Great location Good food Great value
Parking is not easy to access with a car, but still free and close to hotel
The noise was unbearable worst night sleep ever
The bathroom had black mould in the shower which also dripped We were in a room at the front of the hotel and the noise to the late hours kept us awake. I pointed this out (both) to staff but here was no concern or reaction. They said they would note it.
Good location for shops etc. Room was clean. Most of staff friendly, a couple though didn't seem interested in their jobs.
Breakfast not really hot enough and cold plates. Noise from extraction pipes throughout the night.
breakfast not hot enough
The staff were super friendly and very helpful, the food was excellent. The location of the hotel is very central, train station is right next door.
The beds need some attention as it feels like they put a piece of plywood on top of the bed springs.
Breakfast and coffee in the room
Tthe wobbly lift (still wobbling after some years) The bathroom lack of aids and alarm especially for a 75 year old on her own. didn't use the bath or shower!
Quiet rooms available, good car parking, easy walk into town. Pleasant bar/lounge and good restaurant. Helpful staff.
The room was nice, clean and comfortable, the bathroom was also clean .
Car parking facilities could be better. A larger more secure car park would be better
Staff friendly rooms and public areas clean
Rooms very very warm at all times, plates were dirty at breakfast was difficult to find one that didn't have marks on it, very noisy in our bedroom especially on the last night after asking for a quiet room
Buffet breakfast was a bit cold. A shame as it was good quality and nicely cooked. For the record we went for breakfast at8 am
Very welcoming staff, lovely room,
Couldn't open the window, room too warm for my liking
car parking good staff helpfull
bed too soft room very warm
Lovely big room and bed breakfast was very nice
Bar area was ideal to meet friends for a coffee and a chat. Staff very helpful and willing to assist whiteout asking. Despite being beside the railway station (which we knew it was) we were not disturbed by it. Room, bed and facilities good.
Internet access was only for 12 hours at a time. We were there for two days and do not sleep all night. Unable to access the internet when awake and had to keep requesting further access from reception.
Very central has everything you need. friendly staff
Clean hotel, friendly and efficient staff + brilliant wifi. We liked the high-ceilinged older style with big room and bathroom. Good service at breakfast even though we realised later that we sat down after breakfast was supposed to have finished.
Go through the station car park to find thw hotel's own car park!
Breakfast buffet was very good. The waiters and bar staff were very pleasant and welcoming
Tub/shower combos needed safety rail on wall to assist with entry.
Location Breakfast (included in room rate) Staff were friendly Hotel reception/lobby and restaurant areas were lovely and welcoming
We paid for an upgrade - Executive Suite: DON'T BOTHER - Our room was negligibly larger than my brother's standard double however his suite was better furnished and contained a larger bed. The room's decor was quite dated and not in the least appealing. The TV in our room was placed at an odd angle from the bed (perhaps to hide the peeling wallpaper). The bath tiles looked as though they hadn't been grouted (or at least bleached) in a few years. The (travel) cot we were provided with was rickety and in a fairly poor condition. There was absolutely nothing executive about our suite at all.
1) 24 Bar facility very versatile, especially when returning to the hotel late. 2) Very nice breakfast facilities and food. 3) Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. 4) Location next to train station.
1) Room window deliberately blocked so that it only opened about 4 inches....not good with hot weather and no air-con. 2) Car park spaces too small + other guests not told to park EXACTLY mid-way in their parking berth...on occasion I had to park and then climb out of the back window of my car! 3) Beds could do with having duvets rather than blankets, but were very comfortable though.
great room clean great breakfast staff excellent but room situation let it down
we were in room 225 which has the worst view of any hotel ive ever been in, a wall with bars on windows, the room was airless and like a sauna, probably because it was situated next too a large extractor fan which was a nuisance all night
nice room, spacious and comfortable
the shower was a let down, needs updating. It would be very hard to was hair.
All in all the hotel was very nice. Breakfast not bad but toasters are rubbish - These need replacing Bed comfortable, plenty of pillows. Would go there again but would insist on a decent bathroom
The bathroom was tiny - 4ft x 4ft The shower only operated correctly if you first pressed to thermostatic control hard into the wall, otherwise not flow or control.
I loved the fact that every thing was on the door step. The train station is literally 5 seconds walk and for drivers plenty of parking at the rear. There are some beautiful landmarks, again on the door step. Plus lots of bars and restaurants, all of which are a cpl of minutes walking distance. Shopping centre is fab too (sooo many shops). Everything you need is literally minutes walking distance. If you don't want to venture out of the hotel thats fine too as there is a lovely lounge and dining area. The food is excellent and not too over priced either. You can have a 3 course meal for just £19.95 but there is a £4 supplement if you have fish or steak but well worth the extra. The Breakfast!!!! Well I honestly have to say there is something for everyone!! If anyone was to be negative with a review of the breakfast then I have to say they must be picky eaters. My partner does'nt eat meat but there was plenty of choice for him, super!! Staff are excellent too, Angus imparticular is a top man that sees to your every need. Coming to see you in September Angus to show you are wedding photos. Thanks for looking after us on our special day!! Oh I forgot to mention I got married whilst staying in carlisle. Just a party of six and was treated if not better as if there were 60 of us. All thanks goes to Claire Hodgson and Angus. Thanks again
If I had to be negative at all it would be about the noise level at the weekends as there is a taxi stop opposite the Hallmark. So best try get a room at the back if you prefer a bit of peace and quiet. Otherwise, join the drinkers and sleep it off in the comfy beds then you won't hear a thing.
Very nice looking building in the heart of the city Rooms where excellent with every thing you could need for a work trip
