This traditional inn is in the Cotswold village of Burford, between Oxford and Cheltenham. It mixes original character with modern comforts, including free Wi-Fi and award-winning food.
Score from 143 reviews Very good
the ambience of the old world.
the food has lost its sparkle.
Excellent breakfast choice and decor etc., of the restaurant, together with the log fire, made a good start to the day. Comfort of the lounges with the log fires was something special when returning on a cold day. The room (Windrush) was comfortable and we liked the quality toiletries available. The letter under the door each morning with suggested programme for the day was helpful.
Evening meal in restaurant a little expensive, plus 10% service charge.
Location was great Breakfast was lovely Downstairs amentities cosy especially for time of year we visited (lead up to Xmas) Staff were pleasant enough
The rooms were dated in decor - need brightening and modernising Not value for money- I expected more from my £220/night Shower wasn't powerful
it was very good
Comfortable accommodation. Good food.
*Ambience *Bedroom decor and facilities *Polite and helpful staff *Letters each morning *Log fires
*Expensive evening meal. Better value eating in the lounge...and better menu...more choice. We cancelled the second evening's meal in the restaurant. Menu here a littel too fancy!! *Expensive stay as single occupancy *Slow service at breakfast
comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable place to stay
Tha ambience of the Lamb
staff were too pushy especially the manager, tried hard to get us to eat in during the evening and in the end we chose not to because he was far too pushy
Fantastic staff -nothing was too much trouble Great breakfast
Priory room- taking a shower resulted in a very wet floor
Very cosy Inn in great location in Burford. Food was exceptional for breakfast and dinner. Really lovely place to stay especially in winter with the fires always lighting.
Very good location and service
Gorgeous village. Great shops and restaurants. Lovely olde worlde hotel
Stains on curtains. Could have been cleaner.
The building is a lovely old coaching inn with loads of character. The service was excellent and the food in the restaurant was very enjoyable. Lovely bar with roaring fire and good beers and drinks.
That I only stayed for 1 night, should have been longer.
Our room was too hot and no obvious way of reducing the heat
Friendly staff. Food and beverage service, fine dining and bar. Great atmosphere.
Friendliness . comfort..great food..knowledgeable staff...made to feel very welcome...extra little touches greatly appreciated..hope to be back again..
Slighly tired in places...but not off putting...
Comfort and quality. Garden and terrace lovely.
Bathroom could be improved.
Lovely old inn, with many traditional features
Rowdy experience in restaurant, which staff seemed not to want to deal with.
The location was excellent.
We went to The Lamb Inn as a first wedding anniversary gift to ourselves. I was disappointed to pay what I did only to find stained carpets, peeling plaster and cobwebs on the walls in our room and cobwebs on the drapes on the four poster bed. The breakfast area also had cobwebs on the wall. I mentioned discreetly to the Manager about the state of our room and was told that he would get housekeeping straight onto it and that ordinarily the room cost £215 per night. I paid £160 - ok a discount but hardly an excuse! I was offered a glass of wine. I wasn't interested in compensation, just didn't want to stay in a dirty room. Distinctly underwhelmed and won't be visiting again.
Room was excellent, also the food. The staff were very obliging and friendly. Perfect place to stay in a good location.
The garden The public rooms
Impossibly small shower room made from a cupboard. Overpriced for inadequate room. Poor wifi connection. Watery porridge Eggs benedict... sauce tasted from a jar...
Attention to detail and facilities provided in rooms. Food good and breakfast very good staff polite and helpful. Have been to the Lamb twice and The Bear once part of the same group. Would always stay there if in Burford.
the wi-fi a bit of a pain as every time you have re register even though you are asked if you are a returning customer it keeps coming up with e mail address already used gave up in the end didn't bother to use it anymore.
Character, amazing position, bar, staff, gardens
Food wasn't great (pie wasn't seasoned at all - had to get some ketchup.... And chips were fries ;() room was a bit dirty for £220 per night! Stains and hairs ;(...... Think more of a £150 would be a more fairer price.
