“ It is a good location for the lakes district and hill walking trails. The staff are friendly and helpful for information on what to do in the district. The rooms are comfortable and ensuits are also good. Continental breakfast is good. ”

The place was cozy little place and amenities were nice The place did not have a lift and we faced lot of hassle in getting the luggage to the first floor through the stairs...

Friendly and welcoming staff. Good breakfast even though not a cooked option. Rooms well equipped. Slightly isolated for other bars/restaurants (need to drive). Very limited mobile phone signal.

The room was very small and claustrophobic. No air con and the window only opened an inch which made it stifiling during the night. Should not accept dogs. We were charged £15 for our dog but there was no room for him to lie down in the room!

We loved how we could bring our dog along too, as well as staying in a nice, modern, comfortable place. Not much to choose from food wise, we had to go into Keswick for this and because we got there on the Sunday there was limited places open to eat out at.

The warm, friendly efficiency of the staff, the range of the breakfast provision, the overall relaxed atmosphere, the comfort of the bed (Room 5) and the fact that "everything worked". Shortage of parking space, lack of lounge area - and leaving!

Location - lovely local walks. Coffee Shop - nice coffee, food and a beer too. Rooms - clean and modern. Lovely wee places to sit around the hotel to read. 10% off at the local pub for meals which were very good! Thirlmere lake is beautiful and peaceful. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

Loved the location - so close to great walks. The room was very warm when cold outside which was great! The staff were very smiley and always greeted you on coming and going. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. The local pub was close enough to walk to and provided great food. 2 things which I think let the Lodge down slightly are the lack of even some hot food at breakfast, although the continental breakfast was very nice. Also, with it being so new, and clearly well insulated from the outside elements, I was surprised that there wasn't better soundproofing between rooms!

I thought this hotel was lovely, comfortable with friendly & welcoming staff. The continental breakfast was really nice with quality produce, we were very impressed and it made a refreshing change to a cooked breakfast. We would definitely stay again & would recommend the hotel as a good base for climbing or walking. We didn't mind the fact the fact there wasn't a bar as such or restaurant if you want that then don't book to stay, there is a pub down the road, due to the snow wee didn't venture out but would have if the weather had been better!! Nothing really only thing the shower cubicle a tad small but this wasn't a problem for me.

Room was lovely, very comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Views are spectacular, the hotel is great as it has its own bar which is lovely as it's not in the hustle and bustle of town. Perfect if you want a relaxing drink after a hard day on the hills. Shower was a wee bit too small but that is the only criticism

The very comfortable bed, and the cleanliness of the whole place. Would have liked to be able to get evening food, after a long day in the hills. Nothing fancy, a jacket spud and some chilli would have been great !

Friendly and helpful staff Clean comfortable room Extremely overpriced for what is on offer. Friends of ours stayed at a hotel on Ullswater for the same 3 nights, it cost the same price as the Lodge but they had the luxury of a large comfortable lounge, bigger bedroom, access to a restaurant for evening meals and a full cooked breakfast included. When we booked we, wrongly as it turned out, thought that the cost was per room not per person. It is really not worth over £100/night.

The breakfast selection was good and having a bar available until 930pm was useful as we had a young child with us. Free WiFi was also a bonus. The staff recommended use of an affiliated local pub as somewhere to eat. Although the menu looked good, the food was disappointing as it was served cold and with items from the menu description missing. Although a discount on the bill was given when I complained, it didn't really make up for a very poor meal.

Staff (only seen one lady on reception), was lovely, friendly and everything was fuss free. The rooms were modern, very clean and had everything you need (TV, tea and coffee facilities, en suite). Furniture was lovely and modern and light. Breakfast range was very very limited. Nothing to do at the hotel other than sleep or watch tv in your room.

We chose to stay at The Lodge in the Vale for proximity to Keswick, without the hassle of actually being in Keswick (eg parking problems, difficulty of identifying a suitable hotel/guest house, etc). We needed to make a fairly early start to our return journey to Scotland, and The Lodge is well situated for easy access to the A66. We found the location excellent, the staff friendly/ welcoming/personable, the quietness restful and the view from our room bucolic. We were relieved that the location appeared to be flood-free on this particular weekend. It exactly suited our purposes and we had an enjoyable stay. We dined at the King's Head, where portions were rather meagre. Otherwise we enjoyed our evening meal. We were slightly surprised that VAT was additional to the quoted room rate.

It was very relaxing..a place where you would go to get away from a hectic lifestyle. The only issue during our stay was traveling all the way to keswick for a meal. We would of loved it If we had a room service and a good menu during the day. No other issues
