The indoor/outdoor pool is sublime. October, 7am, clear sky, glorious moon. The main reason we go there (along with the warm welcome, great food and lovely rooms)
Hotel was lovely, amazing cocktails and spa is fab. Will definitely come again
The contemporary styling and the friendly service. The pool is amazing! Small and enclosed in a courtyard-style garden with access to an indoor area with a wood burning stove. Great in the cold and rain, a first for any pool I have exoperienced! Stay for the pool and the rst of the very pleasant hotel is a bonus!
Some staff poorly informed of menu choices, drinks and facilities. The restaurant has a good, diverse menu but the staff are lacking in depth of knowledge of food and particularly of the wine list. The list is OK but I got completely wrong recommendations from the waiter who clearly had no knowledge and should have deferred to somebody else.
The style of the hotel was amazing, very modern and contemporary. Staff were helpful and friendly. Spa and pool looked great, will definitely try next time.
We had to use the public car park near by as the hotels parking was full. It cost nearly £20 in parking which seemed unfair when other guests had free parking.
Professional Staff Quality bed linen beautiful decor
The bed was comfortable. The pictures are exactly what the rooms are like. The food is wonderful. Well worth the money!!! The facilities are great! Will be returning for sure
Some of the staff were rude and did not apologise for delays in service.
Check-in very easy. Love reception with its modern no desk layout. Given iPad for hotel info to use during our stay. Complementary soft drinks and beer in mini bar was a nice touch. Lovely mod room.
Bar area and lounge not very inviting - a bit too bright. Service slow for lunch but amount taken off our bill at hotels suggesstion. Breakfast staff slow on less busy morning (Monday)
pool restaurant (evening meal) room genera ambiance
disappointing cooked breakfast lack of a sauna/steam room no draught beer in the bar
Great stylish rooms with a sense of calm! Unobtrusive service from the point of arrival at the astounding oak reception desk until departure. Lots of airy light seating areas. Great breakfast!
What's not to like? Maybe the fact I wasn't staying longer on this occasion :)
This hotel, altho very expensive £170 for the feature room was lovely. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious.
Character of building
Comfortable ad relaxed
The ambiance and the beauty of the rooms.
Design of pool. Having an I pad
The breakfast wasnt great - not for a 4star hotel
Position brilliant staff very helpful. Loved the I pad
Treated my girlfriend to a weekend away to celebrate her graduation. Parking is limited at the front of the hotel but we got lucky. We were handed an iPad when we checked in with all the info we could want. Our room was at the front over looking the main entrance, lots of cool lighting options and surround sound. The bed was very comfortable. We made the most of the great pool, the little log burner in the indoor section is a nice touch. Food was amazing both dinner and breakfast. Plenty of choise on the menu and nicely done. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend!
The library was interesting. The historical elements of the hotel have been thoughtfully retained and displayed. The lounge area was spacious and inviting. Breakfast was good. Great that the full English is cooked to order.
The staff were not helpful. we were supposed to have a room upgrade to a room with view offered to us by booking.com and we ended up in a room on the ground floor but down several steps and we had frosted windows. Very disappointed in room. Furnishings were a little worn. Flooring in the bathroom was uneven wobbly tiles.
The decor in the room was stylish, good comfortable bed.
We booked a superior room... Which was smaller than we expected, with a rather basic bathroom.
The unusual building and layout. Nice dining environment and excellent food. Super room.
Good location, great old building, great stay.
Cooked breakfast took ages to come. I didn't have much time and this was a little frustrating.
Not a lot. Good location.
First impressions were dreadful. Minimal on-site parking, no external signage at roadside. Check-in is bizarre and unwelcoming. Staff seem friendly but poorly trained. Ordering tea became a test of will. Improved after that but there must be plenty better. Tries to be hip and trendy. Fails
The staff was very efficient and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent!
The hotel was kept to a high standard and facilities were clean. The pool was fabulous
We paid a lot of money for a 2 night stay and our room was ridiculously tiny and very disappointing. We stay in hotels often for weekends and the room was too small to feel comfortable. The restaurant food was great, but they need to designate waiters to particular tables to avoid confusion. Asked for toast to 4 different staff before eventually getting some. Never ones to complain, but when you pay the price, your expectations are higher
Separate room for toilet from bath. Swimming pool rarely busy Spacious lounge facilities Grounds and spa treatments were pleasant and spa staff didn't try to sell you products
Bed was small and the space around the bed cramped. Scrambled eggs on day 1 poor and coffee not great The room was very close to the road so had to keep the curtains shut most of the time for privacy making it dark. The lighting wasn't strong enough to read easily.
Well appointed, quiet for a city location. Close to city centre and riverfront fo a morning walk about. Staff friendly and helpful. 11 o'clock checkout gave us time to see a little of the city before we motored onwards.
We managed to park, though their are fewer places in the car park than rooms, so first come first served. Only one chair in the double room.
