Very friendly and welcoming
Lovely big room, friendly staff, good food
Kettle set fire! No electrical items in room were pat tested! Room very cold. Cleaners dump fresh towls outside of room on floor where everyone walks, not hygienic!
The listed building was lovely including the bar where we stopped to have a drink. Also the dining room where we had breakfast was nice and the staff attentive.
Our room was situated on the ground floor off car park. It smelled damp but was clean.
Room sizes and facilities
It had nice atmosphere ... Good breakfast and pub -like evening meal. Rooms a bit basic, but ideal for a night en route. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Good bus connection to city. Easy to find.
Good location and parking. Friendly staff
Bed linen very worn and not well laundered.
Welcome from staff and all facilities in the room were adequate.
Location of my room was a little noisy at times as near entrance door and stairway so could get noisy at times from other guest staying, but that's just a minor detail of my stay.
Room had a 'fridge so as we were there for 2 days we were able to keep drinks and some food in it and not eat out all the time.
Rooms could use a bit of sprucing up - had to fix the toilet seat when it fell off.
Well located close to Gloucester. Old but clean rooms. Unique heritage bar and dining room.
Breakfast was very basic.
Lovely and quaint, good location for surrounding area, lovely breakfast. Staff very helpful
The bed was like rock and the shower was so tiny
Food, staff, position and building
Kitchen close too early and food is so good that it's a pity to miss the chance to have dinner there!
shower wasn't hot
Rooms seemed to be built in. He pre-70s. Decor still the same. Breakfast was OKish.
Clean comfortable rooms, excellent food and great service. Good pricewise
Staff were great, willing to help and welcoming. Room was a good size and quiet. Continental breakfast was included. Location is great, plenty to do locally. Hotel is relatively modern, bolted on to a 14th century pub, but the character is upheld throughout.
Carpet was getting rather grubby throughout the hotel and is in need of refurbishment, I understand this is being done shortly. The rear of the hotel, where our room overlooked, was messy with building supplies scattered everywhere. The bed was hard, I wouldn't want to stay more than one night. The TV provided is tiny and barely watchable. There was a lack of plug sockets - kettle and TV were hard fitted to a switch, there were two socket on one side of the bed - one of these was taken up by a lamp. Not enough for a medical device that requires permanent mains supply and two mobile phones to charge.
Staff attentive and friendly Food great room comfortable and clean
Staff were great, meals were fantastic, loved the inn
Entrance to the rooms needed cleaning
Lovely place to stay. Nice staff , good food clean rooms , excellent thankyou
Welcomed by friendly, efficient young woman, and felt at home right away. Cosy bar, good food (steak night Saturdays) and a sunny terrace out front. Ancient old building fronting the road, so very interesting.
Thin walls, could hear every sound of other guests, sockets, doors, voices, plumbing.
Traditional pub. Friendly staff, though stretched when busy. Comfortable bed. Value for money as a cheap hotel. Good outside seating for hot weather. Nice contrast with the noisy establishment just down the road.
Need to carry keys to get in and out of building outside pub hours. Very steep narrow stairs to 1st floor bedrooms, but staff said they would have changed this to a ground floor room when they realised my problems had I not requested special bedding (my fault for not making my needs clear). Poor quality pre-packaged rolls for continental breakfast. Overall impression of struggling to survive at these room prices.
Vicky's friendly, efficient service in the bar. Ancient building.
Dirty bathroom. Tired 1960s feel. Poor lighting.
Clean, spacious rooms. Pleasant continental breakfast.
Understaffed, but those who were there did work hard.
