This quaint stone building dating from the 16th century is an inn full of character and charm. Nestled in a quiet village location, only 15 minutes from the surrounding market and business towns.
Score from 68 reviews Very good
Said to be haunted by the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots, this Elizabethan hotel has historic features and a cosy restaurant. Charm and character mix with modern facilities.

Over heated rooms - had to sleep with window open
Accommodation, food, atmosphere, fantastic, will be back
SMALL BEDROOM AND BATHROOM OVERHEATED
Bedrooms small but very comfortable.resterauntt up to Michelin Star Standard!
The staff, food and hotel bedroom were fantastic, we were well looked after from the moment we arrived until we left, the food was of high quality, well cooked and presented the portions were much larger than we could manage.
Unfortunately the room windows are quite small and given the mild weather we are experiencing at the moment the bedroom was uncomfortable, however with the assistance of the two fans provided we managed to circulate some air into our room for sleeping
The beautiful location and the pub atmosphere. The food was first class. A very relaxing stay.
The restaurant was popular. On Saturday too much so for the serving personnel to cope. The service standard slipped too much. More training of staff is needed to cope with pressure.
Tired worn out room
Top quality food at a great price
Very slow WiFi
Thatched Inn in the village looks lovely. The room was in a new block across car park/entrance to reception. We had booked a superior room and it looked lovely. Cleanliness was excellent, staff were helpful and the food was of a high standard.
Room (3) was too hot to get a good nights sleep. We opened both windows and used the fan in the room all night. Did not need the quilt. We found that the wall with the TV on was very hot to touch and believed there were hot water pipes just below the surface of this wall. Did mention to the person who took us to the room that it seemed very hot in here, but didn't get a response. Believe he was the owner/manager. On checking out we told a different person and he informed us that he would check this out. This room would be lovely in the middle of winter but not on a warm September night.
Hotel is a nice place in a pretty village
Not being asked if I want help with baggage on check in Not being told the breakfast times has changed due to a wedding Being greeted in the restaurant by what we couldn't have rather than good evening Cobwebs and no extractor in the steamy bathroom A shower with no pressure unless at scolding temperature
The lady serving breakfast
the noise's in the room
Rural location Restaurant menu Food Quality
Bedroom very warm
Lovely village location Nice staff
Carpets filthy. Internet shocking. Tv pathetic. No windows in room to open. Small useless fan. Old worn bath towels. Bath didn't drain properly. Very very disappointing.
Lovely warm, friendly welcome. Room had been upgraded and was really quiet. Nothing too much trouble and food was delicious - especially breakfast where lots of fresh ingredients were on offer.
Our ensuite didn't include a bath which was not a problem for us but if you prefer a bath to a shower, ensure you book the appropriate room.
Freindly staff, good food
seeing the clean bedsheets on the floor in the corridoor before the beds were made up for the next day, one pile with a vacuum cleaner on top!
Character, location, cleanliness,decor
Half a mushroom on the breakfast! Bit tight....
The room, the location of hotel, ease of parking and a superb breakfast. Staff were willing and friendly and there was a lovely garden. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Hot weather meant hot room and only a small fan - another would have been grand! We kept our window open but this meant we had noise from kitchen and car park until late.
Amazing location, lovely staff, best breakfast !
The room insulation was not great, i heard every noise of the upstairs and adjoining room :(.
Good old fashioned service, comfortable bed, excellent food.
Not much really - maybe a bigger TV that you could view from the bed. Just a minor niggle and not that important!
Customer Service was excellent with friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts with premium products.
Proximity to the fire escape meant the room was overlooked. Unfortunately one family treated this as their private access staircase. It was a very hot weekend and the ventilation was struggling in the hotel wing, even with fire escape door open and a fan. Not their fault. Just circumstances.
position was lovely and staff good.
dinner menu was somewhat over priced for what you received.quality was good but limited. room was nice but some lights didnt work not good for a refurbished superior room
Excellent breakfasts and dinners. Peaceful and quiet location. Helpful staff.
Non-functioning towel rail as the only source of heat in a very cold bathroom. The smell of previous occupants smoking in the bedroom.
Good location in a pretty village. Staff very helpful.
