Very good,
Score from 51 reviews
“We arrived late after the kitchen had closed but we were still provided with a meal, which after a very long journey was very much appreciated. We were actually taken to our room something which we have only ever experienced abroad before. The breakfast was excellent.”

Come and make yourself at home at this charming family-run inn. This traditional, bustling village hostel makes everyone feel welcome and offers comfortable accommodations at great rates. The Longlands remains fiercely independent with no brewery or theme-pub chain to tell the hotel how to run things. This means that they can choose the very best beers and wines for the bar, the freshest ingredients for the menus and individual furnishings for each of the rooms. Come and spend a while and let the hotel tempt you with their friendly hospitality. It is lucky enough to be right next to Tewitfield Locks on the Lancaster Canal, at the edge of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Just a mile from exit 35 off highway M6, the hotel is are perfectly placed for days out to the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales, the seaside at Morecambe, and the historic city of Lancaster. The bed was so comfy I would stay there again just for the good night sleep I got, it was that comfy I never got up for breakfast which was included in our room rate, which on the menu looked like a good choice I did pre pick the full english. The bar area was busy but considering our room was right above this we never heard a thing. Staff was friendly, I would say there again for the night, Check out was at 10.30 and I really did not want to get out of that comfy bed,

Our stay was very very pleasant. The location was important as I was playing golf in Silverdale. The hotel was easy to find, there were some good walks right from the front door. The food was very good value and quality and the staff friendly. I wood happily come again Thank you very much for a good break

Very helpful staff. Large very clean room. Perfectly located for walking the Lancaster Canal and in the Silverdale and Arnside area. Magnificent breakfasts. There is no lounge. All ground floor space is devoted to restaurant and bar with fairly small seating area. Did not use restaurant but overheard very complimentary comments. The Longlands says it is an Inn and Restaurant not a hotel.

this should not have a four star rating. Poor reception staff, tried to put us in a cheaper smaller room than we had pre booked and then at checkout tried to charge us £10 more than advertised, with no apologies for either mistake. Dog hairs on and in the bed, scuffs on every wall of room, stained seating. Very poor service in the restraunt, arrived and they had no menus, had to wait for twenty minutes for one to arrive after asking a couple of times and then had to wait another twenty minutes for our order to be taken after asking three different people. Bar area and conference area extremley busy and noisy which resulted in a fight later in the evening due to certain individuals being there most of the afternoon drinking. Only saving grace was the very nice food. :-(

The food in the restaurant was truly excellent at dinner and breakfast. There is a wide-ranging menu and the chef is obviously adept. The rooms are large and very tasefully furnished. Nice leisurely walks available along the canal. Convenient for local towns and the motorway. The Trade Descriptions Act seems to be broken in the wording on Booking.com! The rooms are nice but they do not look over the marina as is implied in the description. It does say they look "towards" the marina. They also look "towards" the New York Statue of Liberty but you can't see that either! Very poor service when checking in at reception. Expect a wait of up to 15 minutes before anyone arrives.

Very warm welcome from the staff, pleasant atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. One or two suggestions: a decent reading light over the bed and dressing table and a wall mounted toilet paper holder would greatly improve the convenience of an otherwise very pleasant room. The food was of a very high quality and we shall no doubt be returning. As above, no real dislikes, just room for a little improvement here and there.

We booked a coach house room even though it was cheaper and smaller as it had loads of character and a proper king sized bed. We did have the opportunity to swap free of charge to a larger lapwing room, but for me, the character of the coach house won. Great food in the evening, but it may be wise to book if you want to eat in the restaurant as it was pretty busy. We really enjoyed out stay and would stay here again.

Nice bright clean rooms, good location, good restaurant and pub on site. I thought for the price it should have tea and coffee fascilities in the room. Some staff were a bit useless in their knowledge of when the restaurant closed and being hospiable in serving meals later in the servcie.

I have stayed at the Longlands on two occasions recently and was pleased with the excellent service. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Should I need accommodation in this area in the future I will certainly book this hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends

We did not stay long enough or use many of the facilities to make a proper judgement. So all we can say is that the hotel met with our expectations for an overnight stay. There was a relaxed feeling about the visit and while it was very busy and noisy on the Saturday night we felt the staff were very attentive at all times. One small comment, not a criticism, was that we were not warned to lock our room door when going for meals. We naturally assumed the door was self locking.

Tranquil; comfortable room; friendly staff; good selection of beers in the lively bar (and room well away from noise). Breakfast good except for mushrooms, which had been cooked I know not how, certainly not fried. Nine is perhaps a little early to stop serving in the restaurant. Mushrooms at breakfast.

Very comfortable room - clean with a good view. Friendly staff, good restaurant bar. Perfect for what I needed as I was visiting my elderly mother who lives nearby and it was a cosy place to return to at the end of a stressful day. Very pretty hanging baskets out front to greet you and the place is obviously very popular, because the bar was always busy. Would definately return there for another visit. Could be noisy in the evening when you were trying to get to sleep. Very noisy kitchen door, constantly squeeking, bad news if your room is over the kitchen.

Longlands is situated in a beautiful area beside Tewitfield Locks and the Lancashire Canal with easy access to Morecambe Bay and the Lake District . It is ideal for walkers, long boat enthusiasts, dog lovers etc. What I particularly liked about the hotel was my ability to have my dogs with me and, although it does state only one dog per booking, I was allowed to have two and I appreciated this departure from their ruling. I had a very comfortable stay and the staff were all very friendly and obliging. This is my second visit to the Longlands and hopefully, will not be my last.

Great food. Enjoyed the special three course menu on Sunday night and the pizza/pasta menu on Monday night. Also thought the Bowland bottled water in the rooms was a nice touch. Lovely big rooms. Pleasant staff. Highly recommended.
