Just about everything.
The food served in the pub was brilliant and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
being picky here, the room was very hot, and opening the window meant we could here the adjacent road quite loudly.
The pub is great the location breathtaking
Good value for money. I would definitely stay here again. The hosts were so hospitable and made you feel at ease.
COULD'NT FAULT IT. WAS MADE TO FEEL AT HOME STRAIGHT AWAY WITH THE WARM AND FRIENDLY OWNERS. ATE THERE IN THE EVENING STEAKS WERE EXCELLENT AS SO WAS THE FULL ENGLISH THE NEXT MORNING. WOULD ALWAYS PUT THIS AS A PORT OF CALL IF IN THE AREA AGAIN.
Meal in pub Great Breakfast Friendly staff
Bedroom lovely and warm when we arrived, but ICE cold when retiring to bed, there should have been heating in December!!
Staff food everything excellent
The staff are great. A proper northern welcome from Tom, Stella and the team. The full English breakfast is very good. The beer in the pub is well kept and the roaring fire in nice on a cold night.
It was freezing outside (-4c). In the morning there was ice on the INSIDE of the bedroom window. It took me right back to the 1970s, as did the decor in the bedroom. It could do with the extra rough artex and the brown paint removing and a more modern look all round. We were in the room named 'Black Hill.' It's probably not their best room. The one pictured on the website looks nice. If it's cold ask them to leave the heating on all night.
Location and food was good. Wine choice excellent.
Room was quite small even though we had the superior room.
Open fire. Good food, excellent breakfast, Friendly staff. Location for walking good, village with facilities one and a half miles away.
Poor room. Limited view by position of window. Room needs updating.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food excellent
the location was good, the inn was full of charm and history. The hosts were excellent and make you feel as if you are at home.
Our room was over the kitchen so the kitchen smells tended to rise up and into the room. However there was a plug in air fragance device which worked well.
Food was great, staff very friendly
Room next door kept bathroom fan on in night and had to be asked to switch it off. Restricted parking but we found a space when needed
The Lantern Pike is a very tired property and needs updating
Lovely cooked breakfast and the bar snacks were also great . Food arrived very quickly and piping hot.
Rooms very small and the bed mattress was slightly uncomfortable. Couldn't get the shower to warm up and was told by reception on leaving the cord in the bathroom also needs to be on so look out for that.
Comfortable bed Great Breakfast Friendly folk Pub downstairs
A little bit dated
Food was fine Staff were good Nice open fire in bar
Bedroom was cramped poorly lit as was the shower room. It all looked tired
Food,staff friendly,great breakfast
The shower needs attention, and bathroom needs the black removing from the walls etc
The landlady Stella was a lovely friendly person who understood that the room was unsuitable and it was unfortunate that she didn't have another room for us to move to. The breakfast was very good.
The room was very dark and gloomy and the beds although comfortable were very creaky. However the main problem was that there was a very low beam running accross the ceiling - not good as a 6'1" man. Maybe this should be mentioned on the booking site.
Liked the traditional country pub atmosphere. Lovely full English breakfast. Friendly staff.
Friendliness and concern of all staff Quietness of room (were were at the back of the property) Rural location, although road quite busy; easy access to A6 and to breathtaking views. Excellent cooking and service
Room rather compact, but this wasn't a surprise as the description was upfront.
Food, food, food plus lovely hosts and really helpful and professional staff, the location... in fact the whole package.
Cramped room and creaky beds but that is the nature of old inns, didn`t spoil our trip in the slightest.
being able to walk out onto hill side
room well provided but small
As keen walkers this was a perfect base for hillwalking and Tom was extremely helpful in advising on routes and providing substantial packed lunches. A great host and very delicious breakfasts! Make the scrambled eggs & salmon a priority :)
Bed could have been a bit firmer but in general the room was good value and served its purpose.
The food was out of this world very enjoyable the hospitality was just the same very friendly staff entertainment and breakfast to match. Would recommend to anyone who fancies staying in the area and wouldn't think twice about booking again thanks guys!
