The Lion Hotel  

Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was plentfull. Views were amazing.

Room was a little small especially with a dog. Food was good but we had to wait several times for repleneshing of breakfast buffet items ie eggs

Decided against bar meal on last evening as bar was over-full with drinkers (large group of 'local' men??). Wouldn't describe bar as 'stylish' - see 6 below.

The location was fine and the staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was very good but as we had no other meals there I can't comment on them

The hotel is very outdated in terms of style. It has a distinctly 1970s feel and feels a bit sad. Our room was generally ok although the carpets badly need replacing as they look dull and dirty.

The bar and restaurant were good. Food was excellent.

The room tariffs shown in the booklet in the room were nothing like the amount we paid so I can only assume they had not been updated.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.

The reception welcome was surprisingly poor :(

The bath and sink were not cleaned.

Friendly helpfulness of staff. Free wifi. Attractive and comfortable room. (Room 40).

Wifi in bedroom 40 (at the top of the hotel and thus furthest from the public rooms) was weak - albeit prior info did so inform that wifi was only available in the public areas. Hence my 'Facilities - Good' instead of 'Excellent' score. I understand from Reception that plans are being made to extend the wifi coverage.

We had a great time at the Lion Hotel. The room was quiet and comfortable with free wi-fi though this I think depends where your room is. They say it's only available in the public areas and make no claims for bedrooms! Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of items. We also enjoyed two evening meals there with good home style dishes. The hotel is pleasantly situated in the centre of Criccieth and is a few minutes walk from the sea and the castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Excellent location and great amenities in the town with easy access to the coast and mountains.

The hotel rules and facilities were not great for a family with teenage children but a short walk got you into the village which was very accommodating. My bed was made with some paperwork I was working on in the bed along with a chocolate bar wrapper.

Lovely food, lovely young staff, especially hardworking Kate. Relaxing atmosphere

Rather miserable and unwelcoming mature barman. Did not want to be there!

Odd room which was under a staircase, the bathroom was cold enough that we didn't need a fridge, not helped by the weather. We didn't get enough towels and when I asked we got more hand towels so I had to ask again and got told off by the receptionist as she was about to close up (at 9.30pm), we had been in the lounge but I waited as they seemed busy. Just outside out room was a door to the car park and so we had a steady flow of people going in and out from early morning to late evening plus, despite the cold, this door was wedged open for most of the day.

Inside was nice. I sat and warmed by the open fire. The staff were really friendly and my dog was welcome for just an extra £5. Lovely furniture inside the hotel (downstairs).

The room had only one radiator and the refreshments shelf had been installed over it. This meant that the heat did not radiate round the room. As the room had three outside walls, it meant that it got very cold. We were also disturbed by the conversations of smokers outside in the yard, as the air brick was positioned on the wrong side of the room. If it had been locatd on the back, we would not have been hearing these conversations with startling clarity. We would stay at the Lion again but would request a different room and recommend that people don't use rooms 1 or 37.

I loved the cat who lived in the hotel, most staff were friendly and helpful.The hotel was also very clean.

Room 15 was above the pub of the hotel and very loud music, and would not change us. Also cold and could not put heating on, as it was on a timer. Shower needs updating, big time.

Lots of locals in the bar in the evening. Friendly and helpful staff. who went out of their way to solve a problem straight away.

Bathroom a bit spartan.

We only stayed briefly as we arrived in wales really late, but I have been told by my friends that you need to give Grace a promotion! She was lovely and kept the bar open for us even though we didn't get there until half ten. Very happy with her service and the whole hotel, really lovely.

The Lion Hotel is a very comfortable, friendly hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and we certainly will be returning!

Nice, clean hotel very close to the railway station.

Couples bed could have been wider.
