Staff and food were very good. Room was dated, bathroom had a visibly coroded light fitting with no cover. It was advertised as a 4 star but in reality it was 2/3 star. But was ok for walkers.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was useful to have free wi-fi to keep in touch with the outside world as phone signals are very poor in the area. Very comfortable bed. I stayed over the first two days of reopening under new management, which meant there were a few hiccups here and there. Room decor was a bit tired & dusty. But the staff dealt with everything in a very friendly way.

It was in the location we wanted. It was nice enough the Breakfast was very good and the evening meal was good. We were there on New Years Eve and met some lovely people. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. and very warm. Our room did smell of damp and the sink was blocked also the shower leaked onto the floor and was very difficult to turn off.

Staff really helpful and friendly. Our room had only been partially cleaned prior to our arrival- no towels, bins not emptied etc. We were a bit disappointed in the restaurant to find that the "specials" were precooked and brought in to be re-heated.

Excellent location for walkers. Reasonable quality & choice at breakfast. Staff fairly helpful. Poor pub food quality at dinner - not fresh or tasty + overpriced. Accommodation block smells damp; is in real need of some tender loving care + paint. Room generally dated & musty with small TV. Very uncomfortable bed with thin mattress. May have been good place to stay once but now just taking the money!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar is cosy and the log fire a real bonus. The food was good and the beers excellent. Breakfast was wholesome and served in the conservatory in attractive surroundings. Pefect location for our two day walks in Dovedale and the Manifold Valley. We will go again!

Auberge de campagne très bien tenue. Chambre confortable, petit-déjeuner correct. Ma chambre au rez-de-chaussée donnait sur la cour. Intimité toute relative, mais il y avait des rideaux épais.

Good menu, meals in attractive dining area.Excellent location in the Peak National Park. Attentive service. Very good breakfast Too expensive. Bedroom had only shower, not a bath. Shaver light not working, not repaired despite notification to hotel staff. No follow up to this. After travelling widely in Europe, the euro equivalent we paid would give us a bath. Slow service at breakfast, starting at 8.30 and finishing an hour later would have made it impossible to be a business visitor.
