Friendly and very attentive staffs :) their rooms are very nicely decorated and well equipped with amenities.
The hotel as a unique character, very nice. Very good breakfast.
- the hotel description states that there is a coffee machine in the room and there isn't any, though there are capsules.
The room was warm and comfortable, loved the decor and massive bathroom! Food at breakfast was so so good too.
The hot water was a bit variable.
Bed springs coming out of mattresses and dirty and damp rooms. I tried three before we left and went next door to stay in a luxury four poster room for £20 more.
Everything else about our stay was excellent; we love the building, the relaxed atmosphere and the fantastic steak.
The bed was appalling! Just a layer of springs, we both had a terrible night's Test it yourselves if you haven't already, as I complained sleep to the receptionist when we left.
good breakfast, large rooms helpful staff.
Heating not on in bathroom cold shower ok if your 5 foot 5.
Location is great and the bedroom was of a good size ( it was a family room ) but the sofa ( as part of the sofa bed ) was not comfortable enough to sit on. Staff were friendly.
Overpriced for what your get. It needs to be 25% cheaper to be value. The music from the pub was so loud until the early hours it was impossible to sleep. There were no bath towels in our room. We first asked at 6pm and had to ask again at 8pm to get them. Bathroom was outdated and looked dirty ( black grout etc ) although was clean. Toilet seat completely broken and not fixed to the bowl ( something that should get picked up with housekeeping not a customer complaining. ). We accidentally left some personal items behind by accident which we asked to be posted to us.. This never happened. For the money they charge you would expect more. On Sunday ( when a lot of people were checking out ) the person on reception was also the person taking breakfast orders and serving in the restaurant. Not fair on her as she was rushed. I expect a hotel to have adequate staff to process normal and expected queries ( i.e. it can't come as a surprise that weekend guests want to check out on a Sunday ). When eventually some one was around to check out we were not aksed how our stay was or whether there had been any problems .. perhaps they knew the answer !
The staff were helpful
We only had one towel between two. The shower was cold The room was not cleaned to resonable standard Two light bulbs were missing
Location Bar area Restaurant
Room needed maintenance several light bulbs not working and no hot water from main shower. Bathroom also too small for the size of the room.
Buffet Breakfast was excellent 60 pounds was taken off bill due to defiencies of the room
Water leaking into room from above room when showering. Noise of traffic made it hard to sleep. Hot water was not available 95 percent of the time.
Very little to like, maybe if you like the quirkiness that's a positive, I found the hotel to be trying to hard, too much emphasis on the "cow" theme throughout
No wifi, parking isn't connected, and not included in price, room was dark, lacked proper lighting and relied on lamps. Room in general was grubby, dirty, there was a hole in the bedding right in the middle, in clear sight but they clearly couldn't be bothered to change it, shower didn't work (no hot water) bath didn't drain water, boiler or something was very noisy from neighbouring rooms (rattled very loud), staff attempted to be helpful but with a lack of them around, waiting for the key at the desk took a long time, they also just apologised, not actions, just "sorry about that", would definitely never, ever stay here again
The staff were helpful and welcoming
The room was filthy, the bathroom tired - 4 out of 5 bulbs did not work, broken handle on the shower, loo seat loose etc etc. The rooms are in dire need of basic maintenance and deep cleaning
the rooms are designed and equipped in a pleasant way making the guest feel special
the bathroom was a little cold and the hot water somewhat sporadic in the morning
The pub was good
The first roon no11 had running water Down the walls and near the sockets. I was then moved to room 3 somewhat better but had disgusting carpet and had VERY bad water staining to the hallway and bedroom. I tried to contact reception two times and each time I had to go and find somebody myself
Good service. Good food.
No hot water. Shower did not work. Toilet seat broken. No sky TV
comfortable bed & chair, big TV and delicious breakfast. Despite being above a restaurant it was fairly quiet. Delightful old worldly atmosphere. The featured 'real' tea making facilities were a nice touch with decent sized cups too.
Wi-Fi useless. Very small shower room with no way to dry towels. The drain to the basin was blocked and the shower control tap was broken. Staff were sympathetic but forgot to do the simplest request. Despite have enough room there was only one bedside light.
Oldy worldy character
Had to fill bath up with the shower head as knob on bath tap had seized up
-Delicious Dinner and Breakfast, Quality of food was amazing. -Style of Accommodation, Room was very nice and liked that the that the three rooms all had there own style - Perfect Location - Good Value
Waiting Staff for dinner really let the gorgeous Meal down. We were the only table (there was 6 of us) and our drinks were sat for 10 minutes on the side while they were all chatting/eating. We had to ask several times for salt/sauces/drinks etc - service was really quite poor. Breakfast service saying that and reception - was fine. Shower in room 3 only warm and pressure not very good. Carpet was a little grubby.
Bathroom could have been cleaner
Rooms very nice and very comfortable beds. Great to have different decor to the norm. Lovely breakfast and attentive staff. Nice location and a few mins from city centre.
Very late check in despite reporting in at 10 am. Came back at 3.30 and didn't get into room until 4.50 pm. On a positive we did get a complimentary drink later in the evening but would have preferred to get into our room before this. Also no Wifi in room. Bathrooms in both rooms were not as clean as they could be.
Comfortable bed. Quality towels. Nespresso machine. Good restaurant.
Room No 14 (2nd floor) was too hot, too dark and extremely noisy throughout the night. Had requested a quiet room. Wooden beam in bedroom dangerously close to bed. Mainly decaf coffee capsules, no tea bags, kettle full of lime scale, only one bedside light, toilet seat cracked, floor tiles in bathroom cracked, grouting above bath black, shower spills onto floor. Steps are worn, sloping and dark with no handrail in corners. Staff member walked ahead of us to the room and stopped regularly to watch us walk up stairs with our luggage. She offered no assistance even though my husband walks with a stick. On checkout we were again charged for the restaurant meal which we had paid for and had to prove by producing the receipt. Staff member could/would not issue another invoice.
Staff - friendly, efficient, give 110%+.......
Rooms need a good overall - Bathrooms tired...... Mattress protectors required!
The rooms are all so different from any other hotel. They have themes of cows. Our room was massive. Looked at a lot of rooms and they were all great. The food is excellent especially if you like steak.
Staff were friendly; room price was okay; room was clean; the building had personality--history.
When someone had a shower above us, overflow started coming through our ceiling!--and the same thing happened to someone at another table while we were in the dining room for breakfast. Get those shower heads limited to match the drains!
