Character and quality of the Hotel Secure parking location
We only stayed one night but found the accommodation very comfortable. All the staff from the reception on initial contact when we arrived, waiters/waitresses were all very nice, polite And attentive to us.
There really was nothing we could find any fault with or criticise although being an ancient building the staircase can be a bit of a problem
Good central location with a decent sized car park. Comfortable bar areas. Very nice staff. Excellent food in the restaurant at very reasonable prices.
My room was at the top of the building up an exceptionally steep flight of stairs. Difficult when carrying bags but you are warned of this beforehand I just hadn't expected them to be so steep. The upside was however that there was no noise from the bar. The view from the room was about four feet to the windows of the adjacent property. Bit on the pricey side for the facilities but it is a prime location.
The Hotel has a lot of history and is right in the heart of Ross on Wye. Quite a cosy feel and the food was good and well cooked. An enjoyable stay.
On our night there was a table who ordered just before us and as a result we had a long wait for our evening meal. The food was worth waiting for, as was the cooked breakfast.
Nothing was to much trouble.
Not staying long in enough.
New bathroom was brilliant. Location great Hotel car park Great breakfast Friendly staff No hidden extra charges
Great meal in the restaurant. Nice location near the river.
On a main road so quite noisy in room at front of hotel from people in the street and passing traffic
Good location, breakfast very good room very cormfortable and clean
Instructions how to get there not very clear. Pound palace couldn't be seen, went round the one way system twice before we saw the hotel
Very friendly staff. Great food. Great hotel apart from the lack of air conditioning.
Unfortunately there is no air conditioning, although the room had an electric fan. This meant that when we stayed, during the hottest nights of the summer so far, the heat throughout the night was absolutely insufferable even with the fan going and the sash window as open as possible. We were in room 18, my daughter in 14. We all had the same problem.
The room was comfortable and well equipped but it was very hot and air conditioning would have been very helpful. Position in centre of town was an asset.
A minor problem really, but the hotel is a well established hotel and floor boards creaked a lot and you could hear people walking about in other rooms.
Ensure shower room Restaurant
Staff were very friendly and helpful seeing as we were there for a wedding and needed to check in early.
Breakfast was a slow service and the rooms were far too hot even with the windows open it was boiling on the top floor. We had 3 rooms booked there for guests of thr wedding and we all said the same.
Spacious room Lovely breakfast Nice toiletries in room
Room was hot, but I was at the top of an old building. Not a lot of parking space.
Our room at the back was lovely and quiet.
As residents we were hoping to have a few more drinks at the bar, although there was two groups of us, amounting to 14 people, the bar person refused to stay open after 11.30pm.
The food was excellent and the staff were helpful without going over the top.
We went when temperatures were high and the rooms were very hot even with a fan being provided. The property would benefit greatly from air conditioning.
Location The manager was very helpful when an emergency arose. He went out of his way to make sure we could get back in even when the staff were off duty.
The stairs were rather steep, reminiscent of some of the old hotels in Amsterdam that we have stayed at when we were younger - a bit daunting when you're not as agile as we used to be.
Really lovely little hotel with graet food and beer. Staff were excellent
Excellent breakfast & evening meal. Bright modern dining room has retained it's historic touches.
The stairs are a little awkward but it's an old building.
Close to everything. Lovely evening meal. Pleasant atmosphere.clean bathroom. Water a bonus.
Room very small and claustraphobic. Had difficulty opening windows. Lively view of a brick wall. Very dark and dusty.
Staff were friendly and helpful, good food in restaurant and beer in bar
Room 18 missing from direction signs upstairs.
Great location, quirky, family run boutique hotel. Very comfortable, clean accommodation with friendly restaurant serving wholesome food with good portion sizes.
Street noise on Saturday night.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Centrally situated to access all of the town easily (which was wonderful as we arrived on the day of the May Fayre). Restaurant was very good, but need to book to avoid disappointment. Breakfast also very nice. Would definitely book again :)
Charming, centrally located, easy parking, old world hotel. Spacious room (16) on top floor (final staircase a little steep), complete with interesting sloping floor and exposed wood beam features. Very helpful staff, clean and well equipped room, great choice on breakfast menu. Didn't eat here in evening (fancied a curry), but good choice on restaurant/bar menu.
Food excellent and staff were polite and attentive. Location for shops was good but hotel parking and access cramped although reasonably secure. Good location for walking visits to River Wye area
Rooms were reasonably comfortable but lighting poor. Lamps in bathroom missing and cold water to hand basin only a trickle. Privacy suspect as overlooks and is overlooked by windows opposite in busy one way High Street which has a lot of traffic noise. Stairs difficult and would be a no go area for less agile quests
Very friendly staff who were keen to help. Comfortable bed and practical room. Quite an old world feel to the hotel - quaint. The food was very good but a decent bar and a nice lounge. Would stay again.
There was a rather distressing individual in the bar.
