The Five Arrows is at the gates of stunning Waddesdon Manor. It features 11 individual bedrooms, a superb restaurant and a fine wine list.
Score from 143 reviews Excellent
Only downside of the hotel was that on the Friday morning when we woke up it was fairly noisy from the traffic just outside our window. Still a pretty minor downside!
Rooms in annex quiet. Staff pleasant and efficient. Nice ambience.
Door to bathroom did not close properly. Extractor fan had been isolated and pull chord was high up. Could not open all windows, we stayed in July 14 during hot spell. Disappointed with steak on Fri night.
Constant humming noise in room 4
Room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Shower very good. Food vas of a good standard and reasonably priced.
Double glazing was ineffectual, and as our room was at the front and the Lion is sited on a main road, we found traffic noise rather intrusive. Also, not the pubs fault, some feature in the road caused the room to shudder when an HGV went over it.
Large rooms with comfortable beds. Restaurant nicely decorated.
Heavy traffic on the road outside. No staff seemed to be available between 3 and 5pm even though check in was from 2pm. We arrived just before three to be told to use a side entrance if we needed to go out. We wanted to ask a question of the staff a little bit later but they were nowhere to be found til 5pm!
Everything great, room was brilliant, great bed and shower. Owner was lovely too.
Not sure if wifi could have done with instructions/info in room. Also very picky but: breakfast could have been so much better with tiny changes. Fresh orange juice and better coffee isn't difficult or expensive.
We only stayed one night and eat at the Pub so our views are limited but we were made very welcome and the stay in general was very comfortable.
Though the stay was comfortable the noise from the traffic on main A4, which the pub is located on was very disturbing and is why we would not be staying there again.
Staff helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast very good. Room and bathroom large and very clean. Loved the beautiful hanging baskets outside. .
The road is very busy but, as it's an 'A' road, it's to be expected.
Great room. Large and comfortable king size bed. Good dinner "fish and chips" special
Breakfast limited. Poor choice of cold breakfast. No pastries, cold meats or fruit.
Its location to Aylesbury
Good location and friendly, helpful staff. The room was comfortable and a good size. Great breakfast . We enjoyed our stay and would return but would want to stay in a room at the back.
We had to find somewhere for our evening meal as The Lion was not doing food on the Thursday night which was a shame. Our room was at the front. The road is fairly busy and used by lorries so was noisy early.
The room and facilities were very good. We enjoyed our meal in the evening.
Unfortunately the room we were in was facing the road, which had lorries going by during the night, and with no secondary glazing was very noisy.
Nice light airy room, very clean. Comfortable bed, nice vanity area. Good mirror to dry hair at. Large bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent food. Large parking area.
Two pillows but one was too hard to use. No sausages available, they had run out at weekend but we stayed on a Wednesday! Very noisy with doors banging a lot until late. View at back was over a broken roof above an outside storage area.
Awsome steak!! One of the best I've had in a long time
Great room - plenty of space and a thoughtful use of space between bedroom and bathroom that was a makeup area/dressing room. Sofa allowed a combination of sitting room vs bedroom Nice bar area and choice of beer Good breakfast, well cooked, tasty and filling Friendly staff and efficient check in/check out
Room at the front was a bit noisy from main road - this is a minor point.
Helpful staff, excellent meals.
Noise in bedroom (boiler?); radiator didn't work (but we didn't report it...).
Food, both breakfast and dinner, bathroom facilities generally and power shower in particular and friendly staff.
Character, friendly staff and reasonably priced food
The welcome, friendliness, helpfulness of all the staff. Room was spotless, warm and very well equipped for the price; excellent value. Food was very good, well presented and copious. Good parking. Overall excellent value for money.Would recommend and stay again.
Nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere and food were great
mattress on bed could have been more comfortable, could feel springs.
Cosy bar atmosphere, good food and staff very accommodating.
A good location for Oxford and Waddesdon Manor. We loved the accommodation and it really was spotless, Steak night was tremendous value.
The lady who served breakfast was rather curt and cleared all the cereals table away while we sat eating our breakfast. As we were the only people in the room at the time this felt uncomfortable!!
Staff very friendly, food excellent would stay agian
Wonderful landlord and really friendly staff
