This 4-star hotel is just a 10-minute walk from Dover’s port, and 5 minutes’ walk from the centre. It offers tours of Dover, charming Regency decor, and many rooms with picturesque waterfront views.

We had a lovely time. The welcome was first class and the staff extremely friendly. The meal was excellent. Our room was well appointed and comfortable. Could have done with another chair.
The room was very warm, so we turned off the heating and opened the window. The traffic noise was a little intrusive, but we got used to it.
Our second visit The Marquis and once again we had a great relaxing weekend with great food.
the staff was very friendly and helpful and you was well looked after on your stay.
the location of the hotel was right on a busy road and noise from traffic was a problem at night and early mornings
The staff were excellent The food and service were excellent Very nice dining room Bedroom and bathroom very clean Attention to detail is very clear Good parking
** I felt the atmosphere was very soul less. The "bar" area was somewhat stark and not very relaxing. Rather than being in the country I felt I was in a business hotel in a town. Bed was rather too soft.
Warm welcome every time we arrived back at the hotel. Good service in the restaurant. We had the taster menu with matching wines.... It was SO good, and a little, but not too much info about each wine, perfect. Classic double room was good, but the carpet was stained from previous guest's carelessness. There is a lot of usefully info in the room folder, we did 2 walks from the hotel using their guides and they were fantastic. Nice hot choc in the room and good to have cafeteria coffee. Good size shower too.
I would have liked a bath in the ensuite, but realised afterwards I needed to have a more expensive room for that. The Noble Isle toiletries were very nice, but I would have liked them all to match fragrance-wise.
Everything. We had a Birthday Celerbration. and stayed overnight. The rooms were lovely. The food was great and the staff were brilliant. I would definately recomend it all my friends. what more can I say.
Nothing. I liked everything.
The quality of the room and its facilities. Very stylish and up to date with the modern traveller. Loved the Wolverton room, quiet and wonderful to lie in bed and look at the stars at night !!
The bed and pillows was a little soft for us but that's our individual preference
Friendliness of staff, and comfortable and interesting accommodations.
screens on windows, lack of fitness equipment
Style and comfort of the room. Value for money.
The hotel is very nice with a lovely decor, we were upgraded to a suite due to maintenance the room is as you would expect, very comfortable with a sitting area with T.V and a separate sleeping area with a big and comfortable bed. We didn't have breakfast the following morning so cannot comment on the food.
I,m not sure it was a suite as the rooms are only separated by a curtain perhaps look at some kind of door to make it 2 individual rooms as you would expect a suite to be. The bar is only stocked with malt whiskeys no blended which seems a little strange. The road that it is situated on is quite a busy road at all times which is a little unfortunate.
Very good staff. Nothing was to much trouble.
The hotel we had booked for I night prior to using Channel Tunnel let us down completely. We arrived late at the Marquis but nothing was too much trouble at this beautifully presented hotel. Our evening meal and breakfast was superb.
Staff, quality of room, good (price) deal, underfloor heating.
Needs a small light in the wc/washroom so you can use this in the night without putting on all the bathroom area lights. The hairdryer cable is not long enough to use the dryer in front of the mirror. Three of the lights in the bathroom were broken. The shower instructions refer to three controls - only two fitted; we were unable to use the shower handset. Bed was a bit soft.
Staff were amazing and the room was very luxurious. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. The first room we were given was a bit noisy as it was over the kitchen's extractor fan and we are light sleepers and the staff were very helpful and moved us straight away without any quibbles.
Staff, food, room, facilities, all in all 10 out of10
No air con in one room and on a hot day its no fun to sleep in such conditions. A bit disappointed.
Very spacious and nicely decorated room, modern bathroom, large car park, Dover within 10 minutes drive.
Wi-Fi didn't work, noisy and terrible view - room was partially underground and the only view was on parked car wheels. The restaraunt looked nice but overpriced, fortunately Dover is fairly close. Breakfast only served from 8am.
Relaxed comfort and good amenities
Located on the road, and the on-premises pub generates noise in very late hours. Tends to have groupy parties going on.
We were exploring East Coast Kent and as usual found this fine hotel through www.booking.com. Tiny village (Alkham) with a spectacular cricket pitch opposite Village Hall, which we could indeed see from our room (Granby). But you need to walk to it across the main road to truly appreciate its uniqueness. A small pitch on the only flat piece of land, surrounded by mounds and hills-more like a golf course. Very scenic and charming. Easy to hit sixes, one imagines. The room and facilities were excellent but the traffic on the main road through the village was very noticeable, even late in the night. I suppose they take pride in their food offering which was very well presented and good value at £ 30 for a 4 course tasty meal of starter, ox tongue and salad, sea bream, followed by pork and vegetables and dessert. All small but satisfying portions. Well done !
We paid £30 more than the agreed rate on line, which at the time I did not see. Can you rectify this outstanding matter? Ian Campbell Richmond upon Thames
the food served and the staff along with the other custumers made it joyous
the wifi was shockingly bad they need to look into this
Rooms were really good, comfortable bed, air conditioning and a wonderful monsoon shower and fluffy towels. Breakfast was very good, lots of it an piping hot...staff very attentive and great service. I would stay here again if they could sort their kitchen out...
Dinner was ok food wise, had the 4 course tasting menu, 2 courses good, one ok and one (main course) pretty dreadful. Main concern was speed of food from the kitchen, gap between 2nd and 3rd course was over 40 minutes...mostly was around 25-30 minutes, way too long I am afraid, dinner took over 3.5 hours!
The room was great, very clean, lots of room and very comfortable.
This Restaurant with rooms is situated in one of the most beautiful country villages in the UK. The rooms are superbly equiped right down to heated floors in the bathroom. Lovely touches include the welcome paper, coffee machine and the pet (toy) dog that greets you! The staff understand what the hotel is trying to acheive superbly and could not be more helpful. From product knowledge to delivering the chef's concept, they had it all. The quality of the food was outstanding, from locally sourced product to items foredged from woodland and fields, complimenting each other superbly. Breakfast was equally superb with the breafast smoothie to die for! This hotel/restaurant should be on everybodys list to visit whether they are travelling across the channel, visiting some of the many English Heritage sites in the area or just indulging themselves in some quality down time. I will be back!
Wifi was hit and miss at times, but this is a minor gripe as it didnt cause to many issues. I love the locally sourced products, but I do believe the bar area would benefit in stocking a small amount of main stream products. I could have killed for a pint of draught Guinness! This is mainly because there is no local pub (this was the local pub) and I believe they need to cater for this.
