Toilets where dirty needs a good scrub
the room was fantastic, everything we wanted was there. Also staff made us very welcome
the only problem we had was the cleanliness. Due to dust everywhere, bedroom floor had several marks, toilet, sink didn't even look like it had been cleaned since the last guests.
We loved the style of the accommodation . Very quirky , cosy , comfortable and very welcoming . It was like home from home
The lay out of the building and the friendly staff.
I felt the room was cold
the inn had lots of character, the food was excellent, good value for money, shame there was no breakfast.
Room was not maintained properly, heating not working ,lamp not working light bulb gone in ceiling +,batteries in remote control, these should be check regular.
Location nice and food in the lodge was well prepared and nice atmosphere in the evening.
Rooms were not in the Kings Lodge but out of the lodge and around the corner. And into a dark alley to the back of Harrys Bar , security light not always coming on so very dark. Rooms were above a sports bar not the Kings Lodge as advertised. Roof had peeling paper and carpets dirty , light bulb not working in room.Toilet cold as no heating in them. Upon checkout Lodge was locked up and no sign as to what to do with keys. Luckily someone was arriving so they let me in to leave the keys. Poor service at end of stay.
Plumbing poor - no hot water to sink. Rooms dirty. 1st visit disturbed by noise from adjacent room in early hours. (Think this could have been owners talking loudly?) 2nd visit in annexe with downstairs bathroom - no heating - cold air from outside- freezing!
The hotel was well located near to our destination and great value for money. Staff were lovely and the food in the restaurant was great.
Only negative was the trainline being so near it was a bit noisy
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I great stop over location for the Harry Potter tour. 5 mins away. The drinks are cheap and the home cooked food is to die for and very generous portions. Can recommend the beef and ale pie.
It's just a shame they don't do breakfast. Other than that it's perfect
warm welcome Staff very helpful Nice restaurant Close to Harry Potter tour
No breakfast Wifi signal not good stairs a little steep
The bed was lovely and was clean
Old-fashioned pub in a beautiful building with excellent lodgings and lovely staff
Shame that the plumbing needs to use a pump which makes a lot of noise, as does the nearby train
we were emailed a reservation confirmation but called several times with no answer, turned up on the doorstep with nobody answering. On xmas day, thanks a lot. Awful.
The staff were friendly and kind. The room was nice and clean with good facilities such as clean towels, a choice of tea and coffee. It was also nice that there was a hairdryer available. Overall we had a pleasant stay.
The room was a bit cold but there were spare blankets in the room so it was not so cold when sleeping.
The friendliness of the welcome; the historical ambiance; the layout of the accommodation and the comfort.
Nothing - It suited our purposes excellently
Four poster bed
Cobwebs in bedroom
