Since the Cheema family overtook the Lansdowne in 2010, much has changed in the building itself as well as the way of managing it. Our unique achievement here is having succeeded in maintaining a warm & friendly family-like atmosphere, yet in a guest house that in more and more aspects & standards may as well compete with big corporation hotels. Add the marvellous location, right between the hills and the sea, in the very town centre, and you will get a perfect recipe for an unforgettable stay in Hastings

Very friendly people. Couldn't do enough for you
Reception and dining room staff very pleasant, although seemed in experienced in dining room. Very comfortable bed etc
We went on Mardi Gras weekend great fun.
Lift was too small but we prefer to use stairs anyway
Hotel would benefit from external paint-job to improve first impression
Good breakfast. Polite & helpful staff
Booking.com claimed cheapest 4 star hotel in Hastings. I booked on that claim and found it to be more of a guest house than hotel. For little more cost could have stayed in genuine 4 star hotel. Lansdown is not 4 star hotel and i felt cheated because it was way below expectations of 4 star.
Nice breakfast - good service
We liked the sea view.. Comfortable room and decent shower room.
Constant whirring noise which was really annoying. Bird poo covered balcony.
Good help from the staff
Rooms were not clean on the carpets. Power went out while we were there
Good location great sea view clean room good facilities fridge in the room a cafetiere and small jar of coffee included
Shame breakfast not included in the price. Very narrow twin beds.
Nice comfortable clean hotel with lovely sea views. Staff were very helpful and polite and the breakfast was delicious. Would recommend.
everything was standard nothing really exceptional but welcoming
a bit more dusting required
Excellent wi-fi and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in
Very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom, which was also a little small and the shower enclosure needed repairing.
- Amazing location, close to everything you could possibly want. - Free wi-fi and decent connection speed. - Room with sea view - simply breathtaking. - General look an feel of the hotel, interesting decor. - Good bathroom. - Generally clean. - Polite staff.
- It was boiling hot (in the middle of winter) despite the radiator being off and an open window. Can only imagine how hot it will get during the summer. - The bed was extremely soft. By the end of our stay my back was hurting every morning.
Getting 2 parking tickets they need to inform you to park underneath not outside the hotel
The location, short walk from the train station.
Great location on the seafront and a short walk to the town centre and shops. We'd booked a seaview room which was nice to wake up and see the sea in the morning. Room was nicely decorated and very spacious. Tea and coffee making facilities good too.
For the price of the room it would have been good to have breakfast included. £7.50 each we thought was far too much to add on. Hot water was slow to warm up, we had to run the taps and shower for a little while before it was hot enough.
Had a wonderful nights stay, great staff, lovely and homely hotel. Will defiantly return!
Staff present . Booked 2 rooms sea view room 14 double , modern , clean . Room 25 been partly updated furniture needs updating , comfy bed , good shower and nice view
Welcome from the staff. Helpful and informative. Location on the front with a view of the sea. cleanliness of all the rooms Breakfast
Décor a little tired but obviously refurbishment is ongoing over the winter.
Well located on the sea front and my room had a sea view. Also overnight parking outside is free. The breakfast was good. It was reasonably priced for an out-of-season stay.
The public areas are in need of an upgrade. The furniture and the decor are 'tired' and out-of-date. In my room the chair, which was already rickety, collapsed and a light build in the bathroom was broken...the whole place needs better maintenance.
The sea view from the room. The comfort of the bed.
The small lift.
The staff were very helpful, same man checked us in at 2am and served us breakfast in morning. Although the hotel is old fashioned the decor is new and it was clean with crisp sheets on comfy bed. Would recommend for short stay
Our bedroom was newly refurbished and was extremely pleasant and good money for £60 a night. We were also upgraded to a sea view room free of charge.
The actual hotel is quite tired and needs some love and attention, but couldn't fualt our room
Location , wifi ok. Evening reception.
The less of staffs. House keeping nock the door 10 am asked when I'm gonna check out. It's ok if after 11am as a check out time, just want a tips I guess. Just about to leave but then no way.
The balcony and the sea view and room was excellent.
The fan flap in the bathroom kept flapping in the wind.
