The location is excellent - right on the Market Square - and it was very helpful having free parking at the hotel. The hotel is a good central base for exploring the Richmond area, and the period decor is beautiful. The bed was singularly uncomfortable, the rooms lack double-glazing so all the noise from the Square is very audible, we've experienced better shower water pressure standing under a gutter, and the breakfast was particularly disappointing and overpriced - £8 per person, and that's whether you have a cooked breakfast (with only 1 egg and 1 rasher of bacon) or just a bowl of cornflakes. In addition, the morning cleaning staff filled the corridor with the noise of their conversation, which I found very unprofessional.

Very cosy room, and old style wooden furnishings were awesome. Lounge with a fireplace is a perfect place to have a drink and a chat.

Bed was comfortable and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location was excellent and town itself was lovely. Room decoration was shabby, paper hanging off the walls. Shower didnt even flow into the bath, just over the taps. Toilet only flushed after 3 times of trying.

Our room was filthy. The bathroom had no toilet paper, still had damp towels in it and open toiletry bottles lying around. The bedroom obviously had not been cleaned. The floor had not been vacuumed, and there was a thick layer of dust on several items of furniture. There was also a substantial deposit of sand lying behind a curtain.

All the Hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and polite, and the housekeepers kept the Hotel very clean, in all areas. Also, the food was very enjoyable !! The Hotel was in a superb position, just across the road to the Harbour, Restuarants and shops. It was a real pleasurable experience staying there, and would certainly recommend anyone to try this excellent Hotel !! Many thanks Mike .... look forward to returning soon !!!

The location is good ,the staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel has charecter. The condition of the room was not good enough, the plumbing dated , you could hear between the rooms. There was noise all night from the street. There is no lift.It needs refubishing you would get a better deal at a bed and breakfast, overpriced for what it is offering.

Very good location in the centre of the town. Handy for buses and local attractions. My room was a good size, well maintained and clean. The hotel served one of the best breakfasts I have had at any hotel.

There is a place to sit outside if weather is good to watch goings on in Richmond . Staff were friendly and helpful It was fairly old fashioned so rooms weren't quite as luxurious as I expected. When we first arrived the curtain on the window had come off the hooks and that wasn't fixed for 2 days (didn't report it but thoufght it should have been picked up). Minor complaints though don't be put off too much and it is an old hotel
