I had a bad first impression of the hotel, and I was actually fantasizing about the moment I would be writing this review on booking.com on the first night. The pictures are deceiving, but then, you get what you pay for, and I am not going to complain about this. What I WIILL complain about is when you don't get what you paid for or what you were promised you would get. The pictures promised a nice, shiny room, and the facilities promised Free WiFi.
When I arrived, I was put in a room in the BASEMENT, even though I had made my reservation almost 2 months in advance, and I am sure that the basement room was not the only one available then. I cannot live in a basement, and nobody stated the possibility of being assigned a room in the basement. I was furious and I asked to be moved. And I was moved right away to a nice room on the first floor. The other thing that was not working (at ALL) was the WiFi. I was given the central WiFi of the hotel, the "Kingston Hotel" labeled WiFi. And it was not working. It wouldn't even load my mails, it was getting cut all the time, impossible.
Next day I was given another WiFi (one with the modem closer to my room) that worked perfectly well. But, I had to ASK for these things, even though I was supposed to have them anyhow, having paid for them and all. And I want to receive what I pay for, nothing less, nothing more, without having to ask about it. If someone's not giving you what you paid for, you might as well think they take you for a fool.
The staff was excellent and very helpful. They changed my room upon my request, they gave me a new WiFi code, they checked on me to see if I was ok, I left them my luggage on the last day and they kept it safe, they called a taxi for me when I had to rush. They even found my bracelet that I had lost in the room and gave it to me when I was leaving. Big thank you. What I also liked was that the room was very warm! The heating was excellent! The bed was nice, the desk was very helpful for me, because I had to work.
