Location was excellent. Breakfast was very good.
Very cold, small room. I expected more for the money as it was by no means cheap.
Location and place it's self if great, good choice of drinks and menu looked great, breakfast was lovely. Our room was in the attic which seemed brilliant however.......
Water in shower ran cold after 15 minutes which meant one of us had to get a cold shower, room was cold on arrival, not so cold at 6am when we were both awoken by horrific heat and an endless banging directly outside our window. When I raised the issues with the manager presuming he'd rather know so as to correct the problem for future guests he seemed rather put out and told me 'out of my control'
Ideal location, but parking isn't on site, however discounted car park made up for this. Would most definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Every thing about our stay here was perfect. Will stay here again.
Very friendly staff
Room was very smal. Wouldn't want to spend more than one night in it. But value for money because of great location.
Food location staff
Stairs too many !! mirror in room in wrong location not much storage for clothes
Room was in the attic, considering it was February and very cold, the heating in the room was totally inadequate. Informed staff that the room was very cold but no noticeable change to heating felt.
Location is fantastic, the staff were incredibly friendly. We had a Superior Room (Room 9) at the top of the building overlooking the garden. Lovely room and we didn't mind the stairs. Breakfast was included and it was fabulous!
I don't know if the water tank was above our room but the sound of pipes ticking and making a lot of noise started around 7am both mornings. It was quite loud and went on for quite a long time. Albeit nice the room was quite dark as there are no ceiling lights. Also the wifi didn't work in our room although this didn't bother us.
The dinner was delicious.
It was a but noisy, but that is to be expected in the middle of a city.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Brilliant location for the cathedral
The food, beer And service were excellent. The hotel was centrally located which was excellent for accessing the attractions of York.
Hard to sleep with noise from the street at night. Room (executive) was a tad on the small side. Okay for one or two nights but not a week.
The location was excellent, the cleanliness is excellent, the food delicious, and the standard of accommodation is very very good. Some of the rooms are challenging to people who are 6' and over though, so if you are tall ask when booking what room you will be put in.
The Italian receptionist was arrogant and rude holding his hands up to my face when enquiring about the room and table that had been booked for us. The room was booked and paid for by family but the table booked under my name - and this caused some confusion that the receptionist was 'extreme' about, other than that the stay was very pleasant.
Lovely, spotless room with big comfy bed and pillows. The facilities were very good, apart from the cord on the hairdryer wasn't long enough to reach the mirror. Good selection of tea/coffee/biscuits. The staff were very nice. Great choice of real ale in the bar.
Sadly we didn't get much sleep. Room was directly above the bar, facing out on to the street. Woke up several times in the night to the sound of drunk people in the street even though it was a Monday night. This is clearly an ongoing problem. Such a shame as this really has put us off staying again. Noisy early in morning due to staff setting up for breakfast. Breakfast was lovely but there was no black pudding and we weren't told this when we ordered, which we were disappointed about. Nothing extra offered to compensate.
Very, very noisy in the street outside the hotel until 4am (on a Monday night)! Cleaning staff started making noise at 6am! Very unpleasant nights sleep!
Location good for sight seeing Good breakfast
Rooms on the front very noisy due to 1, What sounded like beer kegs being delivered early morning 2, Drunks shouting and arguing during the night
Friendly and helpful staff. Superb breakfasts - I only needed a cup of tea and a cake at lunchtime most days.
Would have liked a bigger bedside cabinet - difficult to get my magazines, phone etc on the narrow one provided. Not the most comfortable bed I've ever had although got used to it after a couple of nights did not like cheap and rather slippery duvet cover especially as in my single room had to sit on the bed to watch TV.
The staff were lovely and the food amazing. The room was comfortable and large for a single bedroom. Great location to explore from.
Very good location. Nice friendly, yet efficient pub. Wonderful breakfast. We also had dinner which was great. Our room was comfortable, bed was marvellous. Will definitely return.
Food and drinks were excellent
Free wifi wouldn't work in our room and a lot of noise from the street but nothing not solved by earplugs.
Very clean and comfortable, like a home from home
It was very noisy on Saturday night. Would stay again only during the week
Staff are all pleasant and helpful.
Very limited dining menu on Sunday evening.
Duvet and Breakfast
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food (breakfast) very good and excellent location from which to explore the City.
Parking difficult, had to walk some distance to car park with luggage
