The staff always had a smile and were very helpful. This place was pretty good for its age. If you can accept a little less for comfort and facilities, then you will be okay here.
The beds were a bit saggy - found it difficult to get a good rest. The toilet was slow to flush and never did completely. We wound up using the pub wash rooms down stairs.
Breakfast was good
Evening meal was of very poor standard, looked and tasted unappealing and the amount of food you got was ridiculous. (14 chips). The meal we got would of been better served on a side plate rather than a dinner plate.
Excellent food, friendly staff, comfortable room.
Waitress had long hair which wasn't tied back and my son found a hair in his food. Also, there was a lot of dust and dirt behind the television stand and in the drawers.

Glad I was only staying two nights
Room was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, bed looked as though it had been slept in without being changed and bit hadn't been emptied. Room was two doors away from pub so noise not a problem. Pub itself very dark and shabby, not inviting at all. Breakfast was fine with good choice but still didn't tempt me to eat or drink there
Just for sleep. Not comfortable as other b&b.
Clean quiet and friendly A good stopover on the way north
Very friendly pleasant staff, room reasonably spacious, food ok
The location - the road is really noisy and it was impossible to shut the noise out because the room then became too stuffy
Good food and beer
2.5 miles from city center and a bit noisy in the hotel rooms over pub
Good food, very comfortable and excellent, welcoming staff! Would recommend for anyone visiting this area.
The food was amazing, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the location was right where we wanted to be. All at a very affordable price. I would go back again.
The first room was too noisy but we were soon moved some where quieter :) We had booked 2 rooms but there had been a mix up and the hotel had only received a booking for 1 :( . Luckly they could squeeze us all in. My paperwork from the website clearly said 2 rooms and their's said 1. Web site fail.
Reception staff did help to recommend some other nearby b&b
I booked to stay as I was attending a wedding nearby. The booking was made in the morning before we set off from Merseyside. Half way through the journey I received a phone call to say there had been a double booking. They blamed it on it being the last room available & sometimes it doesn't take it down when it's gone. We then had to pull in at the services (already running late) to find alternative accommodation for the night. Would think twice before using booking.com again & certainly wouldn't book at Lambton Hounds Inn
Staff were helpful and cheerful, the family room was large and clean, food was very good, good value for the money we paid
The cozy bar, good shower, comfortable bed,TV and friendly staff
Not a great deal
very laid back, several bars to relax in and a separate dinning room. Of cause the cocktail bar from Olympic
the showers were small but very good water pressure and the kids were very happy with their own beds
The world cup was on and the noise from that was fine and then the music was fine but once the very very poor karaoke singers came out that was criminal!!! The door didn't lock going up to the rooms from the pub so we didn't feel comfortable going down to the pub while leaving the kids upstairs. It was a long noisy night.
when we arrived there we didnt get much help to get booked in. and when we left there was no one to hand the back to.
Conveniently located just off the A167 in Pity Me, a pleasant suburb of Durham, within walking distance of the city centre. Better accommodation than the price tag would suggest. Staff are friendly. Nice beer. Plenty of car parking. What food I had in the pub was well up to standard. If I have a reason to stay overnight in Durham again, I will certainly consider staying here again. The minor inconvenience of a 20-30 minute walk into Durham is nothing compared to the additional cost of a hotel room in the city or the hassle of driving into the city from a hotel further out.
Not much to dislike about this place really. Yes, it is bit cheap and cheerful, but what do you expect for 38 quid a night? I would not choose to stay if travelling with the wife, as she prefers more luxurious surroundings. However as a place to stay when travelling on my own, it is perfectly adequate. Do bring earplugs though, it can be noisy at night just because of the ordinary comings and goings of other guests.
Locals.u cud make a killin, re location.
Rooms were clean but very basic surrounds.
Area surrounding was pretty dodgy
The Inn was perfect for our requirements . Staff were friendly and everywhere was clean.
The price of drinks was outrageous with a pint of bitter and gin and tonic at £8. soft drinks were £2.40 each. There is no way locals would be paying these prices , so suspect we were charged tourist rates
Huge room for a family..
The meals were very good value and staff were friendly
Couldn't get any hot water from shower, pillows bit lumpy and no wi fi (though that could be a plus!)
Very friendly staff, simple standard but good value for money.
