The owner/manager is lovely and couldn't be more welcoming. We didn't eat there but the breakfast looked good
The twin rooms in the attic are not good value for the money. Just as well we are both short. Backpacker standard in comparison to a room at the Crescent down the road
House had lots of Victorian features. Breakfast served without waiting, plenty of choice and hot! Staff were friendly and efficient. Comfy sitting room. Slight traffic noise at night.
Top of steep hill, a bit out of the town.
The owner is a warm and friendly person, and was very helpful during my stay. The room was comfortable, clean and had towels, etc replaced daily. Separate lovely guest Lounge and small garden. The breakfast, though quite small was included. Reasonable rate. I would definitely stay here again.
A little out of the centre, at the top of a big hill.
We have many choice in the breakfast.
- Staff was very friendly, mindful and helpful - beautiful room
Il gestore è veramente amichevole gentile e professionale. Le camere sono comode, sempre pulite e accoglienti. The landlord Mr Barry is really friendly and welcoming, and runs the premise in a very professional way. Rooms are confortable and Always clean.
Cleanliness, comfortable beds, free WiFi, lovely host, great breakfast, great Italian restaurant just a few blocks down the street
If it happens to be hot, there is no A/C and if you open the windows (we had a street corner room) there's outside noise. I don't understand why the small guest houses (15 rooms or less) don't at least have ceiing fans in the rooms?
good spacious room and shower good breakfast
long steep hill to the guest house
Breakfast was very good. Bed comfortable.very near new council offices for weddings etc:
Location in relation to the town centre
Friendliness and helpfullness.
Good place for easy access to Cardiff by public transport and the M6. Friendly Staff and a good breakfast. Enjoyed meeting Barry
The walk from town centre up Stow Hill. Although we parked easily it could be a problem
We were greeted quickly and shown immediatiately to our room. Very organised and efficient service throughout our stay. Had a good undies turned nights sleep. Very convenient location for train to Millenium Stadium.
Our room was at the top of the house and although we knew the beams were low in the sloping roof I still managed to bang my head several times! Not suitable for a very tall person to be in this particular room.
Welcoming and excellent service
Extremely kind owner, very nice, ancient Victorian house with a great salon downstairs.
Lovely old Victorian building
Not the hotels fault but traffic noise from the main road outside. Will be more choosy in future
Breakfast was excellent value for money. Looked after very well by Helena
Rooms could have been cleaner
The noice at night through windows.
it was cheap and served a purpose
the room as ws quite cramped and sink was on otherside of room from bathroom - had to keep squeezing past to use it; most of all I was really unhappy that having asked for a quiet room I was on a very busy road and did not sleep very much as a consequence
Great staff with knowledge of the local area. Very willing to help to any way they can. Many thanks.
* The WiFi signal was weak leading to delays in sending and receiving work as well as looking for information.
I booked in Newport so I could get the train easy into Cardiff for the rugby. Location great as very convenient. Nice homely B&B, not up market but comfortable and friendly
Has to be the friendliest welcome we've ever had at a guest house/hotel! Lovely, comfortable room, great night's sleep and close to a fab bar that served great food!
Staff very good, good size of room
Room next to two main roads and thin curtains, compromising quality of sleep.
The proprietor, Barry, was a welcoming and charming gentleman who obviously takes pride in the service he provides. The beds were very comfortable and bedding/linen spotless and fresh. Breakfast was steaming hot, good quality and very tasty, well worth the extra few pounds.
The decor is a little dated but still charming. If we were staying for more than one night we'd have liked larger than a 12" TV in the room. Don't be fooled by the 0.6 of a mile from the train station, the hill is a challenging walk with baggage. Taxi was cheap though.
Staff was helpful. Breakfast was good.
Windows don't open fully and the afternoon sun made the room too hot.
