The LonglandsTewitfield, LA6 1JH Carnforth (Show map) Very good, Score from 33 reviews“We arrived late after the kitchen had closed but we were still provided with a meal, which after a very long journey was very much appreciated. We were actually taken to our room something which we have only ever experienced abroad before. The breakfast was excellent.”

Come and make yourself at home at this charming family-run inn. This traditional, bustling village hostel makes everyone feel welcome and offers comfortable accommodations at great rates. The Longlands remains fiercely independent with no brewery or theme-pub chain to tell the hotel how to run things. This means that they can choose the very best beers and wines for the bar, the freshest ingredients for the menus and individual furnishings for each of the rooms. Come and spend a while and let the hotel tempt you with their friendly hospitality. It is lucky enough to be right next to Tewitfield Locks on the Lancaster Canal, at the edge of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Just a mile from exit 35 off highway M6, the hotel is are perfectly placed for days out to the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales, the seaside at Morecambe, and the historic city of Lancaster. Longlands is situated in a beautiful area beside Tewitfield Locks and the Lancashire Canal with easy access to Morecambe Bay and the Lake District . It is ideal for walkers, long boat enthusiasts, dog lovers etc. What I particularly liked about the hotel was my ability to have my dogs with me and, although it does state only one dog per booking, I was allowed to have two and I appreciated this departure from their ruling. I had a very comfortable stay and the staff were all very friendly and obliging. This is my second visit to the Longlands and hopefully, will not be my last.

Our room, number 10, was spacious and quiet. The fried breakfast was excellent The website says all the rooms have Vi-Spring mattresses - our Lapwing room, Number 10, certainly did not. We are thinking of buying a Vi-Spring bed so chose the hotel partly for this reason. The style of furniture and carpeting equated to a Premier Inn not a four star hotel in my opinion. Our duvet cover was worn and faded with a hole. The curtains were thin and faded and did not keep out the light - it was daylight in our room at 5 am. There was a very grubby/dirty, pale coloured chair. The window seat cushions were mildewed and dirty. We were not offered any help upstairs with our luggage. It was very overpriced at £95!!!

Nice bright clean rooms, good location, good restaurant and pub on site. I thought for the price it should have tea and coffee fascilities in the room. Some staff were a bit useless in their knowledge of when the restaurant closed and being hospiable in serving meals later in the servcie.

Views were good and location to Leighton Hall was perfect. The towels were marked and the duvet was lumpy.

I have stayed at the Longlands on two occasions recently and was pleased with the excellent service. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Should I need accommodation in this area in the future I will certainly book this hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends

We did not stay long enough or use many of the facilities to make a proper judgement. So all we can say is that the hotel met with our expectations for an overnight stay. There was a relaxed feeling about the visit and while it was very busy and noisy on the Saturday night we felt the staff were very attentive at all times. One small comment, not a criticism, was that we were not warned to lock our room door when going for meals. We naturally assumed the door was self locking.

Tranquil; comfortable room; friendly staff; good selection of beers in the lively bar (and room well away from noise). Breakfast good except for mushrooms, which had been cooked I know not how, certainly not fried. Nine is perhaps a little early to stop serving in the restaurant. Mushrooms at breakfast.

Very comfortable room - clean with a good view. Friendly staff, good restaurant bar. Perfect for what I needed as I was visiting my elderly mother who lives nearby and it was a cosy place to return to at the end of a stressful day. Very pretty hanging baskets out front to greet you and the place is obviously very popular, because the bar was always busy. Would definately return there for another visit. Could be noisy in the evening when you were trying to get to sleep. Very noisy kitchen door, constantly squeeking, bad news if your room is over the kitchen.

Good locatiom - easy to get to from the motorway and good access to Morecambe and the Lakes. Comfortable bed. Big room. I would have liked a bath as well as a shower. The self service breakfast table was a bit sparse- had to ask for bowls - no extras like fruit or yoghurts, croissants or pastries although cooked breakfast was excellent.

Great food. Enjoyed the special three course menu on Sunday night and the pizza/pasta menu on Monday night. Also thought the Bowland bottled water in the rooms was a nice touch. Lovely big rooms. Pleasant staff. Highly recommended.

Very convenient to M6 but still rural and not a big chain I stayed on a Saturday and the bar was very noisy (people not music); it would have been nice to have a quieter area for those who wanted it.

It's out in the country, but only a few minutes drive into the town of canforth. The Longlands has a very busy pub at weekends, day and night. We stayed for two nights and had to book a table to make sure we could eat there as it is very popular with the locals. The food is very good with a great menu. Staff very friendly, nothing is to much trouble and the rooms are spot on, very comfortable. We have no hesitation in recommending this country hotel. We could not find anything to dislike about the longlands
