This former 19th-century schoolhouse has been converted into a comfortable hotel with a friendly atmosphere. Himley Hotel is located on the Shropshire border, on the edge of Dudley.
Score from 507 reviews Good
Live music, friendly staff and a very good night's sleep. Room was full of character as well the rest of the hotel.
Leaving in the morning!
Although I was advised there would be music on in the bar below, I wasn't warned how loud it would be. There was a band playing, it was so loud my room was shaking.
We loved the large room very different from anything else we have stopped in and food was great. People do need to aware that on a weekend there is loud live music but we knew and it was not a problem
The welcome we recieved was really friendly. I had recently broken my leg and the staff were so helpful and even upgraded us on our second night to a room that was alot easier to access, this was a really kind gesture. The rooms were very nice and decorated fantastically to a boutique style, the food in the restaurant was amazing as was the atmosphere and selection of wines and other drinks, breakfast was tadtey and service was always spot on. We will definately be going back to stay again!
The only downside was the lack of a lift or access to the rooms without having to go up stairs, obviously with a broken leg this was not ideal and not something i would have commented on had i not been in this new position of temporary disablement, however as i said earlier the staff were wonderful and helped wherever they could to make our stay relaxing, enjoyable and full of great memories!
Cleanliness, easy free parking, good bar on site. Bacon sandwich made fresh to take to room.
Decor odd, breakfast was disappointing:- Served in bar area, tea and coffee urns, although the breakfast was fresh cooked and good the experience was not.
Couldn't fault the place, staff were so helpful and pleasant from the word go. We had a lovely meal in the pub and the breakfasts were first class! The penthouse was amazing and so comfortable. Set in a lovely little village, stunning scenery.
The only negative point which wasn't a huge issue as we had lovely baths, was the fact the penthouse didn't have a separate shower unit
Location excellent right on the river, boutique room (we had the Chocolate Suite which was resolutely pink!) a refreshing change and very quite in the annexe which was useful as bands on Fri/Sat night a bit loud outherwise.
Ambience in the pub a bit tired and the pink paint somewhat overdone. Wifi in the Bakehouse Annexe very low signal
Ideal location for walking to museums etc. Good food and atmosphere. Not keen on the decor(but that's just a matter of taste) but would recomend to friends and family.
The warm welcome. The friendly, helpful and very efficient staff led by the excellent James. The food.well presented and tastey. The superb penthouse with the lovely views. The locality.Close( but not too close) to the Ironbridge and shops.
Liked everything about the Malthouse. Great value for money. Efficient and friendly staff. Fabulous food. Spacious rooms.
Originality of decor. Comfort. Friendly staff. My second visit. Would come again. Central for museums and the famous iron bridge.
Have no dislikes.
Great space, the penthouse is on two floors and sleeps four very easily. great space with own kitchen
They do warn you about the live music, it didn't really bother us and its over by midnight, but if you don't like music or want an early night this might not be for you
Stayed in one if the suites, certainly quirky decoration, very lively place to be of a weekend, great band, very loud until about 1pm so wouldn't recommend this place for a family with kids. Also had a great meal.
Only negative is you need to have mattress and pillow protectors!
food in pub was good staff quite good.the malthouse was quite central to the nat trust houses we were visiting.
NO lounge no decent chairs to sit in bedroom and shower was poor in our room although in the pink room itn was excellent so were the chairs in the bedroom.
Booked the Malthouse, but our room was in the Swan 100 yds down the road!! Room Ok ..bathroom tired with no shower. Smelly corridors and stairs..stank of damp and urine. Walk up the road for breakfast.
Friendly Staff, big and colourful rooms very comfortable.
No Signal on phone but not the hotels fault.
Location very good in middle of village and lovely views of river. Spacious penthouse suite, very comfortable. Quirky fixtures and fittings, a lot of time and effort put into these and all seemed new.
Decor could not be to everyones taste, red walls and shiny black furniture but we enjoyed our time there. Hall/stairs a bit depressing.
The Malt house is very close to The Iron bridge and surrounding attractions and museums . The rooms are colour coded, ours being vivid pink with animal print wallpaper caused huge amusement when we first arrived. We'll worth the experience
A bit of a problem booking in as they had not received our booking online from Booking.com. But Becky was excellent and upgraded us to a larger room/apartment overlooking the river. Room was brilliant really wacky décor loved it. We ate both evenings in the bar and food was very good. Breakfast again in the bar with plenty to choose from including full English. Staff very friendly would book this place again.
rooms were different but comfortable
No desk/work area, lighting was a bit poor. External yard lighting on most of the night, disturbing ease of sleep.
Brilliantly quirky decor and excellently presented. Staff couild not have been more helpful.
We had no problem but be aware that this is a music venue at weekends.
Really interesting decor. Breakfast was lovely. Bed and pillows were really comfortable. Great location. Staff very friendly.
Nothing really - oh other than tea cups smelled of bleach causing tea to taste funny!
Abby and other staff were very helpful and we really enjoyed our stay in Ironbridge. The kids were thrilled by the penthouse. We all liked the African wildlife theme of the hotel, exemplified in the giraffe shaped chair.
Eating area was a bit grubby.
free parking and wifi good food and friendly staff central location
our room didn't have a window!
