We loved the look of the Lodge, our room was lovely clean and tidy the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was just right for us.
That we could not stay longer as we had to get home.
Last minute booking - staff were very helpful. Room comfy.
The room was clean and comfortable just what we need for our rest. The food in the resturant was good enjoyable food but nothing special.
The view from my bedroom window was beautiful...gently rolling hills and sheep grazing. Quintessentially English!
The rating it receives suggests it is far more exclusive than it is. It isn't a 4 *, maybe 3* but even so, it doesn't feel welcoming and homely at all.
Well placed for lots of local attractions. Very nive food. Friendly staff. Modern, clean rooms. Great value.
Watch the step down to the bathroom if you have an upstairs room!
Staff friendly Food was good Rooms clean nice and warm
The welcome on arrival, the functionaity of the room, the wide amount of choice on the evening menu, and the way that the meals were presented. The full English Breakfast was superb value at £5.99. We even liked The Boss. Bridget from Calne, Wiltshire.
The arm chair in the room was well worn, and 'sagging'.
Excellent value for money, contemporary furnishings. Very comfortable.
Friendly-good service and good position
noise from kitchen fans affecting bedrooms all the time
Clean and comfortable with helpful and friendly staff.
Had a poor evening meal with grossly overcooked salmon fillet. After complaint had meal cost refunded.
fantastic views across open countryside
show cubicle was quite small
Price Staff Comfy beds Good linen and towels Continental breakfast Plenty of parking
One bath mat was dirty Bedroom door didn't lock from inside
From arrival to departure everything was excellent.
- easy to find - large parking lot - quiet room - comfy beds - good shower
- poor wi-fi
great staff friendly and helpful good food nice relaxed atmosphere
small b/towels minor problem
Beautiful location is the first thing that strikes you. The lodge is the only building around for miles which is perfect if you want solitude. There were fields of rabbits right behind the building which brightened our day. Staff were great particularly the barman who was a part time actor. Great 2 days away.
The only thing that bothered me was no air conditioning. I guess because of the age of the building but our room was a little too stuffy for my liking. Could be a problem in a summer heatwave. I think fans would help here.
Staff very friendly, informative and welcoming. Would recommend it to others.
The receptionist was very offhand to the point of rudeness, but the other lass was reasonably helpful and pleasant. the room was quite clean and comfortable
the name is the Lodge at Winchelsea, the address given is Rye, and actually the Lodge is out of Winchelsea on the Hastings side and thus very hard to find although it is on the main road if you keep going long enough.
Set in beautiful countryside and near to many places of interest.
Couldn't' open our window.
The staff***** Location Cleanliness The food Ambience
towels did not dry in wet room as the towel rail not hot.
The very friendly welcome we received following a very exacting journey. The English breakfast was one of the best my husband has had!
staff attitude Food cleanliness comfortable position
Everything else other than the basic included breakfast was fine.
Breakfast (continental style) included in the price was disappointing in that no cold meat i.e. ham etc was provided. However a cooked breakfast was available at extra cost.
