Area information

Ulverston became a market around 1280 and by the mid 1660's was home town to George Fox, founder of the Quaker movement. Today you can walk amongst the busy cobbled streets, shop at many market stalls or shops, sit outside one of the many inns, pubs or licensed restaurants, visit various attractions like the Laurel & Hardy Museum or if your taste is entertainment there is a Cinema, Theatre and a Concert Hall. Ulverston also boasts the Sir John Barrow monument standing proudly on top of Hoad Hill, from the 'Hoad' you can see as far away as Blackpool and Morecambe Bay. Turn around and the peaks of the Lake District are in front of you.

Travel information

Lonsdale House is about half an hour's drive from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway in South Cumbria.

Just follow the A590 signposted to Barrow in Furness. When you reach Ulverston, turn right at the large roundabout and follow the one way system until you arrive at the Market Square, the turn sharp right up Daltongate and you will find the hotel on the left.
