Location, location, location.
Only one key, there should be one each. I kept having to ask to be let into our room as my wife was wandering about Richmond with teh key.
We were given a warm welcome by Simon when we arrived at the hotel. All the staff were delightful throughout our stay and went over and above to make our stay a good one. We will definitely return.
STAFF WERE MOST HELPFULL AND POLITE AND THE ROOMS WERE A GOOD SIZE
DECORE COULD DO WITH UPDATING
great room and comfortable bed great location in centre of town excellent bar staff
- Very poor shower - didn't reach the bath area. - Broken toilet seat - Council cleaning street outside from about 5 am - impossible to sleep due to generator noise - hotel front counter staff indifferent to the problem "not our fault!"
Everything, the efficiency, the ambiance, the room, we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne for my birthday. Friendliness of the staff. We had such a special time.
Staff and location
getting on in years (67) stairs a bit of a bind.
By some error we were given the keys to an unmade room, which was immediately rectified when we told the receptionist. She could not have done more to appease us. This was a very professional approach.
The wedding seemed to take priority over other guests, maybe more staff would have been the answer.
I did not get any sleep due to my bedroom being the 'fire escape'. There was a 'fob' entry system to the room. On the inside was a touch pad to leave the room, this had a flashing red light on all night that kept me awake. In the morning I complained but still had to pay for the room
The staff are particularly helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.room 17 a small single, but very comfy. Lots of comfy chairs and couches in lounge and bar. Good wi fi
Room 17 lots of street noise till 3.45 am. Not the hotels fault,I know, but I didn't expect Richmond to be so lively! Mix up over afternoon tea,was booked 2 people for 3pm instead of 3 for 2, this was soon sorted though, and was worth waiting for
Nice room with view of castle. Lovely breakfast.
Bathroom a bit tired, and breakfast room needed heating up a bit.
The location, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast were all very good. Room and bathroom very large and comfortable.
Being wakened at 6-30 am by the street cleaner and all the movement in the market place of people off to work. This could be because work was being done in the market place, when we were there.
overall the stay was good parking not ideal
reception was not always staffed waiting after a long journey is not acceptable.had to hunt around for staff. The room was on a corner of a busy square and tended to get noisy at night I accept that this is not the fault of the staff and can not be avoided.for the same money other similar places included breakfast without extra charge
A good location in a traditional Yorkshire market town. Take the cars of the market square and you could stage a period drama with very little alteration. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the castle and some delightful views across the hills and valleys. Very comfortable bed with no noticeable noise from other rooms, TVs etc. Several restaurants & pubs close by
Room was very small for a double, with insufficient space for bed side tables. The en-suite bathroom floor had loose tiles, even though the fittings appear to have been updated during the past couple of years. Breakfast was expensive (£10.50) and in a not particularly inspiring room. The reception was just a desk tucked into one corner of the ground floor - no security if you left your key there while the receptionist was away from the desk.
The bedroom was beautifully decorated in a modern style but still in keeping with character of building. Bed was huge and the comfiest hotel bed I've slept in for a long time.
Lack of customers in bar and dining room in evening. Suppose it's because of location right in heart of town.
The position - it was easy to access restaurants, pubs, shops, walks etc. Our room was a superior room, facing the square. It was a lovely large room with a large with comfortable bed.
The reception area - it would be much better with a proper counter across the adjacent wall. All it had was a large desk for one member of staff. Visitors had to wait around for their turn, there was no privacy.
Location is the hotels main attraction Breakfast was good but had to wait on both days we were there
Noisy from outside they set up the market early on a Saturday morning and with a nightclub nearby revellers were an issue poorly trained trained staff long waiting times at bar and breakfast. There is no residents quiet lounge only a bar
Staff welcoming on arrival - good parking facilities. Spacious and clean bedroom. Good food. Nice way to spend a short break.
Preferred to old reception desk - more welcoming. This new version is cramped and stuck in a corner - must be difficult if 2 or more staff on duty.
Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food very well presented. Good comfortable atmosphere.
location, comfy bed
old fashioned,smells a bit musty
Did not sleep at all, the noise of people outside until about 1:30am and the horrendous noise of the windows rattling all night because it was windy made it impossible to sleep. Was told in the morning when checking out that many others had also complained.
Comfortable room and good food in the restaurant. Central location but quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff. Chelsea went out of her way to make me as comfortable as possible after my very recent back injury. Even carried a heavy suitcase up to the top floor.
Excellent management team leading by example - The natural friendliness of all staff - Superb daily menu - Excellent Resident Chef ensures both presentation and quality of food, which we enjoyed immensely, as we preferred to eat in rather than our usual tour of other restaurants nearby ! A most restful and interesting four day break = to be repeated soon. Free and safe car parking within hotel grounds an added bonus and comfort = Full marks all round, well earned and rightly awarded for perfect service.
The stairs !
Location and car park
Poor checking -in facilities: inattention. Room door very hard to open/shut. Poor service from young man when I tried to book a table for restaurant in evening
Location, staff were very polite and helpful.
Beds really uncomfortable. Rooms felt tired and needed an uplift.
I liked the location and the hotel. Clean and staff excellent Lovely room well worth the extra money. Would come again.
The lories delivering next door was a bit of a problem especially about 4 in the morning. Ok if yoiu wanted a fresh loaf of bread. The salad with the sandwich was a bit naff hence apart from breakfast we ate outside and when you consider all eateries in the town were banged out perhaps this is an area you should look at.Shower not to hot but bath had plenty of hot water.
