The Bulkeley Hotel is just yards from the beach and pier alongside the Menai Straits. It enjoys stunning views overlooking the water to the mountains of Snowdonia.
Score from 401 reviews Very good
Located on the open plain, just 6 miles from Snowdonia National Park and 5 minutes' drive from the Menai Bridge leading to the Isle of Anglesey, this former farm has been transformed into a stylish...

Just 2 minutes’ walk from Bangor Train Station, Garden Hotel offers high-quality accommodation in a central location.
Score from 104 reviews Very good
Very good quality and clean. Food excellent
Not a particularly relaxing atmosphere, reception already being prepared for a wedding. Restaurant very very quiet which results in lack of atmosphere.
Bed and breakfast
Stairways are difficult for suitcase carrying
View from restaurant over Menai Straits. Excellent evening meal (shame we had to go to work after!). Clean, comfortable, well furnished room with good shower. The breakfast. Lovely Arts & Crafts Tudor style building
Noise from delivery vehicles early morning
Loved the room, great facilities in the room and the large towels in bathroom. Comfortable bed, friendly staff. We ate in 1884 restaurant which was a very good meal.
Check in time very late 15:00 which didn't really suit us. Our only complaint was that the bed linen was not changed. When we turned down the duvet at 22:30 we found quite an amount of body hairs on the sheet and a live spider. We rang down to reception and two men came up to our room. However they were security as no one was at reception this late. They offered us another room next to ours but this also had two long head hairs underneath the duvet. Eventually they found fresh sheets for us so we found ourselves changing bed sheets at 23:00 not what we expected.
The rooms are pretty clean and everything is almost new and working well. The university is quiet and beautiful that we can have very good sleep. The hotel locate on a small hill but it's not too far from city centre and bus station so it's very convenience to find anything you want and take bus to other attractions nearby by bus.
No one can find his room in the first time without staff's help.
Shower head broke
The view of the river from the bedroom The breakfast Dinner options in the evening The staff in the restaurant were very friendly, welcoming and polite.
That the staff at the management centre decided to use my credit card without my permission to charge for a different booking. I wouldn't rate this as a four star hotel, it was a nice hotel and I had an enjoyable stay but compared to other two and three star hotels I have stayed at this wasn't anything special.
Not a fault of the hotel staff at all but the other guests were so noisy, one came crashing along the corridor at 2.30 a.m. then a noisy one got up at 6 a.m. Would be a good idea to put posters up asking guests to be quiet and considerate of other guests. Our room was at the beginning of a corridor so lots of guests passed our door, all very noisily.
Excellent staff. Good food- breakfast had good choice. Ate in the restaurant - had the best tasting fillet steak I have ever had- cooked to perfection!
A bit impersonal - but to be expected as it is a large hotel that hosts corporate meetings etc.
Location was excellent for the zip wire and other activities in North Wales. Stayed 2 nights and the rooms are on the basic side but comfortable and very clean. Lovely bar with outside seating overlooking the coast - very nice!
Wifi was terrible - really struggled. Coffee shop doesn't open at weekends!
Good location. Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate.
Hot, stuffy room. Reception staff were not very helpful. Parking was difficult, with parking at the front of the building reserved for VIPs so other guests have to park in a dim carpark, away from the building. Events seem to be given priority over guests, with areas closed off.
Good atmosphere Friendly and helpful staff
The view and location were amazing.
The WiFi was totally useless.
The staff were welcoming, cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful. The accommodation was clean bright and airy with a pleasant view of the Menai straights and Anglesey. The food was not the normal fayre, but very tasty and was served efficiently by the attentive staff. Although it is essentially student accommodation no excessive noise or behaviour was apparent. The wifi coverage was very good in all areas.
Limited draught beers, better choice of bottled beers. Being a listed building the lift only goes to the 2nd floor. Limited parking in the front of reception, but there is overflow parking round the back of the building.
Comfort , location , food. Excellent location for getting to Irish Ferry
A very clean and well located centre which is designed for conferences rather than your average hotel but great nevertheless
Breakfast almost always the same
comfortable bed. lovely food. Nice hotel.
Did not come across any problems.
I liked everything about it all the staff were friendly and helpful . The room was good the view from the dining room was lovely .
The wi if was turned off before we checked out I was not able to use the password and reconnect the morning of checking out .
view from the dining room. Convenience of being part of the University.
breakfast was of a poor standard large selection but self service and over cooked and dried out, also had to walk through the dining room to get to our rooms. No extra pillows in rooms.
Views, location, food
Quiet Enormous room Lovely view
A little hard to find Couldnt connect to wifi Felt a bit strange having a hotel on a uni campuss!
Free wifi Room and property were nice and clean. Nice location nice views! Room and bed was comfortable with nice linens. Great bath tub and shower.
Stairs of which I had to haul heavy luggage. They should be more informative and helpful to new visitors with bags. Wifi kept dropping...and the user name and password were Unique and difficult to remember...but at least it was free! Breakfast was only ok. The hot portion, not as good as the cereal, fruits and breads.
We were very impressed by the reception and service staff who were unfailingly polite and helpful. The whole place has atmosphere and the cleanliness was inspiring.
Our executive room was a classic but we did feel that the bed was on the hard side! It would have assisted had there been advice to turn left out of the car park.
Good room with plenty of space for a single. Lovely location, and views from public rooms. Food good, especially the generous takeaway continental breakfast that I ordered on last day due to early start.
Complicated layout with lots of different levels. Duvet too warm for time of year. Misinformation regarding where to collect takeaway breakfast
