“ We liked the age of the building, the food was really good, the staff we thought were the greatest asset and having the owner working in the hotel set the standard. My wife and I are very late 70s- 80s,every one on the staff made sure we could manage.our four days were perfect. The bedrooms are a good size and comfortable. ”

This charming 500-year-old building is a former coaching inn, and once provided lodgings for King Charles I in 1645. The Chop House Restaurant retains original oak flooring and medieval windows. In keeping with an old racing tradition, all rooms at The Kings Arms Hotel are named after cup-winning horses. Most are in the main building, and there are 3 cottage rooms located to the rear of the hotel. There is free Wi-Fi available throughout the building, and limited space for free private parking on site. A full English breakfast is served in the morning, and guests can relax beside an open fire in the bar area. The Kings Arms is situated on the edge of Stow-on-the-Wold’s historic market square, which dates back to 1107. Cheltenham, famous for its racecourse, is a 30-minute drive away. Inn: 10 rooms The most recent booking for this hotel was made on 24 May at 02:43 from China.

Extremely good value. Room was spotlessly clean with crisp sheets, wooden flooring and an en-suite despite being an 'attic' room at the top of the Hotel approached by very steep steps. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar area and the haddock and chips was plentiful and nicely presented but maybe a weeeee bit over priced but still a very good meal. The breakfast was scrummy and plentiful :o) We paid £50 for the night for the two of us with breakfast included and this was well worth the money for both the standard of accommodation and the breakfast and friendly staff. The bathroom to Room8 needs some tlc to the paintwork, the door handle - very loose and unsightly and the sink unit was slightly close to the wc for convenience but as this was an 'attic' room the fact it had en-suite facilities with a bath and shower attachment was a real bonus. The banging of fire doors as they shut was slightly annoying during the night.

Location was excellent, staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was very good and well priced. On site parking was a big plus. Rooms were clean and well equipped. The rooms we had were in the attic and accessed by a very steep set of stairs that were not mentioned on the website. This made access very difficult for the older members of our party. The cottage rooms we saw were in need of refurbishment.

Breakfast was cooked to order, our bedroom was warm and the bed was comfortable and the decor contemporary. It's shabby and not very clean. The Reception area is cramped and unwelcoming. The Kitchen is next to the Reception area and main staircase to the bedrooms and Chop House restaurant and it stinks of fried food. You can't run a tab in the bar. £120 for a night is far too expensive. It's location is good but it doesn't make up for the place needing a complete overhaul. Very disappointing. Don't go.

Lovely facility, great location, good staff. Very drafty and cold in the room - but what would you expect from a 500 year old building?

Great location. Inn with lots of character as was the room. Good breakfast. Apart from fresh towels our room was not serviced during our 2 night stay. Depite problems accessing car park, due to snow/ice, no attempt was made by the hotel to clear it and this meant we had to park on the street with parking restrictions.

We stayed over the new year and the location is lovely. Easy access to all the villages in the Cotswolds. The staff work very hard and are also attentive. We booked a meal in the restaurant for New Year's eve. We were very disappointed with the quality. The starter had very little cheese and far too much garlic.. My husband had to send his main course back, the whole meal was just warm and the green beans were raw. His meal was refunded. My meal was ok but only just warm. Just a shame when we were looking forward to it so much . For the pricing it was very poor quality.

The location at Stow On the Wold allows a great location from which to explore this outstanding part of the country where old fashioned manners still seem to exist. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and well prepared. The bedroom was quite nice and warm. Was somewhat disappointed and a little deflated if we`re honest. We travel to the Cotswolds every Christmas and have rented cottages historically and every year they have been great. The hotel was ok all round but the set up had a "make do" feeling to it. Staff were polite and friendly but seemed to be on edge at times, not surprising when they are given advice by their (presumed) manager on how to conduct themselves in earshot of residents settling down for a quiet drink in the bar. Didn`t warm to that! The reception area did not have a welcoming feel and was most probably due to its location and general set up.

The food. Very disorganised, breakfast starts at 8 am, I asked if they could leave a bowl of cereal for me as I was leaving a 7.30, they said fine, but never did. No reception in morning, price of room to high for standard offered £80.

within budget in the area we wanted to stay. lovely breakfast (and waitress).top quality sheets weird scenario in the bar where we wanted to eat in the evening, twice we were asked to move table but then told we need not (?), by a very smiley lady who seemed to be rather stressed and hyper. no idea what that was all about.

Our room was lovely, exactly the same one as the one we had booked on line, l was worried they may have put us in a different room to the one we had booked. Really nice room and the bed was fantastic, very comfortable with lots of pillows and crisp white sheets. Lovely view from our window, overlooking the village square and village church the church bells chimed every 15,mins, so you really felt in a different world and had escaped the fast pace of London life which is just what we wanted for our romantic weekend away. Upon arrival we were kept waiting for at least 20,mins as there was no one on reception to check us in, they were very busy, however there's no excuse, first impressions count for so much and we were not impressed to be kept waiting, however they did apologise. The shower room although clean had a very strange damp smell, they need to air it or at least put an air freshener in there. Breakfast was nice but tight on portion size plus we only got one cup of tea and no offer of another one. I left my phone charger behind l phoned as soon as l realised and they offered to post it for me, l said l was willing to pay the postage, they said they would phone and let me know how much it would cost, however, no phone call came which is a shame as we had enjoyed our stay and l felt let down by that.
