The food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was cosy, clean and inviting. The building is old and has a lot of character.
good reception, interesting building incorporating old and new, very clean, excellent breakfast, close to town and to facilities, enjoyed Tuesday market, also not far to enjoy excellent scenery.
Clean room , furnished nicely. Good breakfast. Staff friendly
Smell of smoke from below courtyard.(room 6) No one around in morning at circ 7am, very dark stumbling around trying to find lights. WIFI doesn't work in all rooms.
Modern requirements wrapped up in a 16th century property - if sloping floors are too quirky maybe this isn't the place for you - personally I love such character.
Only downside for me was I had the twin room, so sleeping in a single bed
The room was comfortable, shower and facilities fine and food really good. Staff were friendly.
The noise from the street - room 3 was at the front and there was a lot of noise particularly in the early hours when the bar / disco closed. This kept us awake. The wifi was non-existent in this room. There wasn't a mirror that could be used for the hairdrier.
We spent one night at Kings Arm would have liked to stay longer, great room and great staff, very helpful, they helped us to organise a hire vehicle, everything was grwat
The generator or refrigeration unit was too noisy for light sleepers.
The food was also very good.
The hotel was very good, the room excellent and the situation was just as we wanted.
The breakfast was underwhelming and really needs improvement. It made us reappraise our opinion of the hotel, such a shame when otherwise it was so good.
The individually designed rooms and attention to detail. Generous tea and coffee and bottled water in the rooms.
It was old , quaint characterful and convenient. Recent tasteful refurbishment. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent with a varied menu. There was a good selection of beers and lagers. Reasonably priced. We would use it again.
Slight Road noise and clock chiming might disturb those used to quiet. No car park. Public car park across the road though was quite adequate.
rooms were nice a charecter hotel good food and live music
Beautiful and comfortable room with four poster bed. Large room with leather couch and TV. Food excellent, very professional.
The bedrooms were spacious and fitted out with everything you need. The décor was simple but it was all very nicely done The staff were accomodating
position & food excelent
rooms need a makeover
The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, the staff & room were great. We really enjoyed our stay & would stay again & recommend it to anyone else.
Lots of character and a nice breakfast. The hotel is very old and would be great to visit for a drink or meal. Location central Abergavenny suited us very well.
It was a very hot night and our room overlooked the courtyard of the hotel. We had to have our windows open but this meant listening to very noisy pub visitors talking loudly until closing time. After they left it was fine and the room - though small - was comfortable. Be prepared for very noisy plumbing!
friendly staff good breakfast, very clean, and central, shops and castle 5 min walk
bit noisy on a friday nght
Quite a quirky room good size very clean. It was very warm when we stayed so that was the only reason I put good for sleeping. Lovely breakfast and lovely staff. Great location
BRILLIANT ROOM. COMFY BED. HISTORIC ATMOSPHERE. BEST SMOKED SALMON AND SCRAMBLED EGGS EVER FOR BREAKFAST.
Food very good -above average for pub food tasteful decor good staff
wi fi a bit erratic
The location was great, the room lovely and bar and restaurant very well restored.
I was disappointed with the bar service, both from the fact that staff were not available and did not seen to know what they were doing. Generally the cleanliness was good, however there were dirty wet towels left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. On checkout the staff were disinterested and tried to overcharge which was a shame as overall the experience could have been much better.
It is in a good location, although it has no parking and the only alternative when we were there was a paid parking lot. The breakfast was not large but was very nice. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
This hotel is overpriced - the room was nice, although very hot and not any nicer than other places we stayed on the same trip for 15 pound less per night. There is really no comfortable space to sit and have a quiet drink - most spaces are set up as meal areas.
Staff were fab. Very efficient and friendly
We stayed in the Deluxe Room in the Attic, we really liked the luxury bath and countryside feel to the room . We also liked the building in it's old fashioned style. The breakfast was just enough although it may be too small for people with large appetites. Lovely atmosphere around the pub area. Staff were professional and friendly.
No aircon, particularly as we were in the Attic with only one tiny window to provide some airflow. Also no Wifi available in the room although stated that there is all round Wifi, but apart from these, we cannot fault anything else.
