Wasn't told that we would have to book a table to use the resturant and when we went into the resturant was directed to another hotel. Room (no.18) was very small and the floor boards creaked incessantly. The stair case to the second floor was difficult to negotiate and not recommended for anyone with mobility problems. Would not stay at this hotel again.

The man on the desk when we arrived did not smile, Miserable in fact and someone else said the same thing. The room was very dirty the dado rails round the room where a quarter of an inch thick in dust and I do not exaggerate. The manager's answer was, 'well you do get dust in that room'. I said they cannot have washed down in months if not well over a year. The bathroom floor was filthy and the 'white' shower curtain had turned black and orange from bacteria that had been allowed to grow, it turned our inside. Traffic noise was horrendous it kept us awake all night. I said this noise business did not get a mention on the internet when I booked it. The manager did move us to another room at the back of the hotel which was much nicer and quieter. But the manager still never smiled. For £80 a night we expected much better. For £20 extra you can have a 4* hotel in London and a clean one at that.

A traditional unspoilt British "Coaching Inn" Hotel. Clean well appointed bedroom. Excellent breakfast. The stairs are steep and narrow.

It was located centrally in the town. Hotel Manager/staff made us feel most welcome during our stay, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel itself is very old, was lovely to see picture etc as it would have been. Room was very comfortable and the food was excellent. Cannot fault it.

Comfortable beds. Excellent food. Cheerful staff - most of the time. Good position in town. Sense of history. Opening bedroom door was tricky. (Lock too near door jamb and handle loose). (Room 6.)

the hotel is right in the hub of Ross on Wye, surrounded by shops selling local wears, restaurants & lots of historic buildings. The river Wye and it's beautiful surroundings is a short walk away too. The hotel is in a wonderfully historic building, tastefully & luxuriously decorated. Our room was up two flights of stairs, the second of which were curved and gorgeously wonky. Our room was spacious and had lovely traditional wooden beams to the ceiling. It was beautifully appointed with a lovely large Iron framed bed, dressing table & tea/coffee station. A doorway takes you through a small inner hallway to the bathroom & a second room containing a further two single beds and a large double wardrobe. My partner is 6ft 6'' and found using the shower in the room quite difficult.

During our short stay we found the Hotel to have helpful, friendly staff, and the room was very comfortable with everything we needed. The only negative was the stairs, but it is something they can do nothing about. Having said that it was not that many stairs to climb.

The hotel was in an excellent location and had free parking to the rear which was ideal. The staff were very helpful and polite and made our stay enjoyable. The food was very expensive and the room was freezing!

Check in was speedy and helpful, room (16) spacious. Food in restaurant over priced for what was fairly average food. Room was very noisy felt that the people next door were in the same room as you could hear every sound.
