Surrounded by beautiful Devonshire countryside, The Globe Inn has a traditional restaurant with exposed stone walls and an open fireplace.

The location is good for walking, and the nearby pub/restaurant is excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.
To charge extra for breakfast at £40 per room per night is not acceptable to us.
The hotel could have been so good if it had been run by somebody.Felt as though the owners were waiting for a buyer.
Hotel like the Mary Celeste, when we booked in keys available with a note.Would not of seen a member of staff if there had not been a problem with my credit card payment.Rooms stuffy as if had not seen outside air for months, cobwebs eveywhere.
Right in town. Parking available off street.
Poor bedding, absentee host/owner. WiFi did not work in the room. No one to greet you on arrival - just a room key with a note left on the bench. On departure we rang the mobile number that had been left in the note to find out how to pay only to be told that the fee had already been debited from our card.
free wifi public spaces on ground floor
poor quality bed, very cheap mattress, coffee sachets in room were not pleasant, the room was not serviced during the stay, website said there would be breakfast but on arrival told it was not provided.
lovley attic room big and spacious
smell of eains in the bathroom. didn't see any staff all the time we were there don't think there was anyone there at all !!!
During the two nights we didn't see any staff. All communication was by text message or scraps of paper. Décor is tired as are the furnishings.
Comfy enough, quiet, and not far from Salcombe.
No cot in the family room as requested. Abrupt, uninterested staff. Also a little dirty.. pealing paint and grimy windows.
Location, potential as the lounge and conservatory area are nice quiet areas to read etc and the basis of the quality of the rooms
no staff on arrival or on site no breakfast available in the hotel poor parking facilities Rooms need some work to repair faults such as curtains & in Rm 7 the loo. TV reception pathetic. This hotel is a roof over your head but nothing else.
Easy to get to Salcombe.
The room smelt, it was damp and mouldy.
Marlborough is a pretty little village, quiet and with a good pub in the Royal Oak. Decent base to explore the region. You can come and go as you please, which suited us but may not suit others. Then again, you should always be able to come and go as you please, shouldn't you? There was a feeling of anonymity there, which we quite liked.
No breakfast available, which wouldn't matter in a town like Salcombe with lots of choice but did in a very small village. The Inn nearby have some kind of partnership with The Lodge but when we enquired at The Inn we were told that 'the Lodge are a bit naughty to advertise that'. We were offered breakfast there but only the Full English offer, which is a rubbish offer, especially at £8.95 a pop, and only available from 9:30am, when we wanted to drive off at 9am..... The room was very small, fine enough but basically the Lodge is just a place to crash if you can't find anywhere else in the location to stay at. The wifi stopped working after a day or so. We moved the twin beds together.. lots of dust and some rubbish underneath bed..
At one point this hotel could have celled itself 'boutique'. However, the bathroom was dirty and tired, paint peeling on walls, despite being fresh. Very odd check n arrangements, just a code with no staff on site. However, when a problem occurred it was fixed quickly. With a lot on money spent this place could be really nice. Location is good, comfortable, nice staff, good value. Rooms tastefully decorated.
Room was tired and bathroom needed 'deep cleaning'. Mould in shower, dusty towel rails, and general dust . More like an old fashioned B&B, with no meals on site. (Sorry but instant porridge in your room doesn't count). parking is a real problem. Only 3/4 spaces for about 10 rooms.
The location was handy for Salcombe
No staff on site, couldn't even pay our bill in advance as we wanted to pay cash. No breakfast available or offered. Even though there was a kitchen and it obviously used to have a fully functioning restaurant. Mattresses badly stained and no mattress protector on the very small uncomfortable bed, we could feel the springs. We had a terrible nights sleep. Wifi was non existent, we had to go outside to get a poor signal and we were unable to use our phones or laptops. No bath either. Second night was particularly cold and the heating didn't even come on for an hour. Whole property had a damp, musty smell and feel. I doth think it was value for money, at £65 per night. Boutique hotel it was not and does not compare with any boutique hotels I've stayed in, you couldn't even compare it to a travelodge.
It was clean and quiet
No breakfast facilities Hot Water was randomly available
Smell. Just not fresh.
Its public rooms and outside sitting and drinking areas. The current "house-keeper" is very helpful and friendly (Prince Gupta)
Road noise in room 8 and inability to shut the double glazed window. Also the 3 beds in a room which is unnecessary and makes the rooms crowded.
Room & en-suite dirty & shabby. On site car parking facilities very limited - not as expected from hotel details. Unable to access WiFi with codes given.
Location good for me as other guests next door. Room fairly clean.
Very small room for price. Very disappointed breakfast not included. Security non existent.
No Staff on site. Same Towels for 3 days. Payment taken out using card details without notification or receipt given on first day. No Wifi Signal or Phone Signal cover. Family Room was Small and mattress were old. Windows did not shut and curtains did not close.
Proximity to Royal Oak pub.
No staff, no breakfast
Very quiet, spacious hotel. Good if you don't like to see another person
No staff presence at all, it was like the Marie celeste. No bedside lamp. No long mirror or fan in the room. Bathroom had carpet and the shower did not drain properly. There was no bin in the bathroom. No breakfast.
EVERYHTING No staff at all dirty bed sheets, dirty towels. back door left wide open all day and night, no staff on during the night so if anything ever happened, your stuffed! definatly not £65 worth. i was not entitle to breakfast and was told to go next door, wish we stayed there, if i knoew aboutthis we would have in a heart beat! so annoyed it is unreal. paid up front for the cost of this hotel. toilet broke in the night and wouldnt flush so partner fixed it himself. the shower was absolutly filthy, wouldnt shower in there at all! the shower head hole were covered up with dirt was vile! bed sheets were dirty and smelt like someone else slept in there before we dit, i there fore slept on my own blanket and no covers. no security what so ever! terrible terrible service!!
Clean, nicely decorated, and situated in a charming Devon village
Booking was the main problem. I had to work at finding the number of the house manager, and I became nervous whether my booking was OK. But in the end it was ideal for what we wanted - to come and go as we wished for one night's stay. A pity the shower only ran freezing or boiling!
Quiet, particularly when I was the only one staying.
No staff at the hotel. Cramped parking. Rooms not cleaned all the time I was there. No catering.
It was a room for the night. With a hot shower. The pub next door was really nice and did nice food. That said the pub next door is a B&B So i could have saved myself a walk.
Just weird having to open up yourself and lock up after you when you go. No staff there at all which in a place that big is weird and eerie . Had I been a woman on my own i would have been bricking it. WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND NO SINGLE FEMALE TRAVELERS.
The hotel was clean and tidy, quiet location, see below
The lack of someone on site, had to leave at 3:40 am due to the noise coming from downstairs by a couple who I assumed to be friends of the owners because they were using the hotel kitchen like it was their own , smoking in the lounge area, music blaring away even though I had requested them to turn it down and the fact that the management still have not replied to my complaint, £130 for two nights and not getting to sleep on the 2nd night and having a 300 mile road trip so early in a morning is not my idea of getting away for the weekend, would have been nice but the lack of a presence certainly isn't helping and until rectified would advise to stay away as it seems that the door entry code is being passed around and everyone and anyone can get in, I believe the couple who caused this grief had scarpered by the time the help had arrived, still no word or apology or even some money back offer from the management.Would not recommend
