In the heart of Exeter in the stunning Cathedral Yard, Abode Exeter is Exeter's oldest hotel. It boasts elegantly decorated rooms, an award-winning chef and an on-site gym.

Just 4 minutes’ walk from Exeter Cathedral, The White Hart Hotel by Marston's Inns provides en suite accommodation in the city centre. There is a bar and restaurant and free parking and Wi-Fi.

The unusual building and layout. Nice dining environment and excellent food. Super room.
Not a lot. Good location.
First impressions were dreadful. Minimal on-site parking, no external signage at roadside. Check-in is bizarre and unwelcoming. Staff seem friendly but poorly trained. Ordering tea became a test of will. Improved after that but there must be plenty better. Tries to be hip and trendy. Fails
The staff was very efficient and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent!
Separate room for toilet from bath. Swimming pool rarely busy Spacious lounge facilities Grounds and spa treatments were pleasant and spa staff didn't try to sell you products
Bed was small and the space around the bed cramped. Scrambled eggs on day 1 poor and coffee not great The room was very close to the road so had to keep the curtains shut most of the time for privacy making it dark. The lighting wasn't strong enough to read easily.
Well appointed, quiet for a city location. Close to city centre and riverfront fo a morning walk about. Staff friendly and helpful. 11 o'clock checkout gave us time to see a little of the city before we motored onwards.
We managed to park, though their are fewer places in the car park than rooms, so first come first served. Only one chair in the double room.
Great location for site seeing etc. Very close to the Quay, which we found great. Good pub and pizza restaurant and then a walk to walk off all the calories!!! Without exception ALL the staff were ecellent
Parking. We were fortunate to park on the hotel site but it is very very limited. Public parking very close but. it ideal
Art, architecture, ambience, level of service, location, food
size of room, noise from corridor
The ipad The luxurious bathroom The smellies
The rooms were quite tiny - hard to get round the bed!
Stayed for 2 nights in Deluxe double. I found all the staff, reception, restaurant, and cleaning to be efficient, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant food both breakfast and dinner was well cooked, the waiter explained the dishes, we ate from the A la Carte menu. Very nice. The pool and Spa were very inviting.
The friendliest and most helpful group of staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. Being upgraded to a lovely double room was a bonus. My stay was all too brief but I will be back.
I can't think of anything
Well thought out rooms Really comfortable Attentive, friendly, Knowledgeable staff. Nothing was too much trouble. ipad in the room was nice touch.
Friendly staff, excellent food and wine, room was a little small but comfortable with a good shower!
Stuffy room as the air con didn't work!
The single room might be ok for business travellers but I was disappointed. It was pokey, the bed stuffed against the wall gave it the feel of a box room. Tea and coffee provision miserly.
cleanliness, staff were excellent very accomodating, facillities and modern rooms, fittings and cleanliness.
the style feel and general cool nature of the place - my 15 year old daughter was in heaven Loved the food loved the pool Great stay
the fact the Spa was full and i couldnt book ( probably my fault) the fact we had to check out after one night
It's a great concept. We love this and their Cheltenham hotel too. Excellent bedrooms and bathrooms - even the small ones. Food and drink great value especially the "Friday Fizz" promotion.
Parking is very poor. We arrived in our brand new, just out of the showroom car that day and had to park a 60k baby across the road in an open public car park! My wife had to unload the car and carry all luggage up to the room as no one offered to assist and I had to move the car to keep the entrance free for other arrivals. They let themselves down here.
great massage at Spa with knowledgeable staff
No parking available at hotel, car parks close by very busy. Ipad system used by hotel as a communication tool, guest has to accept responsibility for including cost of replacement if damaged. fridge not working, so curdled milk in morning. In-room shower doesn't afford you much space or any privacy.
Great package deals and we really enjoyed the spa - the technicians are better than any I have found in London.
Staff always friendly, from the 'front counter' throughout. We loved the location of our room, one flight up with umpteen windows - which we could actually open! Peaceful. We know this building was an eye hospital and it is so good to see historical aspects displayed - treasures really. The mosaic flooring of the entry is beautiful, so pleased this has been kept. We have visited Exeter a few times and look forward to returning to the Magdalen. We travel from Australia so the scarcity of sun lounges will never be a problem for us, we love the shade.....
Excellent modern finish with lovely furniture giving a great atmosphere. The staff were amazing and the facilities and food were also great. Spacious well equipped room with free mini bar! We took our dog and she was made very welcome with a dog bed and bowl in the room.
Lovely stay, great staff and beautiful building and surroundings.
Small Pool but still great to chill!
Stylish decor, free mini bar and good coffe maker in room. Restuarant dinner.
Overly casual approach staff had towards us "guys". The lack of parking. Rate paid did not reflect the value we percieved in room we had. A superior room with tiniest bathroom and not that much room elsewhere. Poor room storage space. Despite the online promise that the minibar is stocked with wine, we had none. First night it was soft drinks plus one bottle of beer. Second night we were upgraded to two bottles of beer. As for "other treats" it was one biscuit each per day. Felt a bit mislead by that. First morning breakfast chaotic, we were left waiting for a table for at least 15 minutes. On leaving hotel the conversation with "reception" was limited to payment matters only, not asked if we enjoyed our stay. The hotel therefore are not aware of these views.
Great hotel with lots of small touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible - including an iPad in your room. The food in the restaurant was lovely, as was their afternoon tea. But the best part was probably the lovely garden and swimming pool.
We found it odd that there was no door between the bathroom and bedroom.
Pool was lovely as was the bar area. Room was spacious and great to have a complimentary mini bar. Great location for exploring Exeter on foot.
Parking. Very few spaces on hotel grounds so you have to park at a pay & display near. You can pay by phone but parking charges start at 8am so you still have to get up even if you are enjoying a holiday lie in!
