Staff were helpful, food was wonderful
cleanliness of the room could have been better
I liked the room, the garden area, the manageress, who was very helpful, the scenery, the proximity to Newark and the ease of public transport to get there from Sutton on Trent. Ate each night in the restaurant, good varied menu and very tasty food all at an affordable price.
Nothing to dislike in a short stay, longer stay might find it a bit restrictive - no shopping area.
Friendly and helpful landlord
Friendly establishment and staff. Great meals.
Nothing I did not like.
Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff excellent and helpful.
Breakfast, wide choice of beers ect .Location very good ,access good stay again anytime.
bedroom, meals and hosts were great.a lovely old inn with a lot of character.
the bedroom windows were stuck shut, we therefore couldn't get any fresh air into either the bedroom or en suite, we requested a fan and had one brought to our room straight away.
Excellent food highly recommend the steaks or mixed grill, breakfast was a delight also. All in all a very enjoyable stay all be it only one night, but will be going back.
Nothing comes to mind!
Everything....!!!! A true gem of a find...!!!
Friendly Staff, catered for my girlfriends dietry needs on request (vegan) Comfortable room, quiet location, beautiful village, easy access to the A1, cosy pub
Only little niggle was the pane of glass above the door could have done with a blind
The sausages & mash we had for dinner. We felt very welcomed as soon as we sat down to dinner the owner came over & introduced herself. Staff very helpful & pleasant. Very good breakfast, filled us up for the day
Very busy courtyard. cars coming & going all the time.

Amazing value. Superb breakfast. Very pleasant staff, very helpful, especially over breakfast choices. Delightful bar area. I would like to return in Winter when the log burner is on
We had a large, quiet room. friendly atmosphere nice meal
Bar area needed a little bit of tlc.
Breakfast very good.
Very dated, felt we were intruding in staff space on arrival in dinning room for evening meal, it all changed when management appeared.
Good selection of real ales Somewhere safe to keep fishing tackle Breakfast Big flatscreen tv in room tea making facilites Nice big room with 3 beds
Shower did not work no early breakfast
I stayed at the Lord Nelson on the 2/6/14 with my daughter. We enjoyed friendly service, nice rooms, great food. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Lord Nelson and I hope to have the opportunity to stay there again.
There is nothing about the Lord Nelson that I did not like.
The building is old in style, but with modern decor. We only stayed one night. The staff were very attentive and although we arrived too late for an evening meal, they gave us a menu for a local chinese takeaway, we ordered, and was able to use the restaurant and their cutlery.
There was no running hot water. Breakfast was delayed as the chef had not be told we wanted to eat at 8:30am, as we had to travel to attend a wedding.
quiet location, friendly staff, well appointed room
Friendly landlady Excellent pub and beer Good bar staff Lovely room Comfortable bed
Lack of enthusiasm by chef to produce some nibbles, at 8.50 when food closed at 9pm - he did do it though Having to put the kettle on the floor to boil it as the cord is too short!!
Helpfulness and friendliness of staff. Happy atmosphere. Good value food. Good disability-equipped bathroom.
In the twin-bedded room, one bed very hard, making it difficult to sleep for one of us. No telephone in room, making it impossible to contact staff (no reception desk as this is a pub). We understand the beds are gradually being replaced.
Size of room . Facility. Beds . All there
Enjoyed the location and layout of the property. Found it relaxing and a welcome break.
Didn't have the chance to sample the food, one of the main reasons for booking the overnight stay. However the kitchens were closed due to a family party. We did however manage to eat elsewhere (although we wouldnt have known this if I hadnt tried to book a table before hand). We were in room 3 above the pub, and there was a lot of door slamming at close of the evening (which did annoy my wife), when the chef had finished preparing for the Sunday lunches.
