The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, the staff & room were great. We really enjoyed our stay & would stay again & recommend it to anyone else.
friendly staff good breakfast, very clean, and central, shops and castle 5 min walk
bit noisy on a friday nght
Quite a quirky room good size very clean. It was very warm when we stayed so that was the only reason I put good for sleeping. Lovely breakfast and lovely staff. Great location
BRILLIANT ROOM. COMFY BED. HISTORIC ATMOSPHERE. BEST SMOKED SALMON AND SCRAMBLED EGGS EVER FOR BREAKFAST.
Food very good -above average for pub food tasteful decor good staff
wi fi a bit erratic
The location was great, the room lovely and bar and restaurant very well restored.
I was disappointed with the bar service, both from the fact that staff were not available and did not seen to know what they were doing. Generally the cleanliness was good, however there were dirty wet towels left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. On checkout the staff were disinterested and tried to overcharge which was a shame as overall the experience could have been much better.
It is in a good location, although it has no parking and the only alternative when we were there was a paid parking lot. The breakfast was not large but was very nice. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
This hotel is overpriced - the room was nice, although very hot and not any nicer than other places we stayed on the same trip for 15 pound less per night. There is really no comfortable space to sit and have a quiet drink - most spaces are set up as meal areas.
Staff were fab. Very efficient and friendly
We stayed in the Deluxe Room in the Attic, we really liked the luxury bath and countryside feel to the room . We also liked the building in it's old fashioned style. The breakfast was just enough although it may be too small for people with large appetites. Lovely atmosphere around the pub area. Staff were professional and friendly.
No aircon, particularly as we were in the Attic with only one tiny window to provide some airflow. Also no Wifi available in the room although stated that there is all round Wifi, but apart from these, we cannot fault anything else.
The staff were all great. The fact that when we asked to move rooms (the first was in the eaves and you had to bend double most of the time) it was no bother and they did the move for us. The food was very good.
The noise, late night revellers in the courtyard below. rooms with noisy macerators that could be heard late at night. breakfast on the first two mornings seemed to take forever, the third morning it came in no time.
Beautiful, old style rooms with modern amenities. Staff (AJ) was extremely helpful and went out of his say countless times to answer questions and help us out. Great location, bar and restaurant.
Friendly staff, lovely room.
This is the hotel that you hope to find at the end of a journey. The location is good for exploring the town and with ample and inexpensive parking nearby.
Access to the attic bedrooms is just too steep
My sister and I loved the character of the old building which still had everything we needed. The service was second to none, especially Charlotte who was wonderful no matter what we requested. Food at dinner and breakfast both very good.
Staff very friendly, location excellent , very clean
Bed a bit soft for my tastes
Lovely building friendly staff
Room was a bit small, windows do not keep noise out
We were upgraded to a superior room after giving feedback on issues. It was clear that these were going to be taken on board and rectified.
We were first given a room in the attic with inadequate head-room and lights that did not have lamp-shades. These issues were quickly corrected.
A lovely mix of 16th Century character with practical, modern fittings. The breakfast was excellent and the welcome on arrival was extremely warm and friendly.
Very competent, friendly staff. Nice pub downstairs. Excellent breakfast, with quality ingredients.
Very small single room, rather highly priced for what it offered. Wifi only accessible in the pub and restaurant.
Comfortable and friendly with a good restaurant with excellent and reasonably prices.
the staff. they were so friendly. the room was so nice and cosy. excellent dinner
Arrived late and staff were very helpful and welcoming. Very quaint building but well converted and well insulated from outside noise.
Hard to see who is in charge. Breakfast was shambolic (but OK) as staff did not show until after the advertised, and pre ordered, time. Shower in room 5 did not work.Card machine clearly had not worked for ages - who pays cash for hotels?
the staff , credit to the place . nice breakfast and good bar
no car park if being picky
