A lot of noise coming from the road
The location and ambience of the Kings head - beautiful village just outside Winchester .
Overpriced but understand it is peak season in this area - food somewhat disappointing ..
The staff were very friendly and helpful, going the extra mile. Room was very comfortable and had character.
Convenient with a large car park, a public bar and good restaurant, ideal for an overnight stay
nothing to dislike
Worst internet ever Very poor mobile phone reception
Good room, lovely bathroom, clean. Food very good. Staff occasionally difficult to find away from busy times but polite and friendly when found. Room staff very friendly. Geographically well positioned for Winchester and South Coast. Overall a good stay.
It was warm weather admittedly but the room was airless, needed at least a fan. With the window open the traffic noise was, to quote my wife, 'torture'. The promised WiFi was hopeless unless, for some odd reason, you were sitting on the loo!
Beer garden Staff were amazing. V genuine.
Cars going past as v close to the road
Lovely Hotel Room with History. Nice bar and eating spaces. Excellent service from girl from Zimbabwe. We preferred to have dinner in downstairs bar rather than the restaurant. We would come back as good place easy parking and view to old church very pleasant.
Building work with tradies working below outside our room - We not prudes but constant use of F word in conversation a bit shabby. Good idea to get tradies on board with ambiance of pub. Next morning had to move car (when just served brekkie) to help tradies. Apologies from owner for this but hey !!!
Everything, our stay was excellent!
Good location Breakfast was ok
Bed not changed/made when taken to room and in the rush to amend the problem only left one towel in the bathroom. Room and bathroom on different floors albeit in the same "suite"
Room was very comfortable and quiet. Food was excellent and very reasonable. Was not too keen on the beers available - too hoppy for my taste, probably very good for real ale fans. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable stay, with an excellent dinner.
The beer, too hoppy for my taste, even the light summer ale.
Lovely, friendly staff. Great breakfast. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely surroundings
Nothing to complain about
Friendly staff Nice location
Dusty bedroom and cobwebby windows Fire alarm going off at 7am on a Sunday cos of overcooking breakfast Accommodation prices reasonable but food and wine very expensive. Meals quite small and no vegetables! Yealands Sauvignon Blanc £9.99 in co-op; £27.50 here!
Food, lovely large room
Was given a room roadside so could hear the traffic
Poor restaurant service. Starter delivered with main course. Rude French waiter. Irish coffee was all white! I was refused a drink from the bar at 1110 pm, as last orders was called at 1100, despite pointing out I was a resident. I later found a notice in my room stating last orders 1130. The manager was not available on Friday night at 1110 or the following morning. She said she would call me, but never did! Staff require training. A bad experience. Give this place a wide berth.
the staff were absolutely charming and helpful excellent evening meal wouldn't stay anywhere else if we are in the area again
The breakfast was very good.
The utter incompetence of the person who checked us in. Long story short: we checked in at about 6pm, but we did not get the suite we booked because it had been given to another, existing guest who wanted to stay longer and bring his family. We got his room, but the problem was all his clothes, toiletries and other property was still in the room. After it was cleared we were assured the other guest did not still have a key. He did, and let himself in as my partner was coming out of the shower - she was not impressed! The same staff member who checked us in - I believe his name was Claudio - lied when we asked why we didn't have the accommodation we had booked - he said the booking made no reference to a particular room - just as he had lied about the other guest not having a key to our room. He continued to bluster and bluff instead of being open and explaining what had happened. It was sheer incompetence. We were told the hotel had recently changed ownership and that some staff had left, others were new, Claudio was really a restaurant manager not a hotel manager, and that things hadn't 'settled down' after all the changes. We suggest giving The King's Head a miss until the new owners/management have got their act together. I did not pay for the accommodation, but was happy to pay for my food and drinks at dinner, which were perfectly acceptable.
Dinner was exceptional
The food was excellent in the evening ,wide variety ,very well presented and scrumptious puds. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable .Loved the roll top bath. The young staff were friendly ,helpful and articulate ,very welcoming.A lovely warm relaxing few days !
Good breakfasts ,but I would have liked more fruit in bowls.
Surroundings décor, location
Staff were very unprofessional and stressed when we arrived on Sunday evening (30th) The owners stress relayed to us as customers and to see everyone running9literally0 did not have a relaxed effect on us as guests. It calmed down when he left.
Booked through Booking.com but when it came to check out the hotel tried to charge £95.00 for the room instead of £75.00, but once it had been explained it was fine and only £75.00 was paid.
Really friendly and helpful.
Strength of the wifi signal.
Nicely cooked breakfasts Staff efficient and helpful Adequate car park
Music (Noise) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. This could have been greatly reduced if the doors between the noise source and the staircase had remained closed. The single room (Cody) had no storage facility for clothes or other belongings. One had to live out of a suitcase
