The Lodge At Winchelsea  

We wanted an inexpensive place to go for the bank holiday weekend, and couldn't have made a better find! Such a beautiful countryside location, with lots of long walks easily available for a perfect relaxing weekend. The staff was incredibly helpful throughout our stay, full of recommendations and very friendly. The location is remote, so there's not a lot going on, but it is easily accessible by bus (make sure you bring cash, there's no ATM nearby!) and surrounded by lovely fields. Definitely would recommend.

The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

The breakfast, Coffee was stewed and I thought it was a bit mean bringing out one croissant per person.

no mobile reception on O2 and for some reason I could not access the wifi in my room (this may not have been their fault) but was very frustrating. I just had to sit in the bar!

Not much. The bathrooms look a bit tired, if you're going to be picky, but were very clean and worked well. And real coffee at breakfast would have been nice. But overall, very nice.

Room was so very small only place to sit was on the bed ok for a 1 night stopover, and a single person,but not suitable for a couple and any longer than 1 night

Stayed here a few times and each time it has improved. They are always trying to make your stay a good one. Staff very helpfull but not in your face. Great location. Ample parking

Rooms tired and needing updating. View from main room was straight into staff room opposite. Had to keep blinds closed to afford privacy. More staff needed on a busy saturday evening in the restaurant.

All staff were polite, courteous, friendly and helpful. Liked the 'wet room' shower. Food was excellent.

Would have preferred a bigger room with a view but the manager recommended a different room for our next stay. Quality of toilet rolls and towels disappointing.

None really though the restaurant space lacked ambience - and some people may wish that a cooked breakfast was part of the deal though the continental breakfast was more than adequate - you could pay an extra £5 for the fry-up

The Lodge was value for money for £140.00 inclusive for two nights with a basic breakfast was fine. The rooms are basic but clean and warm . The manager is like Basil Fawlty running around and very conscientious .

The room had no view and not much natural light. However that said it was a last minute booking. With a bit of creativity you could make the rooms cosier and the bathrooms need a make over. There was nothing we didn't like and we would recommend.
