Decor, character of the property, the staff were friendly car-parking (lack of), one or two missed dusty surfaces (ex-military, I spot these things).

Bed comfortable Nice clean room Staff friendly Shower wouldn't work properly, couldn't get temperature balance, but managed! Son's shower in his room was just a dribble of water, but again he managed. Because we were on a room facing the square there were lots of noisy party revellers between the hours of midnight and 3a.m. around the taxi rank so couldn't get to sleep so would definitely prefer a room at the back of the building next time.

The Hotel has very friendly, helpful staff and is in a great location. The water pressure in our room was not very good which made the shower very feeble. The hotel was having some refurbishment done but again this was only a minor inconvenience.

Central location Well appointed Clean Room size Breakfast The water was only Luke warm, not enough pressure for a shower, and the bathroom tiles were loose, toilet moved when you sat on it which was a safety issue if you were elderly (room 3)

It was at least 20 years since I was last at the Kings Head. The hotel has retained all it's elegance and charm yet has the mod cons you should expect. The staff were really helpful and friendly. This is a fabulously comfortable place to stay just off the a1 at Scotch Corner if you are travelling North to Scotland or South from there. Good value for money and right in the centre of town. The bathroom was cold! And the water pressure on the second floor wasn't great for the shower. But I had a lovely bath and managed even to wash my long hair. There isn't a lift so be warned if you can't manage stairs. But hey - for the money and the nostalgia it was fine as a stopover.

We booked a superior room and the bed was fantastically enormous. Room size was good light and airy with double windows. There were no lifts, although we were on the 3rd floor. It didnt bother us as we are fit, but it might be importants to others! We had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the square, the bad news was late night revellers being noisy until 3am on the Saturday morning. Made worse apparently as the taxi rank is stationed in the square, so had a restless and bad nights sleep!

Almost all staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable spacious room. Food was very good, both breakfast and dinner. Central location. Superior room overlooked the picturesque market square. However each morning at 5.30 a delivery for the adjacent supermarket arrived with reversing klaxon, noisy trolleys and from then on sleep was impossible. Unfortunately the response from the receptionist was, 'You just have to put up with it. It's a superior room because of the view!' I appreciate that, but not from 5.30. They should inform people of that. It's a shame about these two point because otherwise it was fine. My recommendation to other travellers must take this into account if they are booking.

Staff very helpful Although we had superior room it was very cold despite staff bring in extra heaters and the tv had to be replaced and the bathroom cabinet light did not work. It was a little shabby chic and does need some investment.
