Score from 882 reviews Very good
The closeness to Gatwick Airport.
There was nothing in particular we did not like. The breakfast could do with some work.
Accommodations were good for our one night stay. The owner was very pleasant and informative. The free shuttle to the airport was a bonus. Self serve breakfast was relaxing and flexible (no one buzzing around trying serve). Recommended a great pub within 1 km walk, The Plough Inn in Ifield. The bus service was very convenient and inexpensive.
No pavement (sidewalk) for travelers, with luggage, to safely walk from the bus stop (527).
A step or two above what I expected after staying at what I thought were equivalent places near Gatwick and Heathrow. Newly redecrated in traditional style. Country-like location yet next to the back of the airport. Higky recommend.
The location is very good for Gatwick airport. The breakfast was good with a varied choice, toaster on last legs. The room was good with on suite.
No meal place close - a 20 minute walk or short drive if you can find it. We did the block twice then asked a local.
very nice clean b&b near gatwick airport and motorway
Clean room. Simple self service breakfast station. Free overnight parking. Convenient for airport.
Underneath the approach path to Gatwick, so may be unwanted noise early morning. The wifi was a very weak signal when I tried over two nights there.
Pleasant old country house. Conveniently located. Welcomed, and then left alone, which is the way I like it.
very homely and welcoming .very friendly .good breakfast
Handy for Gatwick (but we weren't). Only use this if nowhere else is available.
Dirty pillowcases and the pokey room. Check-in only after 5Pm and breakfast finished at 08:30!
No bar no food no wifi (or couldnt get it to work )
Before we had checked in we were asked when we would be leaving. Breakfast was shocking and not worth eating. Although the hotel was set in lovely grounds, we were not allowed to walk around them.
Noise from the other guests rooms very loud
very nicely furnished and comfortable room; shared bathroom clean; useful to have washbasin in room as well; good selection of cereals, drinks etc. for breakfast; almost the only place I could find in the area at single-room price.
difficult to see entrance when driving along road; only two coathangers in wardrobe.
Very friendly welcome. Lovely Rural Location. Clean and Tidy. Good Value for Money.
Check in is from 5pm onwards. Wifi coverage is poor and needs a wifi extender installing. No cooked breakfast option, breakfast area is also quite cramped. No fan in room, opening windows not an option due to airport noise.
There wasn't much to like
I arrive at 15:00 and was told I could not check in before 17:00. When I returned at 17:15 I had to wait for the other guest to be seen to as they had also arrive at the same time. That was the last time I saw a member of staff for 2 days. Breakfast, that was included in the price, was an insult by any standard. There was a small table top fridge with concentrate orange juice, 4 yogurts, milk, dairlylee cheese spread and butter portions. On the table, half loaves of white and brown bread and two individual packed croissants, one of which looked as if it had been stood on. I would have like to expressed my dissatisfaction, but as I said there was not a member of staff to be seen,. No one, for two nights, unbelievable.
I found this a reliable 'does what it says on the tin' sort of place. I paid £40 for a room to myself, sharing a bathroom next door, and a continental breakfast; that is excellent value for money. I liked the quiet rural setting, in spite of the noise of airplanes from time to time. I liked the privacy, the wifi in my room, the ease of car parking, the normal friendliness and ease of manner of the two staff I met.
At breakfast the following morning, a couple spoke ill of the sound of vehicular traffic nearby. In my room -number 5- I had the window open all night and heard no traffic, apart from airplanes, which I expected. They also said the wifi in their room was unreliable. Again, this wasn't my experience. Personally, I found fault with nothing.
Having arrived late and left earlier than staffing allowed the facilities were very well arranged and explained.
Basic but very nice would stay again x
We were taking our daughter and her husband to Gatwick for their honeymoon flight to Cuba early the next morning and this was an ideal place to stay. We had two rooms which were at one end of the hotel with a private door so it was like being in our own wing! Mark took us to the airport the following morning in plenty of time for their flight. This was included in the price which was very reasonable considering the hotel's proximity to the airport. Would I recommend this hotel: YES.
Would've preferred a cooked breakfast but it's understandable to have cereals, toast etc as we had to get to the airport.
Value for money, location, facilities and friendly owner.
Nothing to complain about at all.
Owner-run business that gives that personal touch of "warmth", opposite to a hotel reception cold attitude.
Lovely hosts. Convenient self service breakfast. Would go back.
Lacked a hair dryer.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the courtesy car service saved us the hassle and expense of a taxi. The room was clean and cozy, and the bathroom spacious. Appreciated that breakfast was available from very early in the morning.
My mattress (in a twin room) was quite hard and not very comfortable.
