Staff Cleanliness Rooms Overall stay
The bar in the evening
Room bed bathroom
excellent value for money. the lady that does the breakfasts is very friendly and helpful. not too far from the city centre.
The room for 4 people needs a new shelf in the bathroom as the one fitted is on a slope so you cant use it as everything slides off it. also it would be good if the bedroom had a mirror in it as well as we had to wait for each other to get ready in the bathroom which wasted valuable drinking time!!!!
Cheap over night stay
I didn't like being woke up at 3.30 by two druken women who had lost there keys to get in the room won't be going back
Booked this Inn as it was near the venue where the Durham Folk Club meet. Comfortable room and friendly staff. Very reasonably priced.
Hair dryer situated in hallway but not usable as did not blow. Didn't bother complaining as minor problem.
The pub itself is great - so good I wish I could transport it home. Restaurant excellent; staff and customers friendly and chatty. A proper pub in all the best ways.
The accomodation is sarge, if not bleak. Clean enough and beds comfortable but little in facilities and really could do with brightening up and refreshing. Such a shame after the pub itself.
Very noisy room, uncomfortable bed. Few stains on covers, not very nice smell in room. Faced busy noisy road. Abrupt staff at breakfast.
Very Good Value
Poor maintenance of fixtures and fittings esp. in the bathroom
Characterful old pub, pleasant and friendly staff. Value for money.
Loo flush in the room didn't work.
Low price for the area.
Restaurant is not worth using. Although convienient after a 300mile drive, the food was basic and of a low standard despite some awards that suggest otherwise. Rooms are basic - decoration tired. Not up to modern standards
food was excellent
bathroom was very small
the breakfast was lovely, the staff were friendly.
the shower was not very clean, no heat in the room, cobwebs on the ceiling.
Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Very pleasant evening meal waitress.
Noisy music from 10pm until 12.45pm. Loud noise on pipes when turning on taps in bathroom and flushing toilet.
We stayed here on a Friday night and it was very lively. Staff were very friendly and customers too. We had our two english bullterriers with us and they were made a fuss of by all. Food was great. I ordered the duck for dinner and it was delicious and a hearty portion. Room was clean and comfortable and only £65 for the two of us with a £10 supplement for the 'dog charge' so £75 which included a lovely big breakfast. The pub itself would be an excellent location shoot as it hasn't been cheaply modernised like other 'traditional' places which tend to lose a bit of character in the process. We had a great stay here and would recommend it as a dog friendly establishment.
It was warm
Room smelt of damp, was very 'tired' and clearly in need of modernisation and decorating. Pillows and mattress that had clearly been around for a long time, and sharing the bathroom with a cockroach - after which I didn't put myself through trying the breakfast!
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pub itself is lovely and atmospheric featuring a bar from the RMS Olympic (Titanic sister ship)Located close to Park and Ride access to Durham. A really nice restaurant with well priced meals. The reputation locally for serving good food. The room was clean, comfy and well appointed with ensuite. Parking on site. Great breakfast.
Nothing to dislike
Not aware I had a booking when I arrived.
Great breakfast. Room was above the pub and it was Quiz Night so a bit noisy. However the place has character and is convenientky placed for travellers with easy access to Durham.
Noise from pub below bedroom.
Nice, big and clean room.
We got a great welcome from Joey the bartender and several of the locals. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a great night of playing pool. Breakfast was very good with friendly staff doing the serving. We enjoyed our stay!
Not a thing!
the service was very good, breakfast good choice, nice and hot.Nice decor in restaurant and bar, room clean good facilities. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
The landlady katie was amazing. Hotel runs bcoz opf her
Owner on arriving and staff [ barman] in the pub later that evening very friendly and welcoming. Lady, whom I took to be the owner's wife very pleasant at breakfast which was also very good. Clean and tidy room but NOT in pub, but the downstairs front room of a converted terraced house two doors away.
Photo somewhat misleading. Pub on main road in a terrace. Classifying as Durham for someone without a car maybe factually correct, as per address, but it is pushing it a little- a £1.50 bus ride or a £6.00 taxi fare. Should I have done more research or should it state the distance from city centre?.
We heard the constant beat of music and Pub noise till 1:30 am
Good value for money and helpful staff, good transport links (if without a car)
