Mini Mars bar on pillow was a nice touch upon arrival and again when returning to room on the second day. We all slept well as hotel is situated well away from main road. The pool and sauna was clean and tidy. Did not like poor organisation at breakfast time. First morning of stay no good items were on display until 8.15am and as we were expecting to leave promptly for a day out, this was disappointing. We could have managed with just cereal and the toast but there was no butter or margarine to hand, so had to wait until we got attention of waitress who then brought us some from kitchen. On second morning a waitress put a jug of fresh orange out and we expected her to replenish glasses as it was obvious there were no glasses as she put jug down on breakfast bar, but she didn't so we had to ask for glasses. No one asked us if we wanted tea or coffee so we had to get the attention of the waitress. It did feel that the dining area was understaffed in the mornings and staff did not look happy in their work. If this was resolved the hotel would be much improved as breakfast time when staying for weekend mini break is part of the experience. Staff in bar at night were excellent. Reception good. Enjoyed memoribilia on walls in bar area. Good base.

Nice bathroom and plenty of hot water. Comfortable, clean room. Primarily a golf clubhouse. Its accommodation is secondary and lacks any character. Therefore Sunday morning breakfast was dominated by groups of men getting ready for a days golfing. Perhaps it would be different on a weekday. The breakfast was good but organisation of getting eggs / toast and coffee was a bit haphazard. The staff tried to be helpful but just lacked organisation and a smile.

The beds were very comfortable and the hotel were happy to accommodate a early check in for us. There was no water within the room. The reception was not manned when we returned and our lock on our room door would not work so we spent some time looking for a member of staff within the hotel to open our room.

Staff very helpful and friendly Heating in room 110 was difficult to use. If it was on a timer, there was nothing to say so, and it only appeared to work during the evening.

The rooms were comfortable and well furnished (we had an executive room which was well worth the extra money) Check in took forever, the system seemed very disconnected and fiddly,

The Hotel room was clean and quite comfortable, and the food adequate; altogether, reasonable value or money. No apparent supervision. Young Bar and Restaurant staff spent far too much time clustered round the till chatting. We had to leave our table to chase up the waiter to clear the table of our first course dishes, to bring the dessert menu and coffee. With a visible managerial presence ensuring that the tables were properly circulated by attentive staff, the experience could have been so much better.

I liked the atmosphere and friendliness of the excellent staff. In particular, I thought that the ONE meal(Dinner) that I had was RUBBISH......Pan fried Squid was under cooked, and the main meal of Steak was cooked until dry..It appeared that the steak was cooked in one of those close down contraptions used by cheap cafes...My thoughts are that this meal however terrible, would NOT deter me from more visits to this lovely and warm hotel....

All staff were pleasant and friendly. Intrigued by the varied mixture of paintings and pictures in the corridors and my room. Obviously a job lot of artwork that needs better coordination and rationalization. Breakfast service in the restaurant was slow and inattentive. Nobody came round to my table to ask if I wanted tea/coffee/toast etc and items in the hot buffet were only replenished on request and after a longish wait. Decor in the rooms was tired and floor tiles in my bathroom were cracked. The bottom wood and surrounds of the bathroom door showed signs of water damage. There was no safe in my room. All in all I would have expected a better quality of accommodation and standard of service for the price I paid for this hotel.

Very convenient for us to stay with our Grandson who lives in Wootton Bassett. Can I especially mention the girl on the bar on Friday evening - think her name was Sonya or something - she was exceptionally friendly and chatty. Possibly the cold bathroom - not really a complaint!

“We stay at this Hotel to and from our many visits to our family in North Devon. The situation as a 'half-way house' is most convenient. Always find the staff and accomodation first class, nothing too much trouble, always providied with room on the floor and in the area requested. Parking facilities excellent - and a very good breakfast available. We would recoomend the Hotel and its posiiton.” Douglas, Cambridge |
