The central location and free car park. Breakfast was very good and staff very helpful. Room 206 was on the back of the hotel and we were wakened at 5:30 by recycling bins being emptied. |

I found the location of the hotel excellent, in the centre of the city next to the train station, it was a plus that the hotel had free secure parking. The decor of the hotel downstairs was really good, slightly more dated in the rooms, but still a high standard. The hotel staff were excellent, always available and eager to help. Especially Kealy on reception and Jareslaw on the bar. I would definitely recommend this hotel and i will certainly be back for a stay in the future. |

Overally, very well appointed / decorated. Comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast. Staff were friendly. Public areas were welcoming The lift door (inside) was badly scratched with graffitti. In the morning before I went to breakfast, a chambermaid tried to come into my room to clean it - shiould there not be some way of the housekeeping staff checking whether guests have checked out? |

Location and secure parking I feel that when the hotel was taken over the front of house has been renovated but as soon as you go upstairs and into your room the decor looks tired and not very inviting |

I arrived rather later than I had hoped due to 2 cancelled trains but I was booked into a comfortable room quickly and there was a very handy and welcoming brasserie for an evening meal. The manager was particularly helpful and friendly. Nice room with very good TV! - and wifi. |

Spacious and nicely furnished. Comfy bed Lack of shelf/bench space in the bathroom (usual hotel problem) for toiletries and additional towel rails would be handy. |

The brochure showed a refurbished room which looked very nice. Unfortunately we were given a room which definately was not refurbished. The decore was grubby as were the windows (mouldy) and the shower did not work properly. |

Location, location, location. The recent renovation still very spotty. We had a newly refurbished room, but found no towel rail had been installed in our bathroom (despite the environmentally responsible notices to hang up our towel on the [non-existent] rail if we wanted to do our bit for the environment. Lavatory seat not anchored to lavatory, (though this latter issue was speedily fixed!) Severe understaffing at breakfast -- just two exhausted waitresses for the whole dining room. No ramp for disabled or those with mobility difficulties to cope with the front steps. |

Hotel has 50% re-furbished rooms - we didn't have one of these unfortunately and it felt like we were staying in the 1980's! Other facilities at the hotel are good, so ask for a re-furbished room! |

The Staff were pleasant and Friendly, especially the Reception & Management, who were exceptionally helpful in a recent crisis.Nice decor and pleasant surroundings. Bedroom we had could be better, but ours was an upgrade. Dogs catered for. Would recommend Hotel, not car parking facility. Food was excellent but very slow service, 2 hours to eat a 3 course dinner, even though not really busy.Distance for carrying meals to guests too far from Dining Room. Toasters did not work, staff have asked repeatedly to replace them. Attention to detail from guests requests should be better , more management direction perhaps. Car Park CCTV only views entrance barrier, not entire area, which we found to our cost ,and others car owners recently.... |

Not a lot really, They seem to have spent a lot of money in the public areas and none on the rooms. Room had damp patches on celing and mould in the bathroom. Tv had to be the best bit of the over priced stay. |

Very convenient for the old town centre and railway, easy to find, excellent parking, good breakfast It describes itself as recently refurbished and of 'boutique' character. While the entrance and reception area fall into this category, the room we had was not recently refurbished. While it was of an acceptable standard it was almost dingy, with cig burns in the net curtains, a lavatory that moved slightly (!), and wobbly old sprung mattress on bed. We were disconcerted to find that the lifts and stairs are directly accessible as you enter, while reception desk is at the rear of the building. There clearly have been issues, as the lift has been graffitied - not reassuring. |

Just off junction 44 of the M6 motorway, only 2 miles (3.2 km) from Carlisle's city centre and within easy reach of the Lake District, the hotel offers comfortable, great-value rooms and free parking. |
Located in the town near to Carlisle cathedral and castle, the Crown and Mitre is ideally situated for walks and drives. |
Whilst still retaining the decor and atmosphere of the splendid Georgian era, the County hotel has every modern amenity. |
A beautiful, turn-of-the-century Grade II listed property, situated in the heart of Gretna with gardens laid to lawn, floral borders and shady trees. |
