Good service. Good food.
No hot water. Shower did not work. Toilet seat broken. No sky TV
Oldy worldy character
Had to fill bath up with the shower head as knob on bath tap had seized up
-Delicious Dinner and Breakfast, Quality of food was amazing. -Style of Accommodation, Room was very nice and liked that the that the three rooms all had there own style - Perfect Location - Good Value
Waiting Staff for dinner really let the gorgeous Meal down. We were the only table (there was 6 of us) and our drinks were sat for 10 minutes on the side while they were all chatting/eating. We had to ask several times for salt/sauces/drinks etc - service was really quite poor. Breakfast service saying that and reception - was fine. Shower in room 3 only warm and pressure not very good. Carpet was a little grubby.
Bathroom could have been cleaner
Rooms very nice and very comfortable beds. Great to have different decor to the norm. Lovely breakfast and attentive staff. Nice location and a few mins from city centre.
Very late check in despite reporting in at 10 am. Came back at 3.30 and didn't get into room until 4.50 pm. On a positive we did get a complimentary drink later in the evening but would have preferred to get into our room before this. Also no Wifi in room. Bathrooms in both rooms were not as clean as they could be.
Comfortable bed. Quality towels. Nespresso machine. Good restaurant.
Room No 14 (2nd floor) was too hot, too dark and extremely noisy throughout the night. Had requested a quiet room. Wooden beam in bedroom dangerously close to bed. Mainly decaf coffee capsules, no tea bags, kettle full of lime scale, only one bedside light, toilet seat cracked, floor tiles in bathroom cracked, grouting above bath black, shower spills onto floor. Steps are worn, sloping and dark with no handrail in corners. Staff member walked ahead of us to the room and stopped regularly to watch us walk up stairs with our luggage. She offered no assistance even though my husband walks with a stick. On checkout we were again charged for the restaurant meal which we had paid for and had to prove by producing the receipt. Staff member could/would not issue another invoice.
Staff - friendly, efficient, give 110%+.......
Rooms need a good overall - Bathrooms tired...... Mattress protectors required!
The rooms are all so different from any other hotel. They have themes of cows. Our room was massive. Looked at a lot of rooms and they were all great. The food is excellent especially if you like steak.
Staff were friendly; room price was okay; room was clean; the building had personality--history.
When someone had a shower above us, overflow started coming through our ceiling!--and the same thing happened to someone at another table while we were in the dining room for breakfast. Get those shower heads limited to match the drains!
Amazing old building right in the heart of Salisbury. Very good restaurant attached.
Notwithstanding the age of the building and the headaches this must cause, there is a serious need for a maintenance overhaul: loose toilet seat; mould in shower, shower mounting pulling off wall. Also no towels on second night.
Bathroom, panel off bath dirty window frames
Staff were very helpful Good location next to cathedral
One of our party were moved to student accommodation (all that was available) due to sewage problem with toilet. Staff knew of problem in morning but we didn't find out until we arrived at 18.30. Inn is dirty, needs updating and poorly managed. Breakfast luke warm. They ran out of steaks on a satday night - and its a steakhouse!!
Loved the concept of the decor, bed was comfy and had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was lovely.
We had Room 17, rather small and extremely stuffy in the late summer even with window open. There were stains on the carpet and the timber facing on the wall needed a long, deep dusting, I wouldn't like to stay there if I had allergies.
Staff were very friendly and efficient steaks were excellent
Shower andvtoilet too small
Excellent specialist steak restaurant - try the New York Strip Steak Excellent bar Comfortable rustic rooms Nice period building facing Salisbury Cathedral - excellent location
Nothing, looking forward to staying again
The quality of the english Breakfast
From first impressions my stay looked to be a good one. My room was large and had all facilities at first glance. shortly I realised theres was not a stand up shower available, slightly disappointing. Later I found out some friends were also staying as we had travelled for a wedding, I met them downstairs where they firstly weren't so lucky with their initial room, but had taken a second offered. We sat in the bar/restaurant area of what was a lifeless and dreary setting, having lived in warwick where you also have a 'Lazy Cow' this was nothing like we had previously experienced. It became quickly apparent to us that for a Friday night this 'Boutique' hotel was far from full, we discovered that other friends had even turned down their booked rooms and gone elsewhere. Bookings for the restaurant were also clearly not their, looking around we noticed something like 9 bar/floor staff and only 6 tables of customers. this was a clear enough indication that maybe this was not the place to be, we looked elsewhere for dinner and quickly found a quirky and busy Pub/Restaurant no more than 10 minutes walk away. we were greeted with smiles and seated within a bustling food environment exactly what we had previously hoped for. On return to the hotel we found ourselves locked out? after ringing the numbers posted up outside with no reply we had to wake my friends partner who in turn herself had to un-lock the doors for us. the first nights stay was discounted by £50 in compensation. But I do question this, surely access in and out of the building is required for all Guests at all times? My view of the Lazy Cow is that it needs some serious life, personality and service standards injecting into it, better training of the seemingly young staff. I would not pay to stay here again if these points raised were the same. The feel of the place is so important during all times of the day from the check in, breakfast, bar drinks and restaurant.
The food was good
The outside stairs up to our room were covered with cigarette ends which wasn't the best start! The hall carpet was very tied and in need of a visit from a Hoover! The room at first glance looked good but again a massive disappointment. The carpet was thread near and worse still.... Dirty! All the walls were in desperate need of a paint. The bathr
Location great Bed clean,comfortable
Be lack of cleanliness eg, grout behind bath taps black, Lights not working in ceiling, No sign to show Fire Escape, No assembly point,Re fire Room could not have been dusted prior to our arrival Do they own a Vacuum Cleaner?
Restauran is very goodt!!
Great location, Good breakfast options and well made, I liked the concept.
A bit loose around the edges and attention to detail could be improved: e.g. Broken toilet seat, chipped tiles, random placed hooks, no kettle (until asked for and the it was provided straight away).... Nothing major but if these were fixed it would be excellent rather than OK. Matteress could do with a topper as could feel buttons.
We stayed on the first night of our honeymoon and were very pleased with the accomodation. Very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Very nice breakfast as well !!
The stairs are a bit of a problem after a few to drink at the reception. It would have been nice to have a cup of something in the morning but the coffee maker wasn't working.
Location was excellent and the restaurant was very good
Fabulous cow themed rooms lots of character. Staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was super, they were happy to prepare anything we asked for.
The bar prices were a little high.
+ location + breakfast (any choice from menu in addition to continental breakfast)
if you don't like old quirky buildings and design, then don't go for the lazy cow. The bathroom was very basic. The beds were ok for one night but not very comfortable
Everything had a fantastic time :):)
